Destiny 2 |OT| Here We Go Again

Extremely skeptical after the mess that was destiny 1 at launch. Does anyone think the servers will even be available on tuesday?

Reviewers aren't in the game early either. Too hard to tell if it will just be 5 hours of missions that they have you repeat for 100 hours again.
You are remembering incorrectly.

Speaking of barricade walls, did it do more damage in the PC beta than in the console beta when walking through one? I felt it did a TON of damage on PC, don't know if that was discussed or not.

It's possible that it was one of the balance changes they made to the PC beta after the Console beta. They did say they made changes based on Console beta feedback.

I wonder if we will get the full Patch Notes tomorrow, or on the 6th.

So, same as vanilla Destiny. Source for this? Prima, I suppose?

I was guessing there would be 7 for Xbox and 8 for PS at launch, disappointed with only 5/6. The number will grow, obviously but, man, 5 is really low.

The prima leak, yeah, but I wouldn't be disappointed with the count. Due to leaks, we actually have a roundup of all the content and it's...well, it's considerable. Definitely way more than D1. I'd say how much of each but I think that counts as spoilers (though I'm not sure).

I haven't really been keeping up. I'm guessing this'll be another one of those situations where reviewers won't be able to give all-encompassing impressions before or on the release date?

yeah its really disappointing. Especially for a game thats a sequel to a game that annoyed so many people and disappointed them, you would think they would want good reviews out a week before launch. Then again, its activision. They want hype and marketing to get your dollars before the reviews hit..

Hunter class will be my main with Gunslinger and Nightstalker getting the most play-time.

I just prefer the mobility of the class especially with what I consider the truest/most reliable jumping ability (especially with the Xbox Elite Controller - sprint and jump on paddles with Bones of Eao = Sublime).

I hope the Gunslinger (my go-to for PvP) really got some love pertaining to PvE but if not the Nightstalker subclass is in my back pocket.

The other classes will get some love too but considering I already have purchased the game on Battle.net as well I haven't yet fully decided how I'm going to go about character creation/progression on each platform.

Will I be able to contain the hype for a month and half...🤔 really dont wanna start playing the PS4 version just to trade it in for the PC version later. Ugh, fight for the puppies, console peeps!

Reviewers had access for few days last week. Reason why we got leaks from Poland.

Before that a lot of press was 2-3 days at Bungie and got full hands on game. Impression videos that followed were oozing with positive impressions and info.

Reviews that come out before experiencing all the content the game has to offer, including the raid which is unlocked next week will basically be worthless.

Nothing stopping you from waiting a week or two to get a better idea of the game being for you or not though.

I mean you’re really missing out on half of what makes the destiny experience if you’re playing on private servers without your buddies or the community. It makes sense
To give a full review once the raid is out and the game has some time in the real world. I’m not sure why this concept is so hard to grasp without the tinfoil hat theories.

Today, I met my fiance for the last time. I said to her, my love, you know. D2 is coming. I hope you will have a good week. See you next week.
She loves me so much

I would say it does count as spoilers. I didn't know how many strikes there were until just now. :( Also, not that it's necessarily the case with strikes, but raw numbers may give the wrong impression in some cases. A lot about the design ethos has changed.

I will start off as a Hunter, just as I did in Destiny 1. I cannot stand the Warlock jump and I don't play Titan that much. I just hope that I can reduce the cooldowns significantly on the shadestep mechanics. It's really annoying how long it was in the beta. I also hope they had a 6v6 mode sometime in the near future.

well i mean most sites like ign/gamespot/polygon/giant bomb have multiple editors that could get together for co op. I'm not sure what's preventing reviewers from experiencing this early.

And the raid doesn't come out at launch anyway so why would that matter to reviews?

How imperative is it to have a mic for raids and what-not? I don't have a PS4 mic, so I didn't know if you D1 vets used discord or anything while playing? Still torn between whether or not I wanna double-dip.

For everyone who is unaware there is a spoiler thread. Please try to be considerate to others and refrain from posting information about the prima guide and various leaks in the OT. I’ve alreasy seen something major in here that bungie has intentionally been keeping a secret so I just wanted to put this out there in case no one else does.

The Way of the Sharpshooter looks outstanding for PvE, especially strike bosses.

I find that question to answer itself very concisely.

I'll be honest. My instinct is that the game would be a waste of time and money for you.

I am beyond hype especially after hanging around Bungie's area at PAX this weekend. Let's do this Guardians . . . FTP For the Puppies!

That was a great way of putting it haha, I didn't want to call attention to it specifically but yeah. Will be awesome for anyone who has managed not to be spoiled.

What a fantastic OT. Thanks to john and lnkn for all their efforts!

I'll miss you Drizz for every second that I'm playing this game, my fallen brother.

I don't care for the review, because I more or less already know what I'm getting with D2, but reviewers really should review games as is, and then maybe change the score once all of the content is available.

Don't even think about raiding if you can't communicate with your fireteam. :p

Never played D1, bought D2 for PC as its my only platform. Just a question about PVP, does your gear matter? Like if I raid and find some sweet guns can I use them in PVP, or does everyone have the same gear to be "fair".

Well if you're trying to do the raid for the very first time it's released, it's essential.

Well there’s still that lack of community aspect I spoke about not to mention the lack of the guided games feature working, experiencing a weekly reset, and the other tertiary aspects that make the game feel more alive. I mean destiny is a constantly evolving game and there were several outlets last time around that released their reviews as in-progress as the first month and all the features for the game were rolled out. I think in a “living” game like this that method makes the most sense.

I'm planning on holding out for the PC version (and with senior year classes going on I shouldn't be no-lifing a game anways), but just wanted to pop in and say that the OT looks great, and I can't wait to run with DGaf again!

Its not mandatory to have a mic but it will probably lead to a better experience for you and your teammates! A lot of gaffers have completed countless raids with no mic though so if you don't feel comfortable with a mic or can't buy one this shouldn't be that much of a deterrent for you. You will need a group of teammates that are open to this idea though. And for your discord question, psn raids and grouping up etc we just talk through party chat because of how convenient it is, but for PC peeps they will most likely use discord voice chat since its so much better than the voip the PC version has.

I legit can't explain why I'm this hyped

I was totally burned out on D1 and I've seen little to convince me of some sea change in D2

However

I'M HYPED AS F*** for this

Is it....nostalgia for a 3 year old game? Is it just that good to be back with these mechanics? I truly don't understand
