Well, played rank against a 1 bar. Got the trophy, I doubt I'll play that mode anymore and will just stick to simple matches so I don't have to worry about ranked people. *shrug* That is if the online will work since it takes forever to find a match and generally finds one bars.

In other news are there any trophy lists for this game yet? I got one by accident a few minutes ago that was a fun and pleasant surprise when I defeated Pai with a
power blow on the warzone stage by knocking her into the helicopter
using Jann Lee. It was hilarious and I don't guess I ever saw that particular move on the PS3 version.
 
It's a powerblow and some of the trophies are 1:1 with the PS3 version. Only change is a reduction in match count for online (DOA5[+] is my life went from 1000 online matches played to 500), and new features (touch fight, OMG, tutorial)
 
Those were removed. Touch, Tutorial, and OMG replaced those.
 
Thanks. I found the Trophy List. I just searched badly earlier (my google-fu was weak!) using DOA 5+ instead of spelling it out "Dead or Alive 5 Plus". I'm not usually concerned with Trophies but I do like to know what actions trigger what Trophies and if I'm close to getting one.
 
Was hoping to pick this up at Target today because of the buy 2 get 1 free sell. None of the ones around here had it. Ended up getting the last copy at a Gamestop. Wish I pre-ordered it and got some free DLC.
 
Just unlocked the OMG setting. It puts the bounce back to DOA1 levels of ridiculousness. But Tecmo still fails to steal the crown of most perverted game from Senran Kagura, lol.

Off topic but Tecmo/Team Ninja related - I played the demo of NG3 Razor's Edge the other day and you can bounce Ayane and Kasumi's boobs just by shaking the PS3 controller. Was that in the original NG3 too, or something that was added to Razor's Edge?

Anyway, Omega asked: DOA:Paradise is basically a port of DOAXBV2 but removes jet-skis and the water-slide of hell (which is the only thing I don't miss) and includes Rio (from some game I'm forgetting) and a tutorial with Lisa from the get-go/first starting of a vacation on starting the game the first time.

Oh, and a guide for the girls which is kinda useful but since Itagaki screwed with the gift giving stuff from XBV1->2 isn't really a sure science.

That said: It's DOA XBV, so if you like XBV it's alright-ish. Major issues is the lack of a second stick so for volleyball they make the left-right triggers "passing" defense/"blocking" attack for the AI and L+R being "go freely"/normal for the AI behavior. A little weird to use but if you get used to it it's basically the same as the other XBV titles in volley ball.

Weirdly though, they don't use the "4-button" hard/soft attack/defense(pass) option that the X-box version had. Since the PSP never had analog buttons (to my knowledge?) they basically made it still 2-buttons for attack/defense. A little weird, but okay...

Oh, yeah and the game has custom soundtracks if you "put the music in the music folder" (so basically ms0:/music/ if I remember PSP file-folder structure) while DOA5+ apparently doesn't have that functionality?

Graphically: It isn't really a looker but that's partially due to the 4x pixel blowup. I'm sure at the PSP's native resolution it looks alright but not going to be a stunner.

I don't really regret getting it since hey it's DOA XBV and a good "summer" game so I can play it in a few months along with saving $30 on it since Tecmo is insane and wants $40 for it normally off PSN. But Lyte and Leona's right: If you got $10 and want swimsuits, go get the DOA5+ ones.

Also it's kinda funny: Hitomi talks about DOA5 happening in Paradise but IIRC, there's no mention of that in her XBV2 intro. It's more DOA4 wasn't it?

How is it as a fighting game? I might convince a friend to get a copy as well if it's solid. Dat OLED and Portability factor.

As a competition fighting game it isn't the best, people say it isn't balanced but then if you cared about that you shouldn't be playing on a handheld anyway. What it is, is loads of fun. Imo it's easily the most fun portable fighter ever.
 
Any tips for someone that sucks at fighting games? I am really terrible at this game. Struggling against the default versus difficulty. Trying to block, but I'm so bad at reading what to block\counter. I've done about the first 30% of training. The game looks nice at least..

It's a watered down Virtua Fighter. It's not the best 3D fighting game but it can get competitive; just the series has been shunned because, well look at this thread and see how many times people mention boobs. Here are some people actually playing this game well:

I finally got 2 wins in a row againt the PC. Was 1-50 previously. Haha, finally some progress. Is there a recommended character for people who lack skill? I only have the demo for now.
 
Are the Paradise suits out in Japan? Or only in the gravure movies so far I'm guessing.
 
Won my first (non-ranked) match online. My opponent seemed to disconnect at the last minute (close but I was winning) then it was fight over and I got credited for the win.
 
Are there any new outfits in this game? I've been doing some practice and at least twice its told me I unlocked something but I don't see anything new. Bug with cross-saves or something?

You unlocked titles, I wager. Not outfits. Outfits are online or arcade.

Actually I was in messing around in time trials with Kasumi when it happened.
Since I'm at work with no WiFi I work on my execution in arcade mode. I'll try some again later to see if it happens again, perhaps with a different character.
 
I think people are playing this online. I just thing the games matchmaking is horrific at finding people to play with. I always find someone and it always takes about the same amount of time. That time is just crazy long. Amazing port other than that crap.

There's training costumes, you unlock it the last one, I unlocked it for Ayane.
 
So training costumes are unlocked somewhere in training plus? Tried all the training modes except for free training and I got nothing except titles
 
Alright I'm having trouble with the part of the tutorial where you have to cancel a power blow with a sidestep. I can't seem to make sidestep occur but instead the power blow either finishes or just stops charging. What am I doing wrong?
 
getting a tad frustrated with these combo challenges. They couldve put in a preview option.
The online is pretty bad. they cut the fights needed in half but tripled the time it takes by removing lobbies. Would much rather them 2 options then this shitastic touch garbage.

What do you have your side step set to? Up/down f+p+k or up up/down down
 
Command training is crazy hard. I can't pull off 1P+K 3P+K 5P+K to save my life. :/
