Played a couple hours with 3 others. Took us nearly that entire time to get all of us in a single game together with no issues.

First of all - is there a way to turn off voice in game? Its automatically on and we would prefer to use a separate program.

Second - is anyone else having troubles with connecting to friends games? Sometimes we can join each other, sometimes we can't. Makes no sense.

Third - What is with the quest tracking in co-op? Are you only given direction to the main story quest? Side quests were not giving us the dotted line. We seem unable to track anything but the main quest.

The game is awesome other than these issues. Looking forward to playing some more tomorrow.
Couldn't figure out how to turn off voice chat, had the same issue with my friend except he couldn't hear me through the in-game chat but I could hear him. I just ended up having to hear him twice on ventrilo & the game while he could only hear me on ventrilo :/ None of the settings in the steam voice chat settings did anything.

You can change the tracked quest by going to the quest log (L) and selecting another quest and hitting track quest. You can't track more than one quest at a time though

Supposedly pretty large but this game is in a horrible state. Going to wait a day or two and see if it gets fixed.

Horrible state? Not at all. It has issues that need patching, but its not in a horrible state. Now Stranger's Wrath? That was in a horrible state. This just has some minor issues that need fixing, aside from some people experiencing graphic glitches on certain cards.

Ok another complaint I have is the random crashes and the saving in game, it ports you back to the hub and you have to trek back to wherever you were with respawned zombies.

Needs more patching but the core game is very fun.

It's very obvious that they uploaded a debug build to Steam rather than the release build. Just wait for them to upload the correct build, but I'm guessing that everyone may have to re-download the game.

On the plus side, I imagine that this will help modders to come up with a lot of fun stuff soon.

if u are experiencing crashing and are using nvidia ...try driver 275.33 WHQL.

the newest 280.26 WHQL driver is kinda shit and has been giving many users issues.

Pretty much unplayable at this point.

Terrible controls (I'm not sure how I'm even supposed to react to gestural mouse controls).
Busted menus.
Blinding lighting that clearly isn't working right.
Obvious memory leak that leads to huge frame drops after a short period of play.
Checkpoint save system.

I really don't get why people are rushing to defend this game. The technical issues here are some of the worst I've ever experienced, even though the actual game seems surprisingly great. It's just too bad I won't be able to play it until this mess of a game is patched.

Because its not having an effect on everyone? The controls are just fine aside from the odd mouse gesture for breaking down doors, and even then its not hard at all.

The menus arent busted...for me anyway.

Lighting looks great and isnt too bright or too dark after the initial gamma adjust.

After playing some co-op with others, no memory leaks or slowdown.

Checkpoint saving is a little odd though. Yes it needs patching, but lets not throw it under the bus, especially for problems that arent widespread.

Whoa, is this seriously the case? Crazy if true. Wouldnt this mean that its not even the actual PC version?

Guess that could explain the lack of AA and AF options / no clip option so easy accessible? I really hope this gets smoothed over quickly later today...even with the missing options the game is really fun...

I played a few hours single player and I really like the game. Plays great on my system (Athlon Phenom II dual core unlocked to quad core, 4gig RAM, Nvidia 560TI) and I really like the combat. Good times in zombie slaying land. The only issue is that it didn't show a marker on the first mission so I had to run around for a long time before I found the place I needed to be because the quest guy doesn't give you directions to his bungalow.

I did find a cool bunker:

Wow, how do you upload the debug version? Funny if true. Was thinking of starting over as Sam anyways. Blunt objects seem to be more fun that sharp weapons so far.

Hmmm, my pre-order goodies aren't activating on Steam. Keeps saying I already own the game. Well, duh.

On a side note, I'm liking some of the random references they've put into the game...

Oceanic flight 1012 flies over you while you're at a safehouse, crash landing

and my favorite so far:

the girl named Annie who is looking for her teddie bear (someone at Techland likes league of legends)

One of my favorite things so far has been throwing hammers at zombies like Thor. It knocks them down and then I run up and stab the shit out of them with my knife. :)

It tells you if they're enabled in game, not outside the game in the Steam client as DLC.

Yeah throwing weapons is more fun than I thought. Here's hoping Techland gets whatever the problem is settled. This game is just too fun and too good looking (well not cutting edge, but its still a great zombie apocalypse game). Smooth co-op integration too, with no gamespy mess inbetween :p

I haven't been able to make it yet because I can't find scrap metal anywhere. I've got a baker's dozen of everything else though so if I happen to stumble upon a cache of it I'll probably be able to make 10 or so heh.

Check trashcans, I found some by the safehouse down the stairs heading towards the beach. Found about 12 in 1 trash can

What would suck the most (for me) if the devs or Valve have a nice change of heart and provide some sort of refund for this massive fuckup, since I have yet to buy this...

This isnt really refund worthy...at least I dont think it is. Why would people need a refund since the game isnt broken, and if all this dev build talk rings true (which is seems like it is) the correct build would most likely be uploaded and redistributed sometime today/tomorrow at the latest.

Now if it was completely busted/had some crazy DRM that wasnt talked about beforehand, glitches all over the place, etc., then i'd expect something like that to happen.

People are coming up with crazy theories on the steam forums...and Adam Jensen quotes lol.

What the fuck?!! :lol

That's the biggest fuckup in a Steam-integrated game I've ever seen. Ever.

I wouldn't be surprised if it takes a couple of hours to release a pirated crack for this game for providing a dev build that can so easily be modified.

I'm pretty sure there were at least 2 other games that uploaded the wrong version of their game on steam. I know Merchants of Brooklyn did it.

Does this game provide any sense of challenge.

Or is it mash right trigger = profit and automatic win button?
Mash "e" and left trigger = profit.

Maybe it gets harder, I haven't played that long.

Harder in co-op it seems. Zombies can sneak up on you, and if you're outnumbered/dont know a decent strategy for stronger zombies, you can get overpowered. Seems normal in the beginning, but im sure with larger numbers/variety, you'll be challenged.

Wow. I am shocked. Playing the PS3 version, and haven't had a single issue with the game so far. I've noticed no screen tearing, and the frame rate, while not perfect, hasn't seemed bad at all. Maybe I'm just less sensitive to this kind of stuff, but as far as screen tearing goes, I've yet to see any.

Having an absolute blast. This is like the best parts of Dead Rising and a bit of Fallout 3, and it's a lot of fun. I've even been freaked out a couple times by those fucking FAST zombies. Damn. Of course, I haven't gotten to any escort missions yet, not looking forward to those, but so far this has been so much fun.

Considering you just respawn infinitely, no one will ever be challenged. You just keep going until you win. Cool for some people I guess, but I personally like to play an actual game. There's no tension or sense of accomplishment when there is no way to lose the game.

To those of you who have played it, how big is the island and what sort of play time do you feel like you'll get?

There are multiple areas, the starting area is huge. Your easily going to get 30+ hours out of this game.
