This endgame content is such garbage.

Doing the same 5 strikes over and over again and hope you get something good so you can do the same strikes at a higher difficulty level.

I mean sure I could replay the garbage story missions at a higher level or do this stupid fetch mission shit in patrol to level up my Vanguard rank to actually be able to buy some legendary weapons but I'm limited to 100 vanguard marks a week anyway since they don't want me to rush through the few content they have.

Nothing you can actually do after you beat the missions is fun. Only option is to play some PvP.

I love this quote going around. Bungie might have oversold Destiny, a tiny little bit

We like to tell big stories and we want people to put the Destiny universe on the same shelf they put Lord of the Rings, Harry Potter or Star Wars"

http://www.gamesindustry.biz/articl...tiny-can-surpass-halo-sit-alongside-star-wars

You hear game developers saying similar things about their games all the time. It's part of the whole, "never listen to a dev talk about their own game" schpiel if you actually want to know what the game is about. It's hard to maintain perspective when you're working on something for so long!

I think it's a shame how heavily Activision invested in the franchise. This is very much so a case of too much money being thrown at the wrong things.

I can't take anyone that claims warframe co-op is better then Destiny serious.

Kill waves of enemies.
Both of you stand by door so it will open.
move on and kill more enemies
collect things

its all the same shit only Warframes controls are janky as fuck.

Objectives in Destiny: Place ghost here, or kill guy, and then place ghost here.

I fail to see how destiny is deeper in this regard.

So...as someone who didn't pick this up day one. Would it be better to wait awhile for more content? I'm not exactly a PvP person either.

Warframe is pretty much amazaballs...janky shit n all.

I think people were surprised that Bungie told us one thing and gave us something a lot less. Peter Molyneux'd is a term thrown around, and it can be applied a bit. The game is small, it is not epic, there is no way this game maintains a large player base past 6 months.

Alright Mystic Meg and you know this how ?

Fantastic enemy AI in Destiny for one thing.

Just started it, am I crazy or are there less character customisations options compared to the beta?

I have no idea what's going on but it's fun. Been playing with a friend.
I especially like the art direction, it just hits the right tones for me

Well when enemies just forget all about me when I manage to run away far enough it's pretty apparent.

I once saw an enemy Thrall run away from me as I run backwards into another room.

Playing the last moon mission on hard- what would've been a tricky fight is transformed into an exercise in tedium when I realize I can just keep backing up a flight of stairs and the 3 sword wielding knights chasing me will just forget I'm present.

What are you playing on? Twice now two different buddies have dc'd during a strike, we tried to invite back to fireteam, but he couldn't get back in. I think it thought he was still in there so both times they restarted their X1 and then got right back in.

PS4. It's happened twice in the last 3 strikes I've tried doing

Also, I really wish Bungie would of applied gravity to each unique planet. We know that your mass is 1/6 of what it is on Earth, why the hell do I jump like I'm on Earth when on the moon?

Damn, reading through this thread throughout the day makes me feel like I'm WAY behind everyone. Didn't help that I didn't get to play the game until later last night than I wanted to. I was only able to get to level 5 before I had to call it quits for the night.

Any other low level people on PS4 want to go through some story missions around 7pm Central? I believe the last mission I did was the one where you activate the Array. I'm also up for doing some PVP with anyone if there's some groups playing. PSN is MrJellyBean.

Anyone feel like this is the FFXIII of shooters? I feel like it has similar strengths and flaws to that game.

Strengths : art direction, music, basic combat engine
Weaknesses: Storytelling, Characterisation, level design, character advancement systems, lack of content

PVP is awesome, story missions are disappointing so far, probably more fun with friends.

loving PVP, can't seem to give myself the will to play through the crapfest that is SP and I am only at the moon (last mission)

I'm going to hit 14, can you just PVP to the end and run raids or is completing SP manditory?

*sigh*

Getting thrown out of a strike with no way of getting back in is justthe dumbest shit ever. How many years have "real" mmo's had the ability to to get back into a dungeon if you disconnected? I know it was possible in wow...back in 2004.

But hey that's clearly different right, Destiny isn't a real mmo anyway, so it shouldn't be held to the same standards as mmo's in anything anyway, right?...

Bungie need to add to the matchmaking, party building, and social options. This game comes to life when it's played with others. They know this, they delayed reviews because of this, yet they didn't build the game to embrace this.

Baffling.

Oh man. That sucks. Especially since on Xbox, we've only got 4 strikes :(

I don't mean to single you out, but if PvP isn't your thing isn't this the case for nearly all shooters?

Well Destiny has been hyped as much more than just your everyday shooter hasn't it? Just a little disappointed by the small amount of content we've been given outside of competitive multiplayer.

I'm surprised that people like the multiplayer. I don't like it at all lol. I'm finding more enjoyment by grinding those level 20-22 randomized strike mission looking for legendary gear. I enjoy grinding for gear like diablo

Fantastic enemy AI in Destiny for one thing.

Unless Bungie rolls out decent, free updates, which is something they've mentioned wanting to do, it will fall prey to exactly what plagues MMOs. There's never enough content. PVP can only go so far.

I'm at the same point, so I'll join you if I'm on at that time.

While this is true, it doesn't change the fact that people trusted Bungie and what they said about their game.

Because all three of those IPs were as massive as they are now two days after they released, right? Please keep things in context.

Erm, Lord of the Rings was well written from the get go. Are you suggesting that people are not seeing the greatness of the game's story yet?

Top tip: to get the 20x double kill with the secondary pulse rifle, go to level 3 (Evil Within) on Earth. The Thrall practically line themselves up to let you get it. Took a couple runs.

Also to get precision killa bounty easily. Use a hand cannon. It aim assist to their heads easily lol

Because all three of those IPs were as massive as they are now two days after they released, right? Please keep things in context.

You're missing the point. It's not about scale, it's about story, and attachment to the world. All of those IPs had amazing stories on day 1.

Destiny? Not so much.

Because seeing as people are already max level in a day, who is going to stick around for half a year?

Well I'm pretty certain with the PvP it'll have a community at least longer than 6 months. Especially since it's damn fun :) That and the daily missions/weekly missions etc that they'll add to the game. I will admit that having expansion packs does make me worry in terms of what they'll give players for free.

Unless Bungie rolls out decent, free updates, which is something they've mentioned wanting to do, it will fall prey to exactly what plagues MMOs. There's never enough content. PVP can only go so far.

Absolutely but I'm pretty certain we'll at least get some decent content for free. Assuming Activision aren't completely greedy.

I'll be happy when in 2-3 weeks from now the haters will leave this thread and the people who love it will stay.

The last dozens of posts have been nothing but negativity without actually posting impressions.

And then you have some who rank Warframe higher than Destiny.

.... I can't even..

Because all three of those IPs were as massive as they are now two days after they released, right? Please keep things in context.

Well, see. Here's the big difference and why context doesn't mean a whole lot, depending.

Will people go out and buy Destiny 2 based on what was released in Destiny 1? Or are people too burned by their expectations being thrown to the ground?

When I finished Harry Potter 1, I immediately wanted book 2. When I finished A New Hope, I immediately wanted to watch The Empire Strikes Back.

I haven't completed the Destiny story, and I very much enjoy the game. But will those who did not enjoy the story go out and buy Destiny 2 on launch day?

We'll see!

Normally I think all the comments about bungie overselling and over promising is really misplaced but this is pretty bad. I'm starting to agree with you that for those that really pay attention to the hype bungie throw around you have reason to be really disappointed.

However those of you that got hyped from the beta I don't see anything to be upset about. Imho the quality rises after earth so unless you just expected a different game destiny is what the beta was just more. I personally really like it. I can see myself playing it often. In fact nothing yet announced has me thinking I would prefer it over Destiny at this point.

There's a raid you know. Which is the real endgame and PvP at max level rewards you with marks and such to get even better gear. Strikes are only the beginning.

Max level doesn't mean shit. Just like Diablo 3 starts at 70, Destiny starts once you reach lvl 20.

You have to grind for days to get better equipment and level up further and it's gonna take a long time to fully level up both subclasses.

These kinds of comments make no sense. The nature of FPS vs Hotkey combat means traditional MMO's have far more flexibility for encounter design. The two shouldn't be compared.

There are plenty of traditional MMO boss mechanics that could be applied to Destiny. Doesn't matter whether it's hotkey or FPS. Even if it is something as simple as 'don't stand in the fire'.

Also, Activision isn't responsible for the most successful MMO ever. Not by a long shot. Blizzard made WoW years before they partnered with Activision.

Having played WoW for four years I'm quite well versed in who is responsible for WoW, but given that Blizzard and Activision are the same company now you might want to get off your horse.

While this is true, it doesn't change the fact that people trusted Bungie and what they said about their game.

Oh, for sure. I just can't get too upset at that because it's been a fact for... well, since video games happened. A dev will always talk their game up like it's the 2nd Coming.

So general concensus, imo of course: destiny pvp = awesome just like halo, destine pve = first person diablo ?

Destiny PVP= Bungies worst ever, far worse than Reach. If I'm not mistaken there is essentially only Domination, slayer, and free for all. There are no custom games, no file share, nothing community oriented. PVE is fun but the story is awful.

One of the main things that has irked me so far is finding engrams that are already decoded. Usually I wouldn't have a problem with it, but considering that they nerfed the gains you get from buying off the Cryptoarch, it's just....a bad design choice.

Wait. So there's no way to join a friends game in progress? I remember seeing in the E3 demo someone would be playing on Old Russia and then you see a guardian ship swoop in and drop off a guardian. Is that not in the game anymore?

I love how some posters can't handle any sort of negativity for their beloved Destiny, saviour of the next-gen, slayer of single player, not an MMO.

An OT is for discussion of a game both good and bad. Destiny is game that has both good and bad so if you want a "Destiny is GOAT" echo chamber maybe make a new thread where you just gush all over it?

That's not an excuse for the previous 19 levels to be uninspired and bland. What do I do once I get to level 20? Play Domination forever and play the same 5-6 strike missions?
