Dead Rising 3 created "to go after the Call of Duty player"

It was kind of obvious that they were doing this from the first gameplay video that they released. It didn't have one funny thing in it except for a car mechanic calling in an air strike, and I'm not sure if they even intended that to be funny.

I have no idea what you're trying to say.

I am saying that if they wanted to go in this direction with this game, which is obviously a somewhat different direction than the previous Dead Risings, perhaps they should have just named it something else in order to not upset the fanbase. It would have quelled these complaints. But, for me personally, I could give a fuck because it looks like a load of fun.

Most games that go "go after the Call of Duty player" are usually one and done, some have even blown up the developer as a result.

I was impressed with the game play they showed. I've heard that the humor is still there for those folks who like it to find.

Speaking for myself, DR2 appeared way too campy to me to the point that I never picked it up. So this looks great to me.

I can have my wife call in airstrikes for me :)

Could you give some examples? I know the Medal of Honor team was disbanded by EA, are there other ones?

It still retains the core elements and ideas of the other games with stylistic changes and a more open environment. If you don’t like that – fine. Calling it ”a complete change in direction” is disingenuous.

Edit - I'll just leave this here. Really good chat between the developer and Sessler. I was as concerned about some here until I watched it.

WHAT WHAT WHAT?

It is a complete change in direction, both in tone and gameplay. You only need look at the damn video and the various bits of info that have come to see this that it no longer retains its core elements, but has undergone a complete shift.

What the hell are are you talking about man?

The psycho bosses will also return, although we weren’t shown any during our time with the game. “Zombies aren’t intelligent enough to be the boss, our social commentary, which is about this thick, because we're lighthearted, is that zombies are kind of the symptom of the evil of humanity,” he stated. “That’s why there’s an outbreak, and you’re going to come across survivors that are friendly, and survivors that are crazy.”

...
The soul of the first two games is definitely still here, although it's hidden under the veneer of a serious horror game, and that makes the jokes land even harder.
