Dead Island |OT| Island of the Dead

How do we know if the Bloodbath DLC has been activated on PC? I got the two keys from GMG and entered them both first gave me something (it was like a 27kb dl) and the second is my key for the game that I already entered.

I play solo. I swear to god if I have to grab this teddy bear one more fucking time... I lost my awesome weapon pickups!
Have you gone into the options and set it to single player only or are you just playing solo with co-op still turned on and not joining anybody?

(Also, I hear that it is better to use "play" instead of "continue". It may be that continue is loading an old autosave or something).

PS3 version is definitely playable. I played coop with 3 of my buddies for like 12 hours and had a lot of fun. Sure the game is pretty janky, rough, texture pop in, low lod, shadow glitches, and a janky mini map, but damn is it fun. I can overlook the issues since the game is just a blast to play. Framerate is decent enough, can get choppy sometimes, and inviting friends doesn't always work on the first invite. Even with all these issues, the game is totally worth it especially in coop with friends.

I'm not super anal about performance as long as its playable and doesn't distract me, I was more or less talking about just how many problems and issues people are having with not just the PS3 version but the game in general.

I will try this. Now that I think about it... I've only had save issues while it's in co-op. I can't recall losing a save while it was on LAN (I had it on this by accident, when I noticed I switched to co-op). And I've never played on SP.

Hopefully this will work. I really like the game. Just, it's unacceptable to lose progress.

I'm afraid to even DL that shit... what does it do? Are there patch notes?

I think I might be one of the few who has not had any issues on the ps3 (aside from the occasional engine loading and a screen tear here and there). However I have always played it on singleplayer, which seems to keep the save bug from happening...

Still, I don't want to DL the patch without notes lol

I'll bite the bullet and DL. Let you know asap.

Is there a reason I can only fast travel to/from the Lighthouse and Lifeguard Station? I've found a bunch of other locations but I can't travel to them, only from them.

So... my quest progress was were I left it before the patch. (still have to fetch this stupid bear again)

But my trophy progress is completely wiped. :/

Ok this is weird... I'm in SP mode, but I'm getting prompts to join other people's games? What? Is that normal. When I was in LAN mode I didn't get prompts, but you do in SP?

Holy shit. Just got back from my friends house. We set up two 360's on two 40 inch TVs and played co-op sat next to each other. 9 hours later and I can't believe how enjoyable that experience was.

Me and my friend got to level 15 in one session and just entered the city, at which point our jaws dropped. This game doesnt exactly make a brilliant first impression, but when it gets going it keeps delivering, and we had some truly epic moments. Upgrading weapons was thoroughly satisfying and a bit addictive. Overall, that was one of the most enjoyable co-op expriences I've had for a long time.

This is one of the most fun games I've played in ages, and I haven't even got to Act 2 yet. Still doing loads of quests for the ones at the lifeguard house and the lighthouse (I think?) - I've spent that much time just walking round exploring and fighting zombies and collecting stuff that I can't even remember. So much fun. Just hope they patch the rest of the bugs soon now.

31MB patch out for US on PS3. Doubt it has a save game fix though.

This is the first time, I've been afraid to apply a patch in regards to consoles.

And screw Act3. The escort missions on that section were pretty irritating.

Looking at the other two posts regarding the PS3 patch, I guess I should sync my trophy data before downloading.

Playing on Xbox my only criticism so far is how the skill trees work. They should really describe the prerequisite for unlocking the next tier of skills, I assumed it was just spending x amount of point in the tree, when it actually requires you to spend 3 points in the highest level to unlock the next.

How is it on PC now? If everything working yet?
great in singleplayer, terrible in co-op.

didn't have much fun in co-op with friends today. voicechat sounds terrible and can't be turned off, lot's of lag, kicks you out of the game all the time.

it's really broken, feels like a fanmod lol

Played about 4 hours on PC.

GTX 580 SC
Phenom X6 @ 3.2
4 Gig Ram
Win 7

No crashes, no Vsync issues (D3D Overrider), playing with the 360 pad.

GOTY for me so far. The atmosphere, sound, ambiance, and feeling of being alone as you walk around has been totally nailed. It's fucking downright scary sometimes and caving in a zombie skull that just jumped you and made you shit is so satisfying.

Gonna be taking my time with this game.

I had none of the problems you just mentioned. Seems more like connection problems from one of you.

Played pretty much the entire day with 2 other friends, we could hear ourselves great, no lag, no disconnects. Only problem I had was the main quest getting locked.

I can't believe people think/thought this was going to be a triple-A game. Is it enjoyable? Yeah I guess, but it's not a well made game at all. Tons of bad design decisions, cut corners, glitches, and useless and dumb stuff. I said to my co-op buddy while we were playing it today "This is the worst good game ever made." That's how I feel about it.

ugh, thanks for taking one for the ps3 team... Synching trophies asap.

Also as far as the prompts to join other players, that happens to me too and I have only ever played SP. I think its normal, because SP only makes it so others can't join, but lets you join others if you want.

It worked fine for me when I was playing in Lan mode (single player) but it kept crashing on me when playing co op online. voice chat works a dream though.

Just got the truck from the parking garage and now I guess I get to go to the town next. Went ahead and quit for the night, but checked my save just to make sure it did not erase my progress and so far so good still. I have the game set to single player in the options menu as well, so maybe that is where the issue lies for some, who knows?

*EDIT* I have not downloaded the patch yet either, but am actually afraid to based on what I am hearing.

Yeah just got the patch on the PS3.... ruined trophy progress.

I want my money back.

Quit out now. When it wouldn't give me those I lost about 4 hours of playing as it wasn't even saving (though it said it was)

It must have went up right after I started playing earlier tonight, but I am not too keen on downloading this thing tomorrow when I fire my game up again. I am only about 6 hours in at level 12, but I really do not want to be forced to start over. I love the game and want to stick with it, but having your progress wiped out is always a massive buzz kill.

Installed PS3 patch. I also lost trophy progress. The ones I completed are still there, everything else reset to 0. :|

Well.. hopefully the saved game issue is fixed.

Papercuts

fired zero bullets in the orphanage.
Damn, the game gets WAY harder in the city, I've died quite a bit now.

Found an orange weapon(Hanbo) in the Hotel, though. It's insanely good and has great reach, though it takes a ton of stamina to use.

I wouldn't say GOTY, but its one of the better games this year thats for sure. Deus Ex: HR gets my vote.

PS3 patch appears to have fixed the save bug for me. About goddamn time. Seems like they changed how the game saves fairly drastically - instead of flashing the biohazard icon and saying 'Game Saved' it just says 'Checkpoint' now.

I want to quit for the night and I'm walking around waiting for this game to decide to save. Is there any known place to trigger saves? I walked to areas that I assumed would be checkpoints. This is fucking annoying, wish I could just save manually.

I've just been cashing in quests before I quit from the menu for my tests. I haven't found any other reliable way to get it to checkpoint.

Such a stupid system.

I'm only really mad about the Collectible trophies being screwed up. The rest I can still achieve in this save.

I read on one of the loading screens that the game apparently saves your progress when you quit. But I honestly don't trust it.

Yeah I don't care about trophies especially if it fixes the other much bigger issue of not saving properly

Very stupid. I just tried killing myself in the game and then quitting thinking maybe that would trigger a checkpoint. Nope. When I reloaded my save I'm back at the lifeguard station, which I was quite far away from before. Oh well.. I'm done with this broken game for tonight.
