Had my first taste of ToO then (thanks Tito). I think I fucking hate it. I hate Skirmish too, so hardly unexpected. Trials is everything I dislike about Skirmish but with consequences.
The main reason I hate ToO? Because I am so, so bad at it. I've always been pretty poor at PvP stuff, when forced into it I tend to stick to Control as 3v3 just utterly exposes my shortcomings at multiplayer. I genuinely start to feel like dead weight for my team in Trials, knowing that my poor performance is holding them back and it sucks all the joy out of it, making it a very anxious experience for me. This evening, first go, not a single win. Think I managed perhaps 5 kills over the whole passage, I was a waste of space.
So now Trials has become a reminder of my PvP inadequacies, a mocking gatekeeper to loot I'll likely never get.
That's why I hate it. Its effectively locked a portion of the loot table off unless I can get 2 better players to carry me through. Its made loot a skill reward rather than RNG which is fairer, but for those like me who lack the skill.....it feels a bit salty.
In a bad mood now.
