Destiny 2: Renegades Reveal + Ash & Iron Developer Livestream

Wow

Everything's getting crossovers these days eh? Are we really that bereft of any original IP that can stand on its own?
You think Destiny (or Fornite for that matter) don't stand on their own? These crossovers are attempts to bring in people from other franchises who might not have given the game a go. I thought that was obvious.

Plenty of original content for Destiny is out there.

I dunno man. Just seems like everything these days reaches a point where designers/developers don't know what to do next and every time they reach to pull in Star Wars/Marvel/etc

Also I think Star Trek would've been a better fit in the Destiny universe (but we all know that's not as popular…).

Maybe I'm just old and bitter and sad to see everything become cheap derivatives of the same 6 IPs

Nice to see that instead of limiting the Star Wars collab to include a few popular characters, weapons, locations or vehicles from the IP, they also made their own Star Wars inspired Destiny like characters, subfactions, weapons, vehicles, locations, features or mission types. Doing so makes it feel better integrated and different than the Star Wars collabs in other games. It's also nice to see they're also including a few ideas from Helldivers 2.

thanks for timestamping the video at the end of the video..

edit: oh it's live nvm
I just found that livestreams doesn't allow you to share with a timestamp while they are live.

Dudes are still trying to keep destiny 2 afloat lol

Destiny 2 is one ot the top 10 top grossing games on Steam and Epic Games Store every year, which is a big deal specially for being that old.

Adding licensed stuff from cool top brands that fit help games get additional big chunks of new and returning players plus to make adidtional money.

Renegades actually looks pretty good if your still into Destiny (im not).

Thought it was going to be just a bunch of skins but I really like the designs and nods to SW everywhere.

Saying a lot of good things with Renegades. The story in edge of fate was great but the campaign was trash. No stupid morphball movement mechanics already guarantees the Renegades campaign will shit on EoF.

What..the fuck.
That was way more than what I expected from Renegades. They made StarWars canon in Destiny Universe. We have got 3 reskins of existing factions and probably will behave differently. Bungie loves to re-use assets so these are permanent additions. I am actually impressed.

I am still not gonna play Destiny. None of my friends are playing and I don't want that solo cancer grind back on my back. Good riddance, waste of 3000 hours.

As someone who a long time ago used to live and breathe Destiny, seeing it resort to this kind of thing now is just pitiful. Bungie jumped the shark years ago.

Don't mean to throw shade, but I legit feel sorry for anyone still stuck in that shitty loop. When it had hooks in me I hardly had time to play anything else, and that sucked.

I get what you are saying, I played nothing else for a good few years but I had a great time doing so. I don't play anymore but no regrets here.

This would have been a great mash up years ago before Destiny and Star Wars were both run into the ground. It would be like Halo and Game of Thrones having a collaboration.

Played destiny 2 on my Xbox years ago before getting a new GPU because my old was fried, and haven't played since.

Saw it's up for cheap on humble bundle. How's the game today?

Been thinking about buying it, however, the game being a sequel makes me fear that we will eventually get destiny 3, and I hate sequels in gaas games, so been thinking on either this or restart Warframe.

Have you tried measuring player counts or community sentiment?
I pulled around 150k ccu on a good day out of ass earlier but not too far off i don't think.

If by community sentiment you mean reddit then every single gaming community known to man is pissed.

Not too shabby if you ask me.
Most games would kill for a constant 100k daily high.

Renegades turned out to be way more than I expected, but my expectations were already very low going into the livestream. I'm pleasantly surprised. I like that its theme inspired, not a copy paste of Star Wars and just cosmetics. It's obvious they're trying to rope players in. The new activities look great, potentially some degree of randomization.

Complete bullshit, there's always negativity but even Reddit had a lot of positivity for the good expansions and seasons. Hell there's even positivity for the Renegades reveal, but there's not getting around the fact that they shit the bed with today's release.

Most live service games would not be happy losing 80% of their players
