That was always a BS excuse that fed into Vince's paranoia at the time by those around him, granted Eric was the kind of asshole who would do that despite ramifications but considering the legal issues the WWF and WCW were tangled in I doubt Eric's bosses would've been okay with another huge one.


Also, IIRC wasn't Bret still under WWF contract for like a month? Which is partially why he didn't show up in WCW until mid-December?
