I hate the static sound they added before and after the Ghost says a line, but other than the the VO seems better with the muffled computer effect.

I assume everyone dismantles their old replaced gear? Haven't seen another use for it but maybe that'll change with the full game?

I don't think there is another use for old gear that are merely weaker versions. But a lot of gear have specific strengths that you may want to use strategically in the full game, like discipline, intellect or bonus when used with specific weapons.

That angle isn't any more flattering, because then it's a "straight up shooter" with super boring boss fights.

There is where we will disagree. I don't find the boss encounters or regular enemy encounters particularly boring at all actually. The shooting is very engaging. What MMO do you play currently with FPS gameplay this good?

Aw, still capped at 8? That's unfortunate.

A few questions...

Is there going to be a character wipe post-beta? And now that I'm 8, is there any particular place I can go to try and get better equipment, or should I be satisfied with a suit of greens?

This isn't actually the case.

I started the download from work via the Sony web store yesterday, and when I got home the entire game was installed. I booted it up and jumped right in without needing to do anything else. No in-game installs whatsoever.
Some people had license issues, and if they did, those issues prevented the mini-client from doing its thing on its own

Ok so far this are my concerns with the game :

- I feel the game content quite limited and gonna get repetitive very soon. I know its a beta but so far I've been doing 8 whole levels using the same goddamn map and enemies.

- The group boss fights, are the most ridiculous and boring boss fights I've ever done. I got so bored from shooting and reloading that after finishing the encounter I didn't touch the game since yesterday.

- It's unacceptable that all the hardwork you do on gears are weapons is disregarded once you step foot on PvP battles, as everything is normalized regardless of your gear.

this game has serious potential but some gameplay elements are holding it back. also the story/plot is very confusing, no idea wtf is going on. the darkness, the fallen etc. is just a complete mind fuck

Regarding the story, I'm sure Bungie don't want to show all their cards yet... it will hopefully all unveil as it should once the game is whole.

I wouldn't count on it, Bungie is pretty terrible at story telling, overly convoluted, and nerdily pretentious. They need to keep their stories simpler, and more personal to be succesful. I feel Halo 1 was there only decent, un-cringewothy story. And also ODST. With no real main character and in a coop MMO setting, it is even going to be more difficult to make a good story. i am just hoping for good believable game scenarios, and clear understanding of lore and conflicts.

Green is highest for 8s apparently
There might/might not be a post-beta wipe

Ouch, that sucks.

But I've also seen plenty of games that only partially install and then do the rest in-game, and as I said in my last post that's a really shitty system because then you can't even play another game while it downloads.

Seeing the words "hard work" applied to gaming always makes me wince but are you saying you want PVP to be completely unbalanced by allowing every level and gear advantage into those matches? Whats the point of that?

So what else to do after hitting level 8, a bit of pvp, and ran the level 6 instance group (can't remember what it's called) a couple times?

Also, that tank in the 3 man instance is dumb and needs to be retuned. It's not a fun encounter and it's quite boring actually. Sitting in one spot and ducking one shot missiles and then unloading, repeat process is stupid. First time I did that I was level 6 with 2 other level 6's and it took us a good 15-20min of just unloading into the tank. No skill, no nothing to beat it. Also it doesn't even drop a piece of loot. Same goes for any of the bosses in that instance.

if you're talking about the spider. shoot it's legs, makes more damage and will expose it's core, when it does, shoot the core and it should die pretty quickly

Edit: Not entirely
The weapon upgrades transfer to PvP, and that can give someone a big edge.

DAMNIT... I went Warlock during Alpha and now trying Titan during Beta. I miss my cape mang =(

I thought PVP stripped any advantages that armor and or weapons gave players in PVE? If weapons effect PVP that kind creates an imbalance does it not?

I agree except for the last point. PVP should be even footing I believe. Or perhaps have a queue that uses your own gear and one that is normalized.

So, what's everyone's favorite class? Judging by the poll, a lot of people are liking the Warlock (my personal favorite), but I've found the Hunter to be pretty fun to play as as well. I also like shanking fools with the knife.

Anyone have any hints on who are voicing the player characters? Is it one voice per gender or is it multiple voices for each race-gender combo?

Void hunter sounds so cool but it will have to play a support role therefore toning it down. Maybe the ability to switch places with enemies and friendlies.

but that will destroy all balance in pvp. and not everything is normalised apparently, stuff like faster reload is still there in pvp. i think bungie should remove this also and completely normalise everything in relation to gear earned in pve except weapon loadout

I like hunter. Knife melee, throwing knife and the golden gun are all fun.

Warlock is pretty cool too, but it seems like a class my main gaming buddy will like more since he likes Adepts in ME, Siren's in Borderlands etc.

Titan I thought was the least interesting one.

Attack Damage is the only thing that is normalized. Everything else that you level up carries over.

Most of the upgrades are not PvP-breaking

Found a boss named Celebrant of Oryx. ??? Enemy I couldn't even begin to punch through the armor. He had Knights nearby too so couldn't get close for a shot. Think I will head there again to try for a selfie

Not that I don't believe you, but can you point me toward a post where that happened? I did see people messing with licenses, but those were people sitting in front of their PS4s (obviously since you can't jump start licenses remotely) not giving the installer a chance, so we'll never know if it would have still downloaded something without intervention.

So you mean you want hip fire to be as accurate as ADS currently is? I think I agree that would be nice for sure. I guess I've since gotten used to the CoD style of play, but I still hipfire on and off to mix things up.
Essentially, though to a point. Obviously I don't want to be hip-firing enemies from hundreds of meters away without some support (like zoom).

Every time I see somebody say this it always ends up that the person doesn't know how to tackle the boss fights effectively, or their team isn't working well together.

I ran across that too while playing on Hard. Instant death at level 3.

A friend just gave me a code, but I'm almost at my bandwidth limit, might have to buy a 20Gb block.

How big is it?

Wait your ISP sells blocks in Gigabit chunks not GigaByte? That's so slimy, how many folks know to divide Gigabit chunks by 8 to get work out many GigaBytes they're getting!

Was the intro stuff in the alpha as well? Can't remember it. I'm personally not a fan of having a games opening the beta, that's a pretty large part of the game and you have to repeat it once you get the full thing.

I've played Hunter in the Alpha and Warlock in the beta, I don't have a real preference yet. Hunters have great maneuverability which I miss, especially that Double Jump, but Nova Bomb > Golden Gun all day.

Going to try out Titan later today which I'm expecting to like. High armor and melee abilities sound nice to me.

To be fair shit will get more interesting later with sub classes. Like a buffer helping teammates out then taking care of the mobs, other two attacking and flanking main baddy, etc....

Right now the main tactics are to distract and build up super, killing baddies in meantime

It happened to me and also people who did/tried to do the EU preload trick

If that's the case why would there be quarter masters for PVP gear? Or unless you just used the gear to PVE.

And unbalanced the game???

Are you insane, if they let you have high level equipment in the PvP, the newcomers wouldn't have a chance playing the game.
