From what I remember of the previous Xtremes (mostly just the first one), they really liked restricting the camera to keep you from certain angles, which does not play well in VR. They're hopefully going to get creative with in-world blockages if they still insist on that.

My guess is:

1. Professional production values

2. Some people like the characters/series

3. Some people prefer the tease/"almost there" approach over just watching some people bang (the anticipation and build-up is a much bigger deal, they may not even want to see the character entirely naked)

4. Over video, these characters will likely talk to you, make eye contact, etc. That's a big deal for some people.

My guess is:

The only two points that are valid are 2 and 3 these days, maybe a few years ago I'd agree but some adult entertainment companies such as Naughty America are already creating professional VR content where the women talk to you, make eye contact, all that stuff.

But I see your point, it would be cool to to have the more virtual/3D model approach with more of a video game built into it. I think that's more the key that you're not just watching a predetermined video, you sort of have control over the outcome of things. I just personally don't think I can justify PlaystationVR for myself yet. Maybe in 4-5 years when there's enough content for it.
