I just made it to Member status yesterday and I don't have 500 posts. I think it's 300 posts and three months.
If you didn't order digitally through the PSN store, pre-loading is not an option as you need the code from the retailer to download and you won't get that until the 9th.

Is that so? Well... I claim the title of the first person in the Central Timezone to have preordered Destiny. I feel I can safely say I'm hyped.
Used to be either or. Either the 300 posts OR 3 months. I know that much for sure. My account was in some weird limbo when I first signed up here years ago. My account sat around for so long that by the time I had gained access I was already a member. As far as I recall I've never been a junior.

Seriously, I was quite disappointed to learn that there were no space tigers in Destiny. Maybe for Destiny 2 though.
There was suppose to be a Tigerman race but they decided it wouldn't fit...

Can someone explain the pre-load? I was prompted to install very small files once I pre-ordered on PS4 and that was it.

Destiny icon > Options button > Information
It should tell you how much of 21GB you've downloaded.
I think that's because of the finish of the surface.
This thread took an interesting turn.
The game continues to download the remaining 20gb or so in the background. You can watch it happen if you click Options while hovered over Destiny in the dashboard and look at the "information" section.
