Deep Silver PR guy receives drugged drink at E3 party (intended for a girl)

I want to believe that this isn't exclusive to this industry and that other industries are equally shitty. I want to believe that this industry doesn't house the shittiest human beings. But I am finding it tough to believe otherwise. Holy shit.

This shit is awful, but from what I've heard about young boys in Hollywood, there's plenty of awful things happening in other entertainment industries.

i've heard of this, i never take drinks from strangers because of it. Is just like the candy advice for kids but in grown up version.
Super scary, you might wake up without a kidney or something.

I'm not certain we can tie this to the industry. This is not exactly irregular at events with large amounts of people gathering in general.

some disgusting low life. fucking sick human beings...actual not even, scum, that would go with the intention of drugging and raping someone.

Ladies, stay safe, and protect yourselves. never accept a drink you didn't get yourself

Damn, it seems a lot of guys get hit with this stuff as well, based on the responses in here and a couple people I know. I always worry about girls leaving their drinks unwatched, I didn't really think about mine.

Is this stuff prominent in gay bars and things as well?

My best friend get drugged once, by another guy. He was at the club, then he just woke up fully clothed next to some naked guy.

He got up and gtfo, I would've fucking killed the dude, no hesitation.

Spiking drinks is getting increasingly more common here at bar areas. It's not even necessarily used on women either, i know folks who've gotten drugged and then they wake up like in the middle of the street with their body aching horribly and robbed.

Never ever recieve a drink from anybody if you didn't see it being poured and try having it in front of you if seated or with a hand on top. Cause there's some sick fucks out there.

I can't exactly speak for statistics of it but I've seen it happen in a gay bar too. You should definitely always watch your drink as a guy too since drinks can get mixed up and it can be used to target someone for theft as well. Again I can't give statistics but I've known people this has happened to and have drank a spiked drink by mistake myself, likely since a lot of the girls I know are ale drinkers. Not mention the town I live in is rife with drugs and this is way to common here.

General idea is all people should be aware, but more importantly try to watch other people's backs. If you're ordering a drink is the time where you're most likely to be spiked since it's easy to distract you long enough to slip it in and the bartender is practically a non issue to them on a busy night.

Scary stuff. I never leave my drinks unattended or at least out of my line of sight because of this. It sucks you always have to be on the defensive but better safe than sorry.

Getting roofied is no joke.

Me and my buddy shared a drink we bought for his g/f after she decided she didn't want it.

Me and him both started feeling reaallyyy weird, and I'm no stranger to drugs and alcohol so I can handle my shit, but this was different from anything I've ever felt before.

It was like a normal drunk, but a lot more fuzzy and disorienting.

It's not about taking drinks from strangers. Just need your attention to be diverted for a few seconds and you could have your drink spiked.

Hopefully he gets the police involved.

What in the fuck!? Is there anyway you can see if drink has been spiked, like is it bubbling or whatever? That's some fucked up shit...

Man...that is some messed up stuff. If I ever went to one of those parties I'd insist on only drinking bottled water or something.

Very sad to hear what happened to Mr. Powers and others, I've been in that situation and can relate to how shitty it feels.

Related (sadly), but does GG even try to pretend to do the thing they claim to high heaven they're all about or or do they just go around victim blaming and calling people "cucks"? It's amazing how they expect people to take their "movement" seriously, when they very rarely display a shred of earnest conviction about a single thing their supposed to be "fighting for".

I've had that happen at pride when shooting it once. Small mercy that I got home with my camera stuff intact. Had puke on my clothes, 0/10 wouldn't want to go through it again.

It's amazing right. They started this whole ethics in journalism facade. While it may have been a legitimate complaint at the time it was just a vehicle for a hate machine.

No typically, however there has been some very special glasses created which will change color if the drink has been spiked but they're not very widely adopted at all yet and likely never will be unless drink brands themselves start making their branded glasses the same way.

I could see bar owners not liking the idea of those cups. Not just because they are probably pricey to take on in volume, but also they probably don't want their customers thinking about date-rape every time they take a sip of their drinks. But in a perfect world it would be standard and it would make catching the people who drug drinks a lot easier.

I believe there are some sort of strips or little things that you can test your drink where it will change colour if there is a drug in it.

I'd say it's almost certain there were multiple people. I don't know how common this is in the US but in the UK this has been a problem for a long time and was at one time at least disturbingly common. Given the thousands attending, just one person seems a low estimate.

Yeah, I guess that's unfortunately the more likely scenario. Just so many terrible people out there.

Did he go to the hospital to get checked up? Or make a police report? I'm not implying he's lying at all, it's totally believable but no contact with doctors or law enforcement? Just..Twitter?

That's a good idea, Everytime I go to a bar with my girl, I always tell her to never leave her drink unattended and always carry it with you.

They need to cover these places with cameras so that the pieces of shits that do this could be found.

He was too embarrassed, which sadly is a very common reaction. He only even told me when we were intoxicated one time.

Fortunately he wasn't raped.

Usually when dudes get drugged it's a mistake or it's to rob them later.

My room mate got drugged once, along with her male friend. Nothing happened to them (they were thankfully with a bunch of friends who didn't get drugged), but they felt pretty confident it was the bar tender. Few weeks later they were talking to some friends about it, a stranger overheard the conversation and shared a very similar story about the same venue except that he was robbed at the end of the night.

DenverGAF, if you drink at the Gothic Theater, be cautious! This happened about 5 years ago so hopefully whomever was doing is gone now.

Which implies there are date rapists in the industry...

Terrifying.

You'd think "hi, I'm a high profile game developer/executive" would be a good ice breaker. Truly cowardly to have so much repressed hate for yourself that conversation is skipped and you go straight to an extreme such as Date Rape. I'm fairly certain the backlash to GG only accentuated these inclinations, too.

"Exposing GG" did a lot of good for the industry, but the rats are still there.

Man, I'm glad that this didn't lead into an even worse situation. What is wrong with people?

Slightly off-topic, but the Ace Attorney fan in me is in love with his name.

Reminds me of this: http://www.neogaf.com/forum/showthread.php?t=882563

I haven't followed it's development since but a special nail polish that detects a number of drugs and changes color accordingly sounds like a more feasible option for bar/club goers than those establishments buying stocks of specialized drinkware, but of course in a better world there shouldn't be a need for stuff like this.

Question: how is the security at E3? Like... How do they search people before entering?

Is it like any other event, say comic con? Where they only pass the metal detector and that's it?

I doubt it's an extremely thorough search, if there is one. Also, there's probably a good chance this party wasn't at the E3 venue anyways.
