Titanfall, in terms of pure gameplay, is amazing and I give the devs tons of credit.
The problem I have with the game is repetition in the form of NO SINGLEPLAYER!
Destiny is worse from a purely-PvP standpoint IMHO, but much much MUCH better overall than Titanfall EVER will be

This was not a "lol Titanfall" reaction, more like a "lol hyperbole" reaction.

As for Titanfall PvP and Destiny PvP, i played both and i find the later more fun and interesting.

Can someone explain why there are so many complaints about ADS? I don't. Fucking. Get it.

I played for a good 2-3 hours without using ADS except for snipers and rifles. Playing this way didn't affect my gameplay at all and was actually refreshing as it felt very similar to the original Halos. Accuracy diminished with range for different types of weapons appropriately and at that point, scoped weapons required ADS, just like in Halo (think of the BR or DMR).

If ADS is such a deal-breaker for so many people, don't use it. Simple as that.

Destiny isn't doing anything new or interesting in terms of multiplayer shooters. No doubt it seems fun from the small amount we have seen, but what exactly it so revolutionary about it? Powers? Kill streak super moves? Vehicles? Turrets? Game modes?

The sum of its parts is what makes Destiny unique. It's pulling features from a bunch of different games and genres and that right there, having all those features in one game is what makes destiny so fun to the majority of the people in this thread.

The same criticism you lay towards Destiny can be used against TF. Somewhere on the Internet people are calling it a rip off of mech warrior, COD and mirrors edge. It's possible for a game to just improve on what we've seen before and integrate it into something new and incredible. Imo.

I don't get it either... personally, I would cringe my ass off it there was no ADS.

I used to like Halo style hip-fire, but I've moved on.

Titanfall's biggest weakness was the complete package. The "single player" was a joke and it's campaign and story are atrocious. They take away from the core experience. Destiny looks like it will have a good if not great story with a meaningful story experience.

I'll hold off judgment until the full game is released, but after playing the alpha and the beta, there is nothing in this PVP experience that would make me play it over Titanfall. It's just not different enough.

Titanfall had a single player mode?

However – and this is a good 'however' – I do think that the structure of the game, as it is, allows it to overcome this sense of drag and even make it disappear entirely. The story missions (and the Strike, to an extent) are at their best and feel the most fresh when they offer a thoroughly different experience from the exploration mode. Any sense of drag I have disappears entirely when I'm fighting that huge Fallen guy to get the warp drive for my ship, or I see that array rise out of that structure in the distance and I'm fighting a wave of Hive with enemies you don't necessarily see while exploring. Sure, you've seen these places before, but the combat is entirely different and unique, making the place feel almost new.

Totally agree with this. I don't want my "level grinding" to feel like level grinding if that makes sense?

And this is the way Bungie can freshen up the story missions: tweak them so there are hardly any parts that feel like you're still playing exploration mode.

As a side note, I've noticed some people complain that the story missions are too repetitive. I don't think that's necessarily fair. As it is, they might seem all the same because they're all we have, but out of the five, here's how they're structured: we have two story missions that end in a "defend this point," we have two that have you fighting to a certain point kind and killing a creature (the tall Fallen or the wizard), and then we have the tutorial. Obviously, like everyone else, I want variety in the story missions we'll get during release, but there's some variety among the ones we have to play.

Level differences between players.

This is a hard criticism. And by that, I mean I'm not sure how Bungie will escape this problem given the nature of the game they've made. I was playing with sploatee by myself for an hour or so before Everyday Math joined us. During that time, I wanted to go into the Strike mission, but I was hesitant given sploatee's level at the time, and I didn't want the experience to turn into a grind fest.

I'm worried how much I'll encounter that situation upon release. If I'm playing with some friends, and I've unlocked everything, I don't like having to exclude certain areas of the game to play simply because the other person in my party is at too low of a level.

Also, ADS needs to go, but that's a whole other discussion.

Why not have ADS and Hip Fire? Honest question as I'm interested. I've used both and both seem viable to me.

Anyone know why when I've redeemed by code from the desktop version of the Sony entertainment store on my phone it says I've redeemed it (I entered the code) but then gives me no option anywhere to download it and it's not in my download queue either?

I'm away until tomorrow so I'm trying to have it ready for when I get home

i really dislike the ds4 for long play sessions can't wait to try destiny out with my preferred controller also fuck the moon nobody needs it and it keeps coming up in pvp ive only played venus twice every other one of my games has been on the moon

DietRob

i've been begging for over 5 years.
I'm having some issues downloading the beta on PS4.

Hoping someone can help!

I got my 3 codes via email and entered the code in through the PSN website last night. Later I went down to my PS4 to try and download it. The destiny beta shows up in my "Library" but when I click on it there isn't an option to download and it hasn't started automatically. When I highlight it and press 'options' button nothing happens.

Anyone know what the issue is and how to resolve it?

Ah, I see we have the same issue. That makes me feel slightly better. Hopefully someone can help.

Yeah, i had to switch to assault rifle to be competitive. Its possible / likely i just suck, but i was getting wrecked using my more powerful scout rifle, but instantly started doing fine when i switch to a basic assault rifle.

The TTK is surprisingly low for this game and the assault rifle just chews through people faster then i can cap off shots with the scout rifle.

Could be true, but out of curiosity, was your scout rifle leveled up at all? I feel like in the beta, the AR was a good starter rifle, but once you started getting fast reloads, larger mags, and better rate of fire on the scout...it kicked ass.

Due to how the installer works you can't install Destiny remotely, to my knowledge

Look for me on the local news, I'll be the guy arrested for trying to burn down a Nintendo exec's house.
Can't seem to log in to PSN through the game :/ Anyone else having trouble? I was on fine last night.

I customized my character but when I started the game it was just the generic guy with none of my customizations. Is this a common thing?

The sub-HD resolution of the old gen version is terrible. It is just about as blurry as i see things without my glasses.
Not that they could do much about it and keep the nice graphics... but this is the first time when low resolution really bothers me.

This game feels... kind of meh so far. If it had splitscreen mode, it would be considerably better (playing over internet doesn't feel nearly as fun as playing local mode, even if you play with the same friend(s)).
Random people the matchmaker gives.. ugh, Don't care to what is essentially solo-content with randoms. They steal my stuff (figuratively) and kills.

It looks and sounds nice... but those are not selling points.

EDIT so far the game lacks the charm Halo has (for me), even Reach had some of that. The game is really nice looking and i'd love to explore the places... if they were in another game.

EDIT oh and the shotgun sucks.

That's not technically correct. You can download the game from the PSN store web site, and if you have a vita you can remote connect to the PS4 to start the "game" and have it fully install. I did this yesterday.

But how? Its like the same thing with some cut scenes and a few more MP maps.

Almost yeah, but it needed some tweaks.

I liked the darkness zones (don't recall them being there in the alpha, could be wrong), I like the story missions moreso than the generic "explore this area, kill x amount of enemies" missions which was the bulk of content in the alpha.

I did comment before that the gameplay and shooting was top notch, it was that explore stuff and beacon missions being like 90% of the Alpha put me off. Beta is giving a small taste of the story + story missions taking place in some parts that I didn't see in the Alpha (with a new high level enemy that wasn't in the alpha). And this has convinced me that the final game will be worth it.

I won't be playing PVP (didn't enjoy it), I will be mainly doing story missions, and strikes, with a little bit of explore here and there if I need to level up (or just want a quick game fix).

That's fine; I just want to be able to fire from the hip accurately. I wanna jump and shoot, you know? Especially because the Hunter's jump is so well suited for it. :(

I've got a fully leveled up scout (using alternate sights, extra damage on last bullet in clip and bonus damage). Unless I see someone with an AR first I'm dead by the time I get two shots off. Obviously if I catch them at a much longer distance it's different.

Or Warlock's Glide. Why can't i shoot accurately while gliding?
It is useful for traveling but that's it, in combat i stick to ground, which is rather boring.

It is good to see what the structure of the main story missions is like. Are there going to be destructible "single use" vehicles like in MP, or just upgrades over the Sparrow that you can summon?

It will be interesting to see in the final game if you can play story missions somewhat contiguously, or if you always have to go back into orbit and launch from the map.

Question!

I pre-ordered the game digitally on PSN during the Alpha. Now that the Guardian Edition is available I want to upgrade to that instead. PSN won't let me upgrade to the Guardian Edition because "You already own Destiny".

:/

Any way around this? I can't find out where to cancel my pre-order.

You customized your face and hair. Then you started the game and put on a helmet covering up your face and hair.

You take your helmet off once you go to The Tower and you'll see yourself again. I think we all pretty much start off with the same beginner armor.

They really need to do something about the vehicles on that moon map. Having them all at the beginning seems silly to me especially when everyone can already use their sparrows anyway for transport.

This was comparing a "green" item level scout rifle with with fast reload and 33 point damage vs my starter auto-rifle with no perks and 23 damage.

I'm sure my suckage was a factor, but I'm still surprised how quickly i can be killed in the game. One of the hallmarks of Halo was the longer TTK due to the shields, and this game is definitely not Halo in that respect.
