Destiny on PC is a game changer

I want to play this game on console, but the 30 fps in the console beta was super choppy (same as destiny 1). They don't have the motion blur dialed in like Uncharted does, which looks smooth in comparison.
Kinda afraid to play the pc open beta because my friends are on console.

what? no... D1 is one of the smoothest 30fps games out there. It's one thing I absolutely loved about the game, I could jump between that and a 60fps shooter like COD or Titanfall and have no issues. That's not always the case when moving from 60fps to 30fps, but Bungie made Destiny smooth as hell.

Three days, until 10am PT on the 31st, though it may be extended.

Hmm. I have Friday off, so I won't be taking part unless they extend it until then. Have a copy I got for free with my 1080ti purchase a few months ago. Glad that everyone seems to be enjoying it.

I am super impressed how much better It looks and feels over the console beta. I remember it feeling quite a bit slower than Destiny 1 but holy crap the PC version feels silky smooth (granted I am doing a really high fps).

This. People read too much into the post or dont know that destiny is on pc for the first time or just shit posts in general.

It really depends on if OP is talking about "game (destiny) changing" or "game (videogaming in general) changing". It's been my experience that most people assume the latter whenever this term is used, so it's a normal reaction to cock your head to the side and scrunch up your nose when you read OP's post.

I don't think people are shit posting, it's just that people are discussing this without talking about the same thing.

I certainly read it as 'Destiny 2 opened my eyes to the benefits of PC gaming'. Whether or not thats contentious I don't know

Out of all the games I've played on PC I've always used this stationary Logitech trackball mouse. But after getting bodied on PVP unlike any other shooting game I've played I think it faced its match.. 😢 Anyone have any mouse recommendations ?

After years of people saying Destiny felt so good to play, and years of almost every action game being 60fps, even on consoles; Destiny 2 really feels like ass on consoles. Can't imagine sinking that much time into it with how it feels and the FOV.

The beta has me excited for destiny 2

I played the Ps4 beta and was let down, felt like Destinty 1 and even tho I was day one for it I had zero excitement.

I now cancelled the Ps4 version for PC and can't wait !

G Pro or G403 depending on your size/shape preference. Both have top tier sensors and low weight. G Pro has cheaper variants with a sensor that's almost as good (G102/G203 depending on region) and G403 also has wireless options (G403 wireless and G703). The wireless is flawless, the only cons are price premium and extra weight.

Lol are you implying PC won't have a community after three weeks? Because that wouldn't be a smart thing to imply...

Also some won't notice 60 FPS and a higher FOV? Who?

To be fair, the PC can be rather hit or miss when it comes to what thrives and what doesn't on the platform. A game like the original Titanfall died rather quickly to the point where I was finding at most 500 players a year after launch. Titanfall 2 is better, but not by much. I have the game through EA Access on PC and have a hard time finding anything beyond Attrition. The same sort of thing happens with most of the newer Call of Duty titles where you are lucky to get in a match that isn't Team Deathmatch. I also find fighting games particularly brutal on PC due to a lack of a community for those titles (crossplay titles exempted).

With that said, for every Titanfall or Call of Duty there is an Overwatch or PUBG. I find that once PC gamers find something they like, they stick to it like glue (e.g. CSGO). Where Destiny 2 falls into place on PC is anyone's guess. However, I can't blame anyone for being at least a little cautious especially considering a big part of Destiny is the P2P player interaction. Hoping it does well on PC.

should I be able to preload the beta atm? I can only see the pre-purchase button.

Only if you've pre-ordered. Open beta participants won't be able to download the game until it unlocks in a little under two hours.

Even the smoothest 30 is only 50% of 60fps gaming heaven no matter how you butter it.

Not trying to butter anything, I'm loving the beta on pc and the better framerate/performance... but to say D1's performance was "choppy" is a bit ridiculous. It's a very smooth 30fps game.

this game is not a single player, and the most important is the community, i give it a month or so until is full of russians hackers, mods, glitches or whatever... that will ruin the online experience.

look at the division.

I don't mean to pile on you but this is something everyone should know, (Or at least I thought everyone knew) the Division has a BUNCH of client-side processing which is a HUGE no-no when it comes to MMO's and MP games and I have no idea how Ubi didn't catch that.

Destiny 2 has no such thing.

Yeah, and it looks like Bungie is taking a pretty hard line when it comes to other apps running at the same time.

Personally, I don't care about the PvP in this game, so I don't really care even if there are hackers, but it seems like Bungie is pretty serious about preserving the integrity of the game.

Well I looked at this OT and rolled my eyes. I played the Destiny 2 beta on console and didn't see much improvement from the original but still I tried it on PC to see if it was really that much better.

So long and short of it... It plays much much better on PC, shooting feels better, the game runs better, better options, ect. PC is by far going to be the best way to play Destiny 2. I'm not sold on it by any means, I'll wait and see after what happened with the first game and its lack of meaningful content but yeah if Destiny is your thing and you've got a halfway decent PC it is certainly the way to play.

Honestly I'd think about purchasing it if it was going to go the overwatch route and having free updates but since its not its still a wait and see for me. I had fun though which is something I didn't have on the console version, its really surprisingly how much better it plays on PC, I'm impressed.

It will most likely end up being

PS4 > PC > Xbox IMO (all 3 will have a solid player base). PS4 will most likely always have the highest player base cause exclusives, then pc second because it actually feels like a completely different game and almost every streamer will be playing it on PC on oct 24th, and then xbox.. but thats just my opinion

PC feels the best by far and I can't see myself ever playing it on console again.

It scares me how good this PC version is (as a PS4 Pro devotee).

I'll be maining on both, RIP life: dual no-lifing confirmed for 2017/2018 lol.

There's bad 30 fps (bloodborne) and there's good 30 fps (destiny).

Destiny is smooth for a game running at 30 fps.

Very much this: 30fps has never felt better than in the Destiny 2 beta; so I'm happy maining on PS4 as well: shouldn't be too much of an inertia hit swapping between (I'm used to it being a 1/2 console / 1/2 PC gamer in general).

57 FPS on windowed FS on whatever settings it defaults to

I7 3770k
GTX 1060 6GB

**

NVM vsync was on

**

Never goes below 60 but its jarring going from 177 to 115 to 145 to 77

7700k 1080ti here over 60fps on 4k shadows high msaa off. u should not have to sacrifice much.

its not really a taxing game.

yeah I'm good, I was benchmarking against the very opening with all the fire and particles and shit, been a solid 60+ after that part pretty much
