No after a certain point it becomes REALLY REALLY hard.

Need to get to 31 before trying again.

I know people are pissed about that, but it makes sense. Otherwise the new vanguard/crucible light 33 gear is useless because one would run and beat the raid with VoG gear, ignoring the new vanguard/crucible gear.

Glad to see some people getting good drops. Not one new item between all 3 of my characters.

I am making up for my terrible pre-expansion luck, I think. I got no primaries or boots out of VoG, but my run the past ~10 hours has been pretty dumb:

- Universal Remote (aka a free shard I guess) and helm from the first Cryptarch package after DLC hit
- PR I wanted from the first Vanguard package
- Bought the gloves and chest from Vanguard vendor
- The Crash and Hunter chest from blue engrams
- Ruin Wings from the Nightfall

Probably used up all my post-expansion luck already. Now I'll probably get Chatterwhite out of Crota's End somehow.

So is Xur in the Tower today or was that just another Bungie miscommunication?

I don't think that was a Bungie miscommunication. That was player misinterpretation.

The gang at large understood what was meant by "Starting December 9th", it was just a handful of people under the impression it meant he would be in town today.

Lol I think it tries to level the playing field a little too much with Xur selling exotics and people buying level 31 gear day 1 when some of us spent 100's of hours getting to 30.

I am just going to play the Raid and probably quit until Expansion II so I can just purchase Level 33 gear. No reason to put in another 100 hours to get 2 light levels.

i guess 0.64 is better but um, maybe I'll learn these maps in Clash XD

Raid difficulty/barrier to entry will also decrease as the community gets more comfortable running it.

I really don't understand all the complaints like "that's it for $20"?

It sure does seem to me like we get a lot more than we used to for the price of a DLC...
...used to be $10 for three MP maps. Now we get three MP maps, a raid, some story missions, one or two strikes for $20. Sounds decent.

I don't know a lot about DLC so I'm not sure what other DLC costs or whether you get a lot more content in it or not..

They pulled the rug out from under the people who have played this game so much to get to 30 and have added more grind with little content to match it.

Very sad, so disappointed with this expansion. Just stretching things out, making a 2 level jump as much as a 10 level jump with no effort and more stupid currencies and mats.

Disappointed

So I can buy it but wouldn't be able to equip it without the DLC?

Yes, they should have found a balance between appealing to the people that ran the VOG nonstop and the people that are forever29. As it stands, everything is equalized and the real winners are the ones that casually play and didn't lose too much time.

DLC reaction by a friend who quit Destiny 2 weeks ago because even with 3 warlocks he was stuck on 29 for over 2 months:

Bungie's pride got hurt coz everyone completed their precious raid so quickly. Their solution: Gimp players' damage output in the next raid against impossibly hard enemies. I mean the better solution, i.e. Making a better and more complex raid would have taken brains they sorely lack. So, amateur hour rules yo...😎

Eh it's not really that decent when most people aren't into every aspect of the game. I passively play PVP as it's just ok, it's just far too unbalanced to enjoy properly. The Raid is too much effort for my tastes, I prefer playing by myself really so I don't Raid much at all. So all I was really interested in was the 3 story missions and the strikes, the story missions were pretty short and lacklustre and the strikes are existing mission areas in reverse with a boss stuck at the end.

got raid boots and gauntlets but they need materials from the raid itself to upgrade so doesn't that mean i need to buy the vanguard gear and get up to 31 just to grind the raid so i can upgrade my raid gear?

I casually play and I'm utterly screwed at level 27. :\

No kidding. I would actually be better off had I stopped a month ago. I would have a stockpile of shards and be able to purchase level 31 gear to get a good jumpstart. Now I have some 31 gear but no shards since I pumped them all into VoG raid gear the last 2 weeks.

Yeah it's completely pointless. You'll be grinding the same content over and over anyways and everything will be pointless and you can catch up in a couple of hours. It's terrible design on their part in addition to the expansion barely having any content to begin with.

Yes, you have to grind the raid in order to grind the raid.

Just load on up the raid,
head on down to the dark below, face the light ahead and walk to the first junction in the path, turn left and head straight ahead through some doors in the dark. The chest will be behind the doors.
Did they already patch this? No chest for me :/

Got an excess of Ascendant materials? You can exchange them, though I can't remember the ratio or cost etc.

The story missions were pretty cool, but sucks that it was only 3 missions and that they were kinda short besides the last one. Did get a legendary DLC chest engram to drop and got some new boots from the vanguard so I'm finally on my way to 30!

Also that fusion rifle you get looks pretty good any thoughts on it?

No you just need to devote yourself to the same 10 hours of gameplay for 250+ hours. I'm level 29 and just got my first piece of raid gear at the 223 hour mark last night. You aren't screwed you just need to devote all your free time and a few fake sick days to the game and also create 2 alt characters and invest the same time into them.

I think I'm going to sit this out until the next expansion. I've dived in, done the first Eris mission, done some bounties and seen the new gear but If this shit is only going to last for three months I'm thinking about saving my marks for next upgrade's legendaries.
