Destiny 2 |OT2| Leviathan Wakes (Spoiler Tag ALL Raid Discussion)

Now we need 1 more. I'll send invite.

Anyone who has finished Nightfall have any tips? The regular baddies are nuts (and numerous).

Look high, low and behind for anamolies.

Coordinate and focus fire on shielded Knights, their healing is annoying.

As a Warlock, healing rift and devour will help with the health regen mechanic.

Good luck!

It really is amazing how many public events you can do in a row for the Flashpoint without seeing a single goddamn person.

Yup. I don't care to do them when I don't see people. Just not as fun... Always think the flashpoint would bring more as well. Guess they do it very early?

Neat. 304 light. Took just a few hours to do everything from the reset this week except raid, which I refuse to ever do again now that I have completed Calus 2 weeks ago. Total waste of time to do the raid in this game. 0 rewards IMO compared to just doing weekly miles and then ignoring the game for 6 days straight.

Once I get a 300 base drop gloves I will hit 305, and be done with the game until expansion/meaty content.

I know that Kotaku article thinks it's cool you don't have to play D2 for hours on end, but well there's no reason to play it at all once you are 280-290 light, or have completed the raid once. There's nothing here, and I feel it is more content starved than D1 at launch for end game.

They steered the ship so far into helping casuals get accomplished feelings quickly that there is no long term thing to try to achieve or earn or obtain. I thought of D1 at launch as a FPS Phantasy Star Online. I LOVED grinding like a mad man back in the day on PSO to get a Black King Bar, and in D1 to finally get a Vex Mytho from the first raid.

There's little to no rewarding players with D2 who come from my kind of gaming background. :/

Sometimes if you fast travel back to the location (for areas with a fast travel point), you'll get put into an instance with other people. I try to find people with that method or I just move on.

Honestly though, I've got 6 days in the game. I'd say they blew me away for $60. I'll give them some time to review all the play data and fill the gaps.

Yeeeeeeeeeep. I think it was a Polygon article, FYI, but still. It's kinda sad for everyone who is a passionate, loyal destiny player. Datto's critique hit it on the head. I had a great time while it lasted but still, like not even 50 hours put into this game and I'm almost out of stuff to do.

Oh I have plenty of hours too, but there is no carrot on a stick this time. A game like this needs that.

My hope is they took serious thought from feedback from guys like myself, and reintroduce some kind of legendary gear with more randomized stats so we can aim for "perfect rolls" again. Or introduce more cryptic exotics to obtain with harder puzzles like Rat King that take a long while to obtain for a pay off. Or that this random generated forest is a fun experience we can all keep coming back to, and have a reason to go to it again and again thanks to loot.

I also hope the next raid has bosses, and a reason to do it over and over. There's like no reason to team up with buddies in this game after the first day of reset, and me personally I exclude myself from raid activities as a whole.

@gattsu mind linking that article ? or video of Datto's thoughts?

This weekend's trials map for Countdown was good. The layout of the map gives some nice engagement options but visualy the map is awful for finding enemies, so much gold and foliage shit some times i was staring someone in the face without realizing it was an enemy. Seems like next trials weekend is gonna be survival unfortunately, ugh.

Anyway, picture time!

SoullessShoes's first flawless:

And then it was a coincidence that ch4x_ which was shoes' friend that he usually ran trials with was around after asking me to do trials so they ended up meeting each other with me! And ch4x got his first flawless

I missed this earlier - thanks again igor! :D

I didn't think they could possibly take steps backwards in regards to finding interesting ways to keep old/current content somewhat fresh concerning replayability but they did just that.

The loot pool is an absolute joke. Seriously folks, go preview what Zavala has as that's what you're playing the Nightfall for weekly regarding rewards outside of the chance at an Exotic.

This game has taken huge steps backwards overall since the end of Destiny Year 3 and the beginning of Destiny 2 and that has nothing to do with the amount of content.

It really is amazing how many public events you can do in a row for the Flashpoint without seeing a single goddamn person.

I was thinking that earlier today. Despite the larger areas and the public events being visible to everyone, I did two with groups and then three in a row solo in the EDZ. I don't think I've ever seen more than 4 other players in an area. Feels like D2 doesn't group players together in public spaces as effectively as D1.

I'm curious, how is this a step backward, putting aside the loot pool between a vanilla game and a 3 year one? Are we talking about Quests and random perks?

I also think D2 is a step backward for Destiny players, but maybe not for the same reasons as you.

This is likely a side effect of everyone being able to instantly jump. Destiny doesn't like to put up a "please wait" screen, so if it can't find a compatible set of people to get to a public event, it'll just put you in your own instance to get you there faster (and if you're coming in from the rest of the patrol area, it prefers to put you in your own instance than wait)

Not sure how to solve this, maybe an event one minute away from starting can be queued into from the director.

Of course, another way around this is to make the "networking wait tunnels" longer between areas, but then it breaks the illusion of a connected world and everyone complains about the loading tunnels that are there for networking purposes.

Raid was especially buggy tonight. People getting
randomly pulled through barriers in the shadow realm
and
Calus not dying during DPS phase sucking the soul to finish out of my entire team
Bungie plz

Feels bad, thought I'd be able to hit 300 after last weeks milestone engrams or whatever.

3 fucking shotguns and exotic boots, don't remember what other garbage I got. Went from 295 to 297 I think.

May be a silly question, but how do you get your Kinetic Weapons to 305 if the max level is 300 and you can not add a mod to the kinetic weapons?

If you disassemble legendary mods, you can buy a random weapon mod from the gunsmith for 2 mod components that has a 25% chance of being kinetic.

You can add a mod to the kinetic weapons. You have to decrypt legendary mods and then create weapon mods at the gunsmith. Keep doing this and you’ll eventually get kinetic mods. Use them wisely; they’re not cheap.

If you disassemble legendary mods, you can buy a random weapon mod from the gunsmith for 2 mod components that has a 25% chance of being kinetic.

25%?! You sure about that or am I just really unlucky?

You can add a +5 Kinetic Attack Mod to get it to 305 PL. The only way to get this mod is to get lucky with reputation gains through the Gunsmith, trying your luck with creating a weapon mod (also RNG-based), or going the random blue rolled mod which can also drop these.

Someone thought it was a good idea to put the Kinetic Attack Mod up against three different Elemental Mods thus decreasing your chances of getting one to drop.

Mods are the last thing that should be RNG-based yet they are. You should simply be able to craft what you want to if you have the required mats or buy what you want if you have the required currency (Legendary Shards, hint, hint). It's the Gunsmith after all, there shouldn't be any "getting lucky" involved concerning buying/adding armor/weapon mods to existing gear.

Well, 25% to the extent that it has to either be void, arc, solar or kinetic, but I can't say with any degree of certainty that the game doesn't know you want that kinetic mod, and is actively taking steps to prevent it.

Edit: Just got one Kinetic mod after 6 attempts!

That's a quick and mostly painless one. I've gotten them on the first try and also on the 20th try.

Nice. There's really nothing else to spend glimmer on so whenever I start to get full, I go buy rare mods and play the gunsmith lottery.

If you start applying shaders to a lot of gear/sparrows/ships and applying mods you'll be in need of Glimmer constantly.

I see anomalies are a part of NF again. Is it as annoying as the Exodus crash?

No, I think because of the smaller space and darker area, you can see them better and they are not super hidden. Some are pretty hidden still, but i missed them the first time around and still had no problem finishing the nightfall.

lol guess i spoke to soon. I have only run it once though.

The ogre battles seemed ridiculous on my first run. We didn't make it past the 3 ogre room

edit: need one more for nightfall. anyone?

I ran the Nightfall using Merciless, so I'm just taking a guess, but the ogre might be pretty easily to deal with, if you bring a sniper rifle. I think it's going to depend on the crit modifier and how many shots it take to drop one of the ogres.

Naw, it's not too bad. Some anomalies were locked behind barriers we didn't know how to open and we still did it, no problem.

I am not a fan of Momentum, though.

Additionally, https://vendorengrams.xyz/ is an insane website. I've gotten over twenty items that are at item level 300 in a few minutes, some with the legendary mod to make them 305. I have now infused everything I've ever wanted.

Ogre goes down like a chump with raid rocket, high impact snipers, and void walker supers.

Any of those or combination of will wreck them.
