call #1: hold for thirty minutes, rep comes on, asks for phone number. somehow the number on the account doesn't match up with any of my numbers from the past year, so i verify the address and he goes to change the number. say to verify he'll need to hang up and call me back. never does.
call #2: hold for twenty minutes, i hear the transfer going through, followed by five minutes of silence.
call #3: hold for twenty minutes. another number snafu, but this time he doesn't hang up on me. explain the problem i'm having and what i've done to try to rectify it, namely re-installing the drivers from dell.com and upgrading to service pack 2. he asks me to wait and proceeds to go silent for five minutes as he researches the problem he has me reinstall drivers from dell.com. then he wants to remove service pack 2, as it "may be caused by a problem with service pack 2." i ask him how that would help if the issues existed before service pack 2, and he goes quiet again. three minutes later, he tells me there may be a problem with my motherboard and gives me the number for another department to get a quote on diagnosis and repair. but hey, that department is closed right now.
further whinging: they just replaced the motherboard (while it was under warranty) not three months ago. i'm tired of dell's shitty everything, i've had nothing but issues with their customer service and the laptop's been through two motherboards now.
