Dead Rising demo TODAY. Now. :o

What if you don't stop them?
They knock you over and get it on with you.

Just kidding. By getting it on, I mean, eat you.

I've seen five cutscenes now

The three crazy Hunter Americans, the Psycho Religious Nut with the ****ing Big Sword [tm], the three stooges err escapee prisoners, and the 7:00 zombie hour, and the warehouse cutscene (I won't even say it - it's a HUGE hint at how the zombies came to be)

Bullshit, im not gonna have broadband access since i will be away. Why The **** could they not announce it sooner, i would have stayed up till it came on and left the xbox on over night :(

Looks awesome (LOVE the Jill's Sandwich reference). I really have a feeling that the EGM scores were because the game's shallow and not that long. Everything people are finding in the demo right now are awesome, but 20 or 30 hours in, or 2nd playthrough, maybe the novelty wears off.

Still, I wish I had a damn 360 to play this :(

Everyone mentions the EGM score like a 7.5 average (one score being an 8) is horrid. I don't understand.

probably, so its a good thing the game only lasts 6 hours!

We're saying we're having a way better experience than a 7.5 is allowed for.

It needs to be 8.5, at least.

Surprised no one has mentioned how amazingly lifelike this NPC is. Her eyes are mesmerizing. (as are her tits)

Gameplay is too repetetive for my liking. I'm going to pass on the final product.

I'll get it when it hits the bargain status. Maybe... :(

WHAT

I love the music

Especially the elevator music type mall stuff. so great.

Is the game really only 6 hours? Jesus Christ. It would have to be the best gamer ever to get scores higher than what EGM gave it then, ****.

yeah like tetris. i get bored making lines OVER and OVER again :P

for some of us, killing zombies NEVER gets old. espescially with so many ways to do it.

one play through takes six hours (that's not counting cutscenes and loading... that's six hours of pure gameplay), which unlocks a longer mode with more stuff, which also unlocks a longer mode. it's really open ended though, so it's reportedly a bit majora's mask. first time through you'll miss a bunch of stuff, second time through you'll see a lot more and save more people, learn more of the backstory, get to areas you didn't before... etc.

I'm leaving the music on while I do household chores - taking a break from such intense Dead Rising

And the mall is probably so fan****ingtastically huge I can't fathom.

I know lots of people here love THAT game (myself included)

I could barely hear any of that. Plus, you know, killing zombies to T.I.'s "I'm Talkin' To You". I mean, seriously. It's a must.

yeah uh, tetris and this game are quite a bit different. theres all sorts of issues with depth and yada yada yada

anyway, i DO like this game and will be purchasing it at some point, maybe ill wait for the japanese version (unless i can find it import on the cheaps)

Sweet, downloading now.

7.5, 8.5 it isn't a big deal. Besides, Xbox Live Marketplace demos has pretty much made listening to the opinion of professional reviewers less relevant than in the past, as we can now taste these games before release.

when you're in the menu, you can hear it clearly without zombie noises.

Who's T.I.?

The reason why the demo rocks so much? You didn't pay a dime for it :)
So yeah, it's an instant 9. Free stuff almost always tastes so much better.

After factoring in your hard earned $59 for the full game and the newness wears off, you may not agree that it deserves such a high score.

Just saw in the EGM thread the complaints against DR were:

"By far the largest complaint with Dead Rising was the archaic save system. You can only save at certain areas, and you only get one save slot. This, coupled with the game's time limit, can easily cause you to miss important story events and therefore force you to restart the game. Many times.

Other complaints included frustrating boss battles, brain-dead ally AI, and microscopic text (made for HDTVs) that is very hard to read on SDTVs.

Obviously they loved all the unique ways to mow down zombies - the game's main selling point. The game is fun, it just has some flaws."

The first part is kinda've annoying (you're forced to play through repeatedly to see everything), but whatever. The 2nd paragraph concerns me though.

That's a good point too. Even if I had a 360, I'd be renting this to avoid that.

I guess a lot of it has to do with how compelled you are by the story. Personally, I'm all over it. It reads like Stephen King novel. Not the deepest thing on Earth, but a whole lot of fun. After playing through the demo and seeing the available cutscenes, I'm legitimately interested in what happens next.

And plus, I noticed the Blender could be examined but there were no zombies around to test it on.

:D

Like I said, if the game was a smidge easier, it would be a wash, but it is just hard enough to make it a seriously tense ride.

The game is designed for multiple playthroughs, and if the demo is any indication of its replayability that is fine by me. I've already played through the demo more times than I can count

And, also, when I'm in the menu, I don't need the pummeling Just Blaze beatz propelling me onward into A Zombie Destroying Raaage.

demo is up in the US :D

downloading now.

When I saw your post here, I jumped up so fast that I knocked things over, flew past my half-naked roommate who was on the way to the shower, and had my Xbox turned on in like 1.2 seconds.

The funny thing is that as excited as I am, my roomie is even more excited about this game and he's still in the shower and had no idea that I'm downloading a demo for it. This is going to be interesting.

This is ****ing awesome.

same!

I could play this all day.. Killing zombies doesn't get old at ALL.

And the sheer volume of other weapons in the game is driving me NUTS.

Day One Purchase!

You have an XBox360 remote right? Just hit pause and the music will pause. When the cut scene is over hit play again? I know this isn't the "fix" you want, but that's how a lot of games are when it comes to custom soundtracks. This was even discussed in a recent Major Nelson podcast, as to why developers have their isuses with custom soundtracks (but that's taking this thread off topic and subject for another discussion).

I can't wait to play this game!! This thread is killing my productivity in the workplace today!! :lol

Thats the whole point, you have to play through repeatedly because its reall time. If you miss something, you missed it, its not scripted for your benefit. For me, it makes it more "real" than "enter shop x to trigger mission y"

where i'm looking at, dead rising has tonnes of depth. hundreds of very different weapons. open ended gameplay. rpg like stats system. deep photography system.

you know in the demo you can combine different food stuffs to make new foods that have different effects on you (baking ingredients + cooking oil in a blender gives you something that makes your spit really powerful for example).

to say it's 'just' killing zombies, when there's so much to it, is i think the same as saying tetris is 'just' clearing lines. i'm not saying it'll have the longevity of tetris, just that 'killing zombies' doesn't do it justice.

there's hundreds of ways to do that. some gory, some effective, some funny. i can see multiple playthroughs using different kinds of weapons, and so on.

They have fvcking shaders on the -GLASSES- people wear. :O

The boobie rigging is also A+++, Team Ninja should take notice.

The texturework is insane. Check out the DVD shop for some awesome movie titles

I MARRIED MY PANTS!
VICTORY AT RECESS
TEEN BEACH BRUHAHA
I'M NOT DEAD, I'M ASLEEP!
XYLOPHONE JAM SESSIONS <-- the box art for this one made me roofle

That save thing does sound a bit annoying, especially since my wife and I will both be playing it. (Wait, when it says One Save Slot, can you have different save strings at least? Like one game for each of us? I don't care if I can't have multiple saves for a game, but I'd really like to have one save string for each of us. Maybe I need to make her a profile. :()

I found something I do like!

You can actually hold hands (carry) with NPC's to lead them through dangerous area's! Very well done, awesome inverse kinematic animations and shit. And you can give them stuff, for example to raise their health.

Hey Kobey, can you confirm the nature of this save thing? Can I not have two seperate Save Strings?
