Dead Rising 2: Case Zero |OT| A Taste of Whats To Come!

0.jpg

Ok.....so I’m going to keep this all nice and simple and just get straight to the point:

• Case Zero will be a 360 exclusive DLC download. It will be available on the Xbox Live Marketplace on August 31st priced at only 400 Microsoft Points! It comes with 12 achievements and is rumoured to last roughly 2 hours, but can last 6+ hours if you want to do everything! The basic set up is that it takes place 3 years before the events of Dead Rising 2, and Chuck’s daughter Katey has been infected and he must save her life while killing hundreds of zombies, building combo weapons, re-building a motorbike, saving other survivors and even killing your first psycho! All this will be happening in a place called Still Creek. The player can also reach up to level 5 in Case Zero, after which the player may carry over his experience and cash earned into Dead Rising 2.

• Click here if you wanna see a trailer.

• And here are some nice screenshots:

Day one.

Is this going to be released like an Arcade game? I am assuming the file size for this is going to be pretty huge.

Good question. I'm not sure if it's going to act as DLC or an Arcade game......and it's rumoured to be 825MB in size.

The game has been getting a bunch of unfair bad rep ever since they showed the multiplayer mode early in the development cycle. Criticism like "Americanized" or "Lack the Japanese Weirdness" blah blah blah has been throwing around ever since that showing.

It's like one bad preview of an extra mode has doom the game for eternity. It's the story mode that is important about Dead Rising, and what they showed so far has been awesome all along.

I believe its being counted as an arcade game. It has 200 achievement points coming with it, so that should confirmation enough.

Locksmith – Unlock all the doors in Still Creek – 20G

A Taste of Things to Come – Build a combo weapon – 10G

A Bigger Taste – Build all available combo weapons – 20G

Part Way There – Find and return a bike part – 10G

Ready to Ride – Rebuild the Bike - 20G

Small Town, Deep Pockets – Spend $100,000 in the pawnshop – 20G

Zombie Exterminator – Kill 1,000 zombies – 20G

Zombie Hunter – Kill 100 Zombies – 10G

Chop Shop – Defeat Jed the Mechanic – 20G

We Ride to Fortune City! – Escape Still Creek with Katey – 20G

Still Creek Savior – Save all the survivors in Still Creek – 20G

sounds like a paid demo to me

YES ITS A PAID DEMO. I MEAN, YOU KNOW, IT'S NOT LIKE IT'S A TOTALLY UNIQUE AREA WITH UNIQUE CHARACTERS NOT FOUND IN THE ORIGINAL GAME OR ANYTHING.

This shit should be in the OP.

Hopefully the framerate was improved since the Comic Con demo, because it was ass on both systems once a shit load of zombies hit the screen.

The 'paid demo' shit should be bannable.

I still hate the main character´s model. Such a douchebag.

And why exactly is he a douchebag? He's funny! I have a feeling I’m going to like Chuck even more than Frank.

Watching someone play this early and seeing him interact with his daughter pretty much sealed the deal for me.

Was just asking my friends today how much this was going to be, wasn't expecting 400 points. I remember reading that there would be some unlockables that would carry over too, like costumes and something related to the combo's. Definitely looks like i'll be picking this up on the 31st. Any word on avatar awards? If there's 12 achievements I wouldn't be surprised if something was given for killing 1,000 zombies or one of the harder achievements.

Doesn't this come out on PS3 too? Why is this 360 only? This isn't some kind of port begging post, I'm just genuinely confused.

I think more reasonable complaint might be "This is just a prologue cut from the main game, being sold separately to make an extra $5."

That said, I'm a sucker for Dead Rising and will almost certainly buy this.

Can't wait to pick this up. I have been looking forward to Dead Rising 2 for the past 4 years and this will give me a chance to see what it will be all about.

And paid demo? As others have said, this content isn't even in Dead Rising 2 and I will be able to carry over PP, costumes, and hopefully some combo cards too.

Not sure why this is exclusive to XBLA. Hopefully PC/PS3 owners can get a proper Dead Rising 2 demo before the game comes out.

Shush!
[sarcasm]
He's not Frank West so obviously he's a giant douche!

Why is it exclusive to 360? Good job alienating a potential fanbase Capcom. You have done everything so right this generation.

Because the original game was fully exclusive so they're throwing their original fanbase a small bone? It's not like sony didn't have their own share of 'exclusive content' at e3 this year :lol

I don't think this is the case, isn't the based on an entirely different area than the main game? Dead rising 1 had no such thing if I recall, you just start in the mall.

It's not a big deal to me but it really doesn't make sense at all.

Well I hope they have the sense to put a free demo out on PSN. I could've been a potential customer. Oh well.

It might not make business sense (unless MS paid) but considering DR was a big 360 exclusive I don't see why anyone who cared about it would give a shit about buying it on ps3 in the first place.

Dead rising started on xbox, it being the primary platform is not really weird or anything, i'm not even sure why so many who didn't care about DR1 on xbox care about dr2 on ps3 -_-

Capcom would be better off bringing DR1 over to ps3 then anything.

Edit: I'm sure they will release a free demo for ps3, maybe 360.

There doesn't seem to be much connect between DR1 and DR2. This isn't like Mass Effect 2 where PS3 owners miss out on an important part of the story. DR2 will work well on it's own.

People are always going to be angry about getting left out of this no matter what console its on.

Really hope I enjoy Case Zero, since it's going to make or break my day 1 purchase of DR2. I think the original Dead Rising is hands down the best exclusive on the 360, but the quality of this game seems totally up in the air at the moment.

It's hard to judge whether DLC is something 'cut' from the retail game, or something that was made with extra development resources anymore.

If it is a game someone care, they would say it is a DLC that's worthwhile. Imagine you are a big Halo/Starcraft fan, if Bungie or Blizzard announce they are making a full extra Halo/Starcraft multiplayer mode as DLC for $5 - a month before Halo Reach / SC2 release date - as a way for fan to play while they wait for the game hits, and this mode will not be available in the full retail game, would you say it is 'cut from the retail game' or a treat for its fan?

400 points isn't so bad. I might pick this up. I'm still not excited about the main character of Case Zero and Dead Rising 2 though. Seems so generic.

One can always hope that stuff like that stop happening.

It's a shame I won't be able to play this. It sounds great (and cheap).

For the people that are unsure about the quality of the game, I really want to know what is the doubt and where is this doubt came from? Is it from the one multiplayer mode preview they did back in the early days of development? Because that reveal of the extra multiplayer mode was the time the whole community go 180 on the series, and Dead Rising is not even about the multiplayer.

So question. Why is it being released on Tuesday? I don't want to get my hopes up for a Tuesday release when I know XBLA games go up on Wednesday. Also, Im fucking pumped for this.

Does the game come with a download code for case zero?

If not, why not get it?
Because I'm not paying for extra content when I've already paid for the game itself.

Plus I got it on PC, so it can't carry over because Capcom decided they wanted to be assholes.

I'm hoping this is good, for the price I'll buy it if the buzz is good. Could be alot of fun and if I like it I will certainly consider buying DR2 when it comes out.
