Titanfall, in terms of pure gameplay, is amazing and I give the devs tons of credit.
The problem I have with the game is repetition in the form of NO SINGLEPLAYER!
Destiny is worse from a purely-PvP standpoint IMHO, but much much MUCH better overall than Titanfall EVER will be
So just played the beta for a few hours. I'm back on board now. The Alpha kind of put me off, the Beta brought me back.
I disagree.. the ADS, the sprinting, and the lack of intelligent AI, it doesn't feel much like Halo to me
That's all ive gotten so far. But I've only played maybe 10 games. Is there only Venus and the Moon in map rotation?
Or is it just me
Destiny isn't doing anything new or interesting in terms of multiplayer shooters. No doubt it seems fun from the small amount we have seen, but what exactly it so revolutionary about it? Powers? Kill streak super moves? Vehicles? Turrets? Game modes?
Can someone explain why there are so many complaints about ADS? I don't. Fucking. Get it.
I played for a good 2-3 hours without using ADS except for snipers and rifles. Playing this way didn't affect my gameplay at all and was actually refreshing as it felt very similar to the original Halos. Accuracy diminished with range for different types of weapons appropriately and at that point, scoped weapons required ADS, just like in Halo (think of the BR or DMR).
If ADS is such a deal-breaker for so many people, don't use it. Simple as that.
Titanfall's biggest weakness was the complete package. The "single player" was a joke and it's campaign and story are atrocious. They take away from the core experience. Destiny looks like it will have a good if not great story with a meaningful story experience.
I'll hold off judgment until the full game is released, but after playing the alpha and the beta, there is nothing in this PVP experience that would make me play it over Titanfall. It's just not different enough.
However and this is a good 'however' I do think that the structure of the game, as it is, allows it to overcome this sense of drag and even make it disappear entirely. The story missions (and the Strike, to an extent) are at their best and feel the most fresh when they offer a thoroughly different experience from the exploration mode. Any sense of drag I have disappears entirely when I'm fighting that huge Fallen guy to get the warp drive for my ship, or I see that array rise out of that structure in the distance and I'm fighting a wave of Hive with enemies you don't necessarily see while exploring. Sure, you've seen these places before, but the combat is entirely different and unique, making the place feel almost new.
And this is the way Bungie can freshen up the story missions: tweak them so there are hardly any parts that feel like you're still playing exploration mode.
As a side note, I've noticed some people complain that the story missions are too repetitive. I don't think that's necessarily fair. As it is, they might seem all the same because they're all we have, but out of the five, here's how they're structured: we have two story missions that end in a "defend this point," we have two that have you fighting to a certain point kind and killing a creature (the tall Fallen or the wizard), and then we have the tutorial. Obviously, like everyone else, I want variety in the story missions we'll get during release, but there's some variety among the ones we have to play.
Level differences between players.
This is a hard criticism. And by that, I mean I'm not sure how Bungie will escape this problem given the nature of the game they've made. I was playing with sploatee by myself for an hour or so before Everyday Math joined us. During that time, I wanted to go into the Strike mission, but I was hesitant given sploatee's level at the time, and I didn't want the experience to turn into a grind fest.
I'm worried how much I'll encounter that situation upon release. If I'm playing with some friends, and I've unlocked everything, I don't like having to exclude certain areas of the game to play simply because the other person in my party is at too low of a level.
Also, ADS needs to go, but that's a whole other discussion.
Anyone know why when I've redeemed by code from the desktop version of the Sony entertainment store on my phone it says I've redeemed it (I entered the code) but then gives me no option anywhere to download it and it's not in my download queue either?
I'm away until tomorrow so I'm trying to have it ready for when I get home
Yeah, i had to switch to assault rifle to be competitive. Its possible / likely i just suck, but i was getting wrecked using my more powerful scout rifle, but instantly started doing fine when i switch to a basic assault rifle.
The TTK is surprisingly low for this game and the assault rifle just chews through people faster then i can cap off shots with the scout rifle.
Due to how the installer works you can't install Destiny remotely, to my knowledgeAnyone know why when I've redeemed by code from the desktop version of the Sony entertainment store on my phone it says I've redeemed it (I entered the code) but then gives me no option anywhere to download it and it's not in my download queue either?

I don't play many shooters so what is ADS? Is that the aim assist when zooming?
Why not have ADS and Hip Fire? Honest question as I'm interested. I've used both and both seem viable to me.
Well that's just crap isn't it!Due to how the installer works you can't install Destiny remotely, to my knowledge

bad for remote users, good for people who don't want to have to put their trust fully in PSNWell that's just crap isn't it!
why?god the vehicle vultures are pissing me off

But how? Its like the same thing with some cut scenes and a few more MP maps.
I said "to my knowledge"That's not technically correct. You can download the game from the PSN store web site, and if you have a vita you can remote connect to the PS4 to start the "game" and have it fully install. I did this yesterday.

Could be true, but out of curiosity, was your scout rifle leveled up at all? I feel like in the beta, the AR was a good starter rifle, but once you started getting fast reloads, larger mags, and better rate of fire on the scout...it kicked ass.
Almost yeah, but it needed some tweaks.
I liked the darkness zones (don't recall them being there in the alpha, could be wrong), I like the story missions moreso than the generic "explore this area, kill x amount of enemies" missions which was the bulk of content was in the alpha.
I did comment before that the gameplay and shooting was top notch, it, that explore and beacon missions being like 90% of the Alpha put me off. Beta is giving a small taste of the story + story missions taking place in some parts that I didn't see in the Alpha. And this has convinced me that the final game will be worth it.
I won't be playing PVP (didn't enjoy it), I will be mainly doing story missions, and strikes, with a little bit of explore here and there if I need to level up, or just want a quick game fix.
I have seen weapons that grant Hip Fire accuracy bonusesThat's fine; I just want to be able to fire from the hip accurately. I wanna jump and shoot, you know? Especially because the Hunter's jump is so well suited for it.![]()

I thought it was a real cock tease to show the moon story mission 6 that you can't even access.
I customized my character but when I started the game it was just the generic guy with none of my customizations. Is this a common thing?
I think my favourite part of the Titan so far is saving that move and looking for clustered enemies. <3I can't believe they were ALL crowding the flag like it was a party. What in all heck?
