They need to patch in a push to talk button for pc, so many damn mouth breathers or people blatantly having music/tv on in the background is annoying.
Yeah, it's really annoying.

So offensive, everyone knows there's no apostrophe in "erections".[/QUOTE]

Did you ask A/s/l atleast? Omg could have been a girl!!!

GAF be honest to me! After many Reviews and Streams there was a game that Dead Island reminded me: Far Cry 2.

Wait, wait, I meant because on the huge landscape and all, like the Island in this game, so I have to ask: Does this game gets boring? It surely does not seem that way, zombies give me more rush to go to point A to point B and the RPG elements sure make it superior, but... I feel a little worried. Just a little.

Care to ease my troubles, please?

this game is great. i think maybe the quest rewards are specific to your character, since I picked Xian and always get some kind of blade weapon as a reward.

if you play as someone else presumably you get their kind of weapons?

i think the blunt guy is probably the best though since it seems very important to be able to hit them from a distance before they get too close to you, which is best done with the blunt weapons. i'm finding it really hard to fight thugs with blades. hopefully later on you get longer sharp weapons.

also blunt guy has the recharging health skill which i imagine is very useful

lol. you just can't fucking escape!

Shocked a game that cheese is Mature.

PS3 version still doesn't prompt for a patch. Someone said it was out, but I don't have access to it.

Anyway, about 6.5 hours in, still haven't had a single issue with the game.

Only available for EU atm is what I read earlier.

Haha tell me that's not on Xbox Live

Steam, the naming terms are quite a lot more... relaxed than Live. It's a weird multiplayer system which leads to challenging decisions like "do I join a game with a guy who loves pulsating erections?"

On another note, the size of the areas in this game is ridiculous. I'm still in the first area
about to go down into the hotel garage and get the truck.
The thing is I am really sick of this area already because I've spent so much time exploring and looking for side quests while ignoring the main quest. I might try clearing the main quest as quickly as possible in the next zone so that I can take the rest in at my own pace, I hadn't realised I'd be able to zone back and forth.

Also blades chick is really gimped until you get a blade with some reach like the bolo machete.

There's at least two more after the first one, I have quests for the 2nd and 3rd zones already.

Man ... that's awesome! I honestly only believed the game plays out in the one zone .. I saw the portals but assumed it's portals to much smaller areas (like a garage).

I'm stuck in the same situation as you, I spent the first few days just exploring the island and doing side quests, afraid of rushing the main story. Oh well time to dive in again!!

Latest patch overwrote my Video.scr settings so if you've made any changes here to up the graphics quality or disable Vsync you will need to redo the file. I'll be making a backup this time...

Managed to play some of this today after its EU release on steam. About 2 hours in, just got to act 1 and suddenly I have hella side quests... The pace of the game seems pretty unrelenting, I have about 15 people that want me to do all their shit already.

Game looks beautiful, but the tearing is terrible with no V-Sync option apparently in the game. Guess I can tweak a text file to edit this?

Choose stabby secretary lady, seems ok so far, got plenty of bladed weapons already, just ditching the bats/oars etc.

For MacGaf as well, I'm playing this on the 2011 17"MBP via bootcamp at 1680x1050 at full detail and it's super silky smooth with the 6850m 1GB

Man the difficulty ramps up once you reach the city. It forces you to run, more than fight, unless you're playing co-op... Molotovs and deodorant nades are a most here.

I ran into a really annoying part of the city. The infected keep re-spawning (almost Call of Duty like). They came wave after wave. I thought it was a glitch, until I moved maybe twenty feet and they stopped coming. I must have killed at least 30 of them in that one area.

In addition. I had no idea bullets weren't transferable. If you own two guns. Say one has 9 rounds, and the other has two. If you sell either one you lose the ammo it had inside as well. I learned that the hard way when I sold a gun (it had less value, and was weaker) containing 17 rounds, only to find out those 17 rounds didn't transfer to my other gun. Now I have 1 round. :/ Too add insult to injury, there was no buy-back option for the gun.

holy shit. I was really enjoying Dead Island on a bug free ps3 playthrough until an hour ago.

Was doing
The Purest Evil, Pure Blood
in act 3, which is an escort mission. Eventually we got to a town with six walkers, a thug, and a butcher. My AI escort kept dying, but rather than reload my last save, Dead Island would restart me minus all the ammo I had spent, the medkits I had consumed, and weapon damage I had "used.' Eventually the game bled me dry and it was literally impossible for me to continue because I would get eviscerated with just the weapons that were there. The AI would die in about ten seconds every time, and I had no means of healing myself or fighting back.

And there's no way to quit out and restart missions, right? No way to go back to the beginning of a single mission.

I'd really like to think that I didn't just spend (and loved, honestly) 20 hours of this game for nothing.

edit: Thought of something. if any gaffer(s) would be so kind as to join my game and help me own this shit I would be grateful.

Damn. I have a PS3 copy still in the shrinkwrap but this thread has done nothing but make me hesitant on opening it.

I got 2 keys now in "My Games" tab on the GMG website. Is it still the second key for the game or is it the Bloody Bath DLC this time?

Edit: Just tried it, it was Blood Bath DLC

I tried them both. It was the second for me. Steam rejected the first for obvious reasons.

Or you can simply check "read-only" in the file properties.

Unfortunately, that's not a bug. That was one of the knocks the game got in one of the early reviews. (I forget which one.) Any of the items you used in a failed mission never come back.

I've been playing all afternoon. I'm having so much fun with this shit it's unreal - and I've played a majority of the story in single player. I'm on Chapter 5 right now and the game is just brilliant. Even the guns feel spectacular. It may just be one of my favorite games of all time.

Will definitely be my new game to jack off to with my friends.

HELP!

I'm on the mission "Seek N Loot."

I went to both gas stations and I have the two packs of juice in the car and I'm back at the lifeguard tower, but I have no idea what to do or how to turn in the quest.

Edit: never mind, I figured it out

PS3 version is definitely playable. I played coop with 3 of my buddies for like 12 hours and had a lot of fun. Sure the game is pretty janky, rough, texture pop in, low lod, shadow glitches, and a janky mini map, but damn is it fun. I can overlook the issues since the game is just a blast to play. Framerate is decent enough, can get choppy sometimes, and inviting friends doesn't always work on the first invite. Even with all these issues, the game is totally worth it especially in coop with friends.

Yeah, I bet you had the same problem as me: where to put the juice boxes, lol.

How many people are sticking with analog? I have never played without it. I feel though like Thugs are much tougher with analog as I can't run in and out quick enough.

I've stuck with it. It's led to many, many a death, but I just hate feeling like I'm pressing the win button over and over if I play with any other control scheme.

How exactly are you losing quest progress? You are aware that if you join someone else game under certain conditions it won't save right?

I agree, just feels much more satisfying.

this game has definitely been my sleeper hit of the year. i didn't even expect to enjoy it as much as I am.

My thoughts exactly. I went in not expecting much at all, figured I would enjoy the idea of the game more than the gameplay itself. It is actually the other way around haha.

I play solo. I swear to god if I have to grab this teddy bear one more fucking time... I lost my awesome weapon pickups!

I am sticking with it. There is just something satisfying with flicking the stick and seeing my weapon bust open the skull of some ugly zombie lol.

I really enjoy that I can essentially lower/raise the difficulty myself by either going Digital or analog.

So is the game crashing or what?

No. I take breaks and do other stuff. I wait until the game saves and then I quit out. When I come back, my progress is gone and I have to do it all over again. It's complete bullshit.

The last time I had to walk all the way there, fighting all the zombies by myself, and then I get the damn bear and go all the way back. Hey but at least I found a really awesome weapon pickup.

I mess around until the game decides it wants to save. I turn it off. When I come back, I'm in the godamned life guard shack staring at whatshisname and my quest progress and pickups are gone. It's telling me to go get the bear again. Again.
