CB: We want the Skolas encounter to be challenging and require teamwork, only in a more predictable way that doesn’t feel cheap. To accomplish this, we’re making the following changes to Round 6 of the Skolas Challenge:

New Modifier combinations (Arc, Void, and Solar Burn will be removed)
Boss health is reduced (to compensate for the lack of burn)
Minions will spawn at predictable health intervals
Minor adjustment to the unit makeup of the combatant waves

(I figured a copy paste of the details was worth posting. )

But the burn makes it easier! As long as it isn't arc... hope his health gets a hefty reduction.

Btw, could they make the weapons drop like maybe once out of 329047234049723419085763405723408953475023470523470567 runs. Just want to get 1. Don't even care if it's an AR. Just SOMETHING.

How did they think it'd be fine to not include this in a raid fight.

Well, minions that spawn at health intervals also implies that you can eventually kill them all, and only have the boss to deal with.

Some bosses work like this already in the game, other bosses spawn minions (or adds) at a time interval.

Skolas was the latter before, now he'll be the former.

Yep, this will be much better now. Moving around the map will be entirely viable.

Hopefully they balance it properly so that the best way to complete the encounter is to actually engage in the mechanics without it being too punishing.

I rather like the hot potato/mine dismantling and the teamwork and communication it requires.

I thought the enemies spawn when you destroy the servitors and after you destroy the bonds

First enemies are probably timed because if you go on ammo runs, the first wave comes out shortly after you kill the second Servitor on the other side of the map so I don't think it's event based. The issue was everything after that seemed completely random: sometimes you'd have breaks in between waves and sometimes enemies just kept coming.

If they want a mechanics fight, random variables like add spawns make it absurdly difficult which probably accounts for why some runs go flawlessly and the same group can take hours on the repeat.

Also kind of funny to see the fight was tuned for burns.

Yea, reduced health is gonna make him easier anyway with Horns

Thats what I was thinking. Less damage, but less health too. Maybe not a complete wash, but Ghorn spam will cerainly be viable.

I doubt it.

Burns give us what? A 50% increase to damage?

They would have to drop his health by 25% to even it out. I doubt they'll drop it that much. Maybe 10%, 15% at the most.

Of course, G'horn gonna G'horn anyway.

I'd much rather prefer if they get rid of specialist/small arms modifier for that Pilot Servitor...33% damage penalty from being underleveled + 25% damage penalty to every weapon that is not the modifier weapon really makes everything else useless in that fight. That dude becomes the biggest bullet sponge in the game.

Elemental burn is 300%. I don't think you'll be able to burn him down and not deal with adds and mines once they make the change. Unless they dramatically reduce his health.

Why... you saw how they did on the 34 PoE with EVERYTHING ascended in their inventory.

That was Deej. I want to see the real playtesters, like DrCrispy and his crew playing. They must have skillz. I want to know if they found Skolas arc burn to be easy mode... or what Bungie was really thinking with arc burn and what the testers said about it.

Oh that makes sense. Is there a glitch then where scatter grenades replenish super energy with each fragment that hits?

yes exactly

3 gjallarhorns is still going to melt him, no?

unless the primary or special modifier is on, but it's not like those make much difference

I thinkg they absolutely make a lot of difference because it's 25% penalty on top of your 33% damage penalty from being a level under.

The major Servitor adds are worse IMO. Black Hammer does decent DPS against P. Servitor even with small arms. The smaller Servitors are a lot harder to get the White Nail proc on, running in with shotguns is suicide and probably not worth it, and so you're left pelting him with a couple of magazines of primaries. Since (most?) primaries don't do great burst DPS it can get pretty tiring.

I laugh when I see people trying to Gjallarhorn during small arms or specialist. You do way more damage with a primary with precision damage or a shotgun than a single Gjallarhorn shot.

I stood on one of those middle platforms in the skolas arena and killed vandal after vandal as I was watching them respawn out of thin air before my very eyes.
