Dead or Alive Xtreme 3 new trailer and screenshots

Marie won't get cut. They might remove some outfits of hers or not allow her to wear some of the more risque outfits (hello venus) but Marie is way too goddamn popular for them to just cut.

She has practically taken over Kasumi's spot as the face of the franchise now and thats evident by the constant fan polls putting Marie in first place. But realistically I don't think they'll bother bringing it over at all which is fine because the hardcore fans are going to just import the Asian version and be done with it.

I'd have my Asian English preorder locked in but I'm still deciding if I want the regular or CE :(

Doesn't anything nice come with the CE.

Oh yeah, Marie's pretty damn popular everywhere. There is no way they cut her.

Have they implied that they are worried about bringing the game over?

Anyway, if they do a model swap, Asian version gains more worth, because Marie isn't going to be cut there, and the swapped in character is going to be added into the game.

I should just buy the Asian version now.
Yeah. It's basically the best way to avoid a gutted western release that will likely never happen anwayd.

I don't see anything indicative of that in those quotes. I can't read the Chinese, but the Japanese interview just said They would maybe do a tuned version for the western market. Going from that to 'they are worried about releasing it in the west because of the backlash' seems like a bit of a jump to me.
An adjusted version could be something as simple as the swimsuits not falling off. Or it could end up not being changed at all.

the mousepad mostly, but I'd probably never use it and it's not worth essentially double the price I guess.

now that I typed that out I guess I don't really want the CE lol. shouldn't fall into the trick of paying for crap I won't use just because it's there.

I don't get the Marie hate. She's legal, so what's the problem? She can't be 10, she has boobs and butt.

It's a height thing, right? She's shorter than the rest of the cast, so maybe people are confusing that with her age.

Anyways Marie is as attractive as the other girls, so of course they would want to keep her in the game.

but the Japanese interview just said They would maybe do a tuned version for the western market.

If 'tuned' is the extent of what you'd imagine the censorship would be, you probably don't care to the extent of wanting an uncut version anyway. It's not much of an argument to say the game is coming to NA versus isn't.

It is in the 2nd to last paragraph from this article http://gnn.gamer.com.tw/6/121226.html .

Honestly I think the game will eventually make its way to the West, and have very little changed. I assume 3 months or so after the game releases they'll see they only sold XYZ amount of copies and figure out how they can bring it over. For the time being I am waiting to preorder an import copy, because I'd only get the standard version and I am not worried about it selling out. Something may change between now and Feb, but I think it is pretty obvious that at the very least we will not be getting this game around the same time as the Asian markets will.

I'm not saying that the game isn't coming to NA.
But the whole quote is basically:
"As a fighting game, there are more fans outside of Japan. But for the Xtreme series, an overwhelming amount of the fanbase is Japanese. Which is why this time, after much thought, we decided to release it for only Japan and Asia. Though if there is strong demand, we may release a version adjusted for the west."
Then you have people saying they will censor it, and probably remove Marie Rose and replace her with some unpopular girl (lol yea right) or that they are scared of the backlash.
This all seems to me like jumping to conclusions a bit.

I can't read Chinese da ze.

She just short and got itty bitty titties.

.

Nobody is saying you have to play as her if you don't like her.

Like the last game there will likely be a 100% trophy and it's going to piss me off incredibly that I have to do a friendship route with a painfully boring and borderline creepy character like Marie.

But this is just me being bitter that Christie isn't in. I don't want to derail anymore. Let's talk about titty again

If I wanted to play as a flat chested character in DOA I'd stick with Eliot.

Hey, I've been waiting for a small breasted character in DoA forever. Mila is great, but I wanted smaller.

Marie Rose is cute as a button, but going for the washboards went too far. Also I like my women tall.

One day, I feel it.
Or make best girl Mila slightly smaller, which would make her even better.

In Asia, especially among Chinese,Japanese & Koreans, petite-sized adult girls are not uncommon. Our physicalities aren't the same as Caucasians.

I won't pretend and say Marie wasn't designed to cater towards a preference like prefers cute & slender girls who are small in stature. She is, and the devs isn't ashamed to flaunt that with her cutesy "little sister" type acts. But statements like creepy and toddler is a bit excessive.

Isn't she supposed to be Swedish?
Come on, she looks like a 12 year old and it is kinda weird, especially in contrast to the rest of the "fully developed" women in the game. It just seems... strange to me.

The only thing we know about Vita version is

-it's 30fps

Nope. Fuck that then, lol.

True beauty is found in nature's imperfection.

This game isn't about "true beauty". You seem to have taken a wrong turn somewhere. This is everything modern society complains about... the impossible standards of beauty created by the media that nobody can realistically hope to maintain. You're not supposed to get lost in their eyes and shit. :P

That, and the you know, putting her in child style outfits.

And giving her childish mannerisms, etc. It's not one thing, it's everything. The arguments for her not coming across as a child basically stop at "they said she's 18".

I'm talking about the mindset of devs when creating characters like Marie Rose, whom if they were made by more western-inclined devs, the physicality of the character would be more of a "huh, that's strange" because of a small-sized adult girls are less common comapared to Asian territories.

And I stand my case. In my workplace alone, I know about 10 girls in their 20s-30s who have the physical body shape and height as Marie.

Like I said, I agree Marie was designed with an "appeal" in mind. I won't deny that. I just feel that some of the language being used against it is a little bit excessive.

She's Caucasian.

I feel like the real argument is closer to"she was designed by Japanese devs who never bothered to think how an actual 18 year old Swedish girl would act, and are instead paraphrasing their own culture's female representation onto different nationalities to make it more exotic"

I mean, Marie Rose acts atypical of gravure idols who's primary traits and selling features are their cuteness. I'm not going to link to any of them here, but Google is your friend for those who want to be weirded out by adult Japanese girls in swimsuits doing weird stuff that feels like they're pretending to be younger than they actually are.

I think her inclusion is and has been fucking disgusting from the start, to be brutally honest.

"Creepy toddler" is about as mild as it can get.

Why didn't they make her Asian if those body types are common?

Because a large amount of the cast is already Asian? There are Caucasian women like Marie Rose out there so... -shrug- Maybe it makes things more exotic to the Japanese fans this way.

You replied to that post as though it's not refuting an argument.

And then edited in a pretty poor addendum, I see. "More exotic" LOL sure.

It's not Marie Rose's physique that's offputting. It's her physique + her demeanor + the children's outfits she wears.

Fuck yeah it's creepy and disturbing.

Eileen in VF is a character with a similar build and there's nothing creepy about her at all.

No, no it's not. Toddlers are ages younger than even preschoolers. I find that choice of words extremely offensive, given that there are victims in the real world who are actual toddlers.

I'm personally fine with just about everything else, but personally just I don't agree with the word toddler. Underage teen, go ahead.

That's just me being anal about it though.

You replied to that post as though it's not refuting an argument.

Because there is really nothing to refute.

I hope those creeped out by Marie never looked twice at Ayane in Ninja Gaiden because she was actually 14. Now the troll they put in is Marie is the oldest 18 year old in da game. Ayane still is the youngest. Even her sister is older.
Now you ask which sister and the mystery begins

I really couldn't give a fuck what age they attribute to the characters. Age doesn't define a person's body type.

Developer's intent behind the character is blatant, and that's where I have an issue.

Be disgusted about it all you want, I don't agree with the word toddler. Underage teen, go ahead.
This is a video game, where no 18 year old characters are being victimized as result of underage sexual assault, and aren't real people. I would think you have the ability to tell the difference between fiction and reality regardless of portrayl.

It's an insult to real abuse and assault victims that you even try to equate the two, and I say this as someone who had to help a a childhood friend that recently came out about being a victim.

... Fair enough. I wasn't being considerate of it, and wrote in poor taste. I apologise.

The reason I'm really bothered about it is because I've had friends whose personal lives were significantly damaged through false accusations and jokes of extremely poor taste, labeling them as pedophiles or poor choice of words that ultimately went out of the inner circle of jokes and get taken seriously by other people.

That can happen from time to time sadly. People get misunderstood and shit happens. :(

That said to some Marie is off putting. The real question is what market has the more money to put into the game. Because that's really what will set the agenda.
