Reading all of this really makes me want my ultimate Destiny experience to come true. Basically what they are doing, but the VIP is already on the planet (no showy entrance) creeping around without you knowing where, and the reward chest could be anywhere on the planet as well (preferably off the beaten path). Six Guardian Patrol Fireteams and better rewards in the chests.

Watching some streams today and it was awesome seeing a two full party completing these public events. It was almost exactly what Bungie told us would happen when they described what these events were going to be.

Also, any clarification on whether crucible bounties are doubled yet? I've heard contradicting info there.

wait for shit to happen (is this on a timer?)
kill waves and a boss dude
pick up a key the boss dude drops (do you have to pick it up)
timer goes off and you have to find a chest
open the chest get lootz (whats in it?)
do you have to have the bounty active to get the event or the loot?

Collect bounty. Currently 4 are available.

Two each on Earth and Venus.

Go to the location mentioned on the bounty, wait for message on your screen "band of wolves roaming". Kill couple of fallen captains with scorch cannons. Grab the cannon.

Kill few waves of fallen, wait for boss to spawn and then take him down.

You get 90 seconds to search for and open the treasure chest.

My understanding about chests: you get the chest after killing the target, regardless of if you have (or even already did the bounty or chest). i.e. you can farm these chests by sitting around waiting for the events to happen (they happen like public events).

No idea about crucible stuff; I think everyone's got chest fever.

Grab the 4 bounties from Petra Venj, which gives the locations of the targets. Sometimes you have to wait 10 mins before this kind of public event starts.
You'll get a prompt: "The wolves are prowling" or something along these lines, kill the waves that come out of the drop ships and the boss (you can play around with the Scorch Cannon or if you're lucky with the new pike at the Ember Caves).

Everyone that has shot the boss gets the key and bounty. Then you have 90 seconds to find a highlighted chest in the area. Ruthless and me have been posting pics of most locations. Most of the time this chest will contain blue engrams, ammo synthesis and planet materials, but you can also find legendary engrams, passage coins or Treasure Keys.

Handing in the bounties awards you with 250 rep (or 312 rep with the NF boost) towards the Queens faction. Handing in all 4 will get you to rank 1 and then you can buy a sweet emblem
