Thanks for this. Ill check some safehouses then.

The blocked off things pissed me off. I went a huge way to get to some cemetery and it turns out that entire section was blocked off and i had to go all the way down the other side of the damn map.

There was this one mission where it's under a free way pass, but on the map it shows you are right on top of it. But you really aren't, and you have to go all around town and go down a specif road that leads you under to that area. Lol I spent like 30 min trying to figure it out. And every time I tried to get there quicker, I hit dead ends blocked off.

I really am loving this game. But yeah, the map is kind of frustrating.

i know its bad but sometimes i really wished these kind of games had an optional Fable golden Trail where you click in the right stick and it shows you the path where to go..

I beat this the other night. Really good fun but I think its a step back from 1 and 2. First the color pallet change takes a lot of charm out of the game for me. Also the city is not as fun to explore as the mall or the casinos in DR2. Towards the end it gets outright annoying to get around. Also think the game got a bit to easy, the psychos are a hoke compared to older games. The roll is to strong and the fact you can spawn any weapon you want just zaps any tension from the game.

Don't get me wrong I still like the game but it's just not as good as the other ones.

Wow! When and where to you get that? I just completed chapter 7 on normal.

It's a "golden" combo weapon. The thing with the golden combos and super combos is, that you find 3 of them - the normal one, then the upgraded one, and then the super one. And it does not matter where you find it, since you will get the first no matter the location, then the second and so on. So you need to find all locations to get the fully upgraded one.

I now decided to post DR1, DR2 and DR3 for comparisons, and yes, the DR1 and DR2 shots are my direct feeds.

I'll say the jump is pretty big!

I don't remember DR1 looking so bad, maybe it's just a bad shot?

Anyway, DR3 does indeed look a massive step up over DR1 and DR2. There's no contest really. Also, I got fooled by own reflection last night, was a hilarious and head slapping moment...

Ultimate Grim Reaper is amazing, got to level 50 like nothing.
Also mega man buster did not appear in my locker.

So where does one find the grim reaper schematic?

I honestly don't remember most of them, lol. I know one of the three is in the little playground nearby the first mechanic shop, it's a blueprint near a slide that has a frank west statue on top.

i can't comment on DR2 and 3, but DR1's zombie count increases as you progress through the game to increase difficulty. how you approach an area will also change the zombie count as the zombies are distributed if you can see more of the area.

judging by your kill count and level, you just started the game. if you take a screenshot of the beginning of day 3, i'm fairly confident to say that there would be a lot more zombies on screen.

Ingelton (Top Left Section), First Blueprint for a Grim Reaper is located next to Wrench O Rama in the alley (climb up the truck). After that you just get the blue prints in the area.

Thanks. Will look for it when I get home. Speaking of blueprints, has anyone found the flaming sword one yet? Location would be greatly appreciated.

Yup, especially in DR2 where the big Zombie numbers are outside. The tend to crowd near the exits.

For all the slaughtering DR3 got from Digital Foundary analysis, for me this is the best launch game on the X1 and probably the best launch game on any of the next gen systems. Technically I think it looks pretty incredible when you take into account what it;s doing. An open world game, no loading screens and nigh on everything is interactive. More importantly it's a bloody good game.

I definitely do admire what they technically tried to achieve with this game, but I feel like they just ported the DR2 engine they used and bumped up the textures, game engine is in need for an overhaul.

Um, that game has always looked like that:

So I beat the Story mode today and got a level 50, I saw there was a challenge for beating the game on Nightmare so I thought I might as well give it a go, just going plain story. To beat the game skipping all the cutscenes on nightmare took me just under two hours, didn't even get to finish the new bombcast :p

Two hours of just doing the story? No survivors or anything?

That's good going. Do the bosses/psychos do more damage in nightmare mode?

Wait does story level carry over to Nightmare? Seems kind of cheap!

I wanted to do the challenges so I finally threw in my copy of DR3 and started playing Nightmare in earnest from level one... Had a hard time finding porta-potties. Got to what I think assume the second half of the final normal time boss fight. Got about halfway through it.. ran out of time... save gone... ugh. But now I'm blasting through having started at level 25. I would have made it but I did some extra sidequest stuff because I don't think I understood how the timeline worked. Seems like in-between-chapter waits are enforced even if you are 'behind', I had assumed that if it told me to go explore that meant I was ahead of the game and was on pace to finish comfortably. When I was still on chapter 6 and under 12 hours left I kind of figured out I was in trouble.

I didn't play DR2 more than a few minutes (been meaning to remedy that), but from what I remember DR1 gave you a story timeline that showed you when chapters become available, and when they expire. Wish they would have kept that system.

Kind of hoping that doing it on Nightmare unlocks the story mode challenge as well. If not I guess I'll have to take this '2 hour' run later in the day tomorrow once I finish Nightmare. I haven't even looked at the achievements list since the challenges are so time-sensitive. I wonder how many playthroughs getting 1000G will take? Would be a shame to not get it for this game after having gotten it for the original. Getting Saint was good times.

Yeah, 1 and 2 both did that. I feel it's a fair shot, though, as 3 also has WAY more than than that, especially on the highway. Gets pretty insane.

Anyone know if there is any way to tell which weapon combos you have and haven't done.

I didn't realise there was an achievement for making them all, although I should have as DR2 had a similar one, and I may have picked up one or two blueprints in a rush without stopping to make them.

I don't want to have to go back and make everything just for the achievement.

I love the absurdity of the 'tragic moments'. The sad piano music playing with Nick's condolences opposite of the text is funny.

"This was no way to get ahead.", next to a decapitated corpse.

Oh, and the talking axe is great. It even makes a noise when you drop it. Had it say, "It's just a flesh wound."

The tragic moment text is so cringeworthy, I wish they had put some laugh track sound there instead of the sad piano music because NONE of them are serious in tone.

I knew it. I knew it.

Major spoilers/funny things for all of chapter 7:
-Figured Annie would end up being Katey. Really cool that it ended up being true.
-Press 'b' to combo Rhonda. Freaking Evil Dead all up in this and I loved it.
-The black little old lady was a hoot. I combo'd a car and she said, "Now you can be driving Miss Daisy!"

Anyways, had to quit right after due to some stuff, but man, am I anxious to get back to it tomorrow.

Okay, so Ultimate Shout > Ultimate Grim Reaper. 500+ combos in under 30 seconds; I literally run out of zombies before I run out of ammo.

Also, Indestructible Vehicles + Mobile Locker is amazing. I can finally carry five survivors around without constantly screaming at them to "Get in the f*cking ambulance before it explodes!".

So good.

Finished the game, and got my challenges, soon I'll be off to Story Mode to go completionist on this thing. Really enjoyed the game. I kind of think they should have Nightmare mode be the default and the reward for unlocking it be Story Mode but whatever... gotta cater to pansies I guess ;)

So fair warning do NOT let your controller die while playing MP. I was on chapter 7 trying to beat nightmare mode online asap to get the challenge completed. My controller conked out it crashed the game back to the home screen lost all my progress from my session (had been playing with the same guy since chapter 3)

Took the wind out of my sails but I still have about 14 hours to get it done.

mid way through chapter five with just over 36 hours left, am i going to make it?

Don't see why not. Just make sure you have a little pep in your step. If you have an awful few hours maybe avoid the porta-johns if you are having a rough go of it. I had about 9 hours for Chapter 7, or maybe the very end of Chapter 6 as well as 7. I did everything from that save, took a few reps, got those chapters down pretty well and in the end came up just short. If I were a little more efficient I would have made it.

Just in case though I would ignore non-story stuff if you haven't already started doing that. Too much to risk with little to gain IMO. It gives you time to explore after a chapter? Fine, but don't go running off to another quadrant of the city.

I'm skipping all the "collect 5 guns and 5 bits of food missions" cos I just can't be arsed running around. Anyone else doing this?
This game is fun but I still think the whole time limit thing is ridiculous. Even if it's large, it still makes me want to not explore everything in case I run out of time at some point.

I don't get the point of a time limit in an open world game when you are supposed to explore and collect items and be a completionist.

thankfully, i done most already and i'm level 50 now, trying to do the smartglass missions but the smartglass mission are REALLY glitchy in actually starting and continuing, they sem to 'cut out' a lot forcing a restart of both my phone and mainly the console.

btw you failed the time limit? were you still offered new game plus or whatever it is?

That's Dead Rising though - you would never get everything done in yourfirst palythrough. Restarting and keeping your character proressions is part of this franchise. I really like that aspect.

Sorry for sounding anti social, but how in the world do you turn off other players just dropping in? I really don't like having my game interrupted this way and find it even more infuriating that once someone else is in I can't even pause properly.

When you start a campaign you choose your initial play style setting.

If you want to change it after the fact:
Pause, go to Options > Play Style > Single Player
