why is there an invisible chick coffee and throwing up? lol. so annoying.

Haha... I have the same bug. It makes me hate going in there to buy shit and look for stuff because you constantly hear her and she never shuts up. Plus... like you said, she's invisible.

I finally got a firearm after a wicked annoying escort mission. Better still be there when I load up the game tomorrow. I do not want to do that over again.

And I just cannot finish this teddy bear mission. Every time I try something happens.

So, I was just looking at Steam stats, 32,089 peak for Dead Island today, pretty amazing after all the problems. I can see the game having good legs if they continue fixes all the shit they left broken. Poor Space marine can barely do 15k, should have had the coop in from the start.

it's okay. Dead island didn't have coop working until recently lol. we just love them zombies.

This is probably a redundant observation, but as much as I love Space Marine, it is really, really damaged on the PC by having no dedicated servers and no server browser.

Bought Dead Island based on Gaf's recommendation, and even though I was skeptical last week, I'm really enjoying it.

I read on one of the loading screens that the game apparently saves your progress when you quit. But I honestly don't trust it.
It does. I use it everytime, and everytime I load up it has all of my progress up to that point saved. For example, I'll run to one end of the island where it's a 10 minute trek back, save there, reload and bam I'm at the safehouse with everything I picked up on the way.

Have you been quitting to the XMB directly everytime?

No, I quit through the game menu. I just don't do it until I see the hazmat autosave thing go off.

I want to quit for the night and I'm walking around waiting for this game to decide to save. Is there any known place to trigger saves? I walked to areas that I assumed would be checkpoints. This is fucking annoying, wish I could just save manually.

Fast travel triggers autosave, I believe.

You know I suppose this does work. I guess it saved everything I had, but I'm not sure. I really wish I could just save where I want and reload exactly where I left off instead of starting all the way back at a safehouse. Kind of prohibits exploration.

Damn, thought I was onto something, like maybe the XMB quitting messes up the save somehow. Hope that gets sorted out for PS3 players soon, it really is a great game.

I love this game. I'm on chapter 4, have had some very harrowing moments. Zombie game of the generation? I think so.

One nitpick (Xbox 360):

When going through inventory, especially when selling or buying things, the cursor/selected item likes to skip around for seemingly no reason. So if I want to buy, say, 5 health packs, I buy one, cursor skips somewhere else, I navigate back to health packs, then the cursor skips again. Rinse repeat. It's annoying and I dont understand why they let that happen.

so, what's everybody playing, analog or digital? Also, if you're playing on the pc, keyboard and mouse or 360 controller? I'm gonna start this mother as soon as I finish deus ex.

This is the first game I've come across that is forcing me to choose between wasting my money on a game I can't play or pirate it and be able to play offline(which they NEVER said, isn't that illegal to not point out a requirement like that?). Yep, those are the 2 options I've been given. Oh or wait god knows how long until the developers figure out a way to change it and bring it to the standard of every other single steam game. No ETA and with a list of biggest issues to deal with, that means it'll be ages away. This is ridiculous. Never buying a techland game again.

I'm playing kb/m. Guy I just had a game with though was enjoying it with a 360 controller for the analog controls.

Might try it later.

My only real gripe thus far is the save system. I would have much preferred if you could save at safe locations like the lighthouse.

Steam's offline mode works fine guy.

I think it's bullshit that they didn't include analog controls with the mouse/keyboard setup. I tried it on the 360 pad, and it seemed cool, but I hated everything else about using a controller. I want to use mouse/keyboard and also have control over where I swing my weapon! Damn.

Not for me and a lot of other people. Techland came out and said they are looking into getting it working in offline mode but that's it.

Weird :/
Used the VPN trick to unlock early and had to play in offline mode, which worked fine.
Oh well, goodluck on finding a solution. But I imagine with the rate of updates, cracks will be annoying.

Anyone have the issue where you gain an achievement and the game freaks out and stutters Terribly?
Achievements are fine for me, but it does this for challenges for me. I'll complete a challenge and the game runs at like 2 FPS for about 10 seconds. Very problematic when driving, of course. :p

Holy shit!

I though I'd try it with a 360 controller. I'm a M&K purist 99% of the time, but goddamn. Playing this game with a 360 controller is a whole new world. It is absolutely clear to me that it was designed with the controller in mind, and playing it with analog combat is unbelieveable. Such a visceral experience - lopping off a zombie head with a meat cleaver and actually controlling the arm is a very unique feeling.

I love this game. I was sure that Space Marine would be my game of September, but this seems to have eclipsed it. This gives me the same doomy feeling that the first Dead Rising had. It is working perfectly here on two different machines, too - in contrast to a lot of the reports I'm hearing. I'm just lucky, I guess.

So. For those of you who can - and haven't yet - plug in a 360 controller. It'll blow your mind.

Can we stop spoiling areas? I already knew what the 3rd and 4th chapters were going to be without even wanting to know. :\

I totally media blackout myself a lot these days, because I like games to be as fresh as possible.

Seriously, I was totally aghast when someone described you could cut zombies heads off. It spoiled the whole game.

I have a good Katana, and i feel like a fucking samurai... i just go to the city level, and walk arround killing everybody with gentle and controlled moves. Its bad ass, i really LOVE the combat.

So is there like a port that needs to be forwarded for the PC version, I can't seem to connect to any co-op game and inviting or being invited doesn't seem to work either.

We all just keep getting this message "This game session is no longer available"

I'd be totally down for coop Sunday night, but I have a totally loaded week ahead of me school-wise. That's why I've been playing so much this week because I've got to get shit done this weekend/next week.

So that's a maybe. :p

Yes, happened to me and one friend. I got it twice, and decided not to use XMB chat.

Give a little more details. Are you in the supermarket or you are about to go there. You will
find a container with boxes of juice and a cart. Push the cart and the mission is done.

I seemed to have broke my game somehow...I am trying to start the quest "It's never too late"
and I have saved Jin from the police station but the armored truck no longer is out the front of the church

I have tried zoning out and back in again, restarting game etc...but I can no longer progress that quest.

Anyone else had the same issue ?

I don't think port forwarding is needed, it appears to use UPnP.

On another note, i accidentally got disconnected while driving a truck and my coop buddies told me the truck just kept driving up a mountain while they sat there helplessly.

So I was planning on picking Dead Island up soon, but I was just wondering if the fixed version had been put up on Steam yet? Or is it still only the dev build version?

Also just out of interest if the fixed version is up on steam, did those people who downloaded the Dev build version have to redownload the entire game? Or was it just patched? Because if it required a redownload that must have been annoying. I'm looking forward to starting it though, although will have to drag myself away from Human Revolution first.

Fixed version is up but there are still plenty of issues (just read the thread for proof).

They only had to download a 100mb patch.

Heads up for PS3 players. If you want to play a different game on your PS3 after playing Dead Island, turn your console off first. Two games that I have put a ton hours into, Borderlands and GT5, have never crashed on me and they both have within minutes after a Dead Island session. PS3 memory does not like Dead Island hahah.

:lol if that's the case.

I would struggle to recommend this game to anyone right now. Maybe in a week or two.

Not solely based on that.

The crashes and glitches. I guess if they have a 360 then it's ok.

I'll be plugging in my PS3 controller for my next session.

Looking forward to analogue mode and no crashes due to pressing Enter.
