So i got round to playing as all 3 characters and i feel that Titan is easily the best for PvE and Hunter is the best for PvP with warlock in-between, anyone agree?
(

In my experience Warlocks has been the most effective in PVP by a LARGE margin.

- Best Melee skills with best melee range
- REALLY easy to rack up a ton of kills with Nova Bomb
- Possibility for the most armor with the Ram helmet
- Blink... nuff said.

Sunsinger 'locks and Defender Titans are both really good for PvE, especially together - orbs for days.

Also can someone on X1 help me do the 32 prison of elders sometime?. We got to the last round but that thing just regenerates health and after about an hour of trying i just quit. :(
All the classes are pretty viable.

Gunslingers in PvP enjoy a fantastic Super which allows mobility and targeted elimination of multiple spread out targets. Along with a long range melee (throwing knife), snappy jumps that allow aerial shooting and great Tripmine grenades, they're a fantastic and well rounded class.

Bladedancers are also extremely attractive for PvP. They can blink: offensively, this means they can just pop into your face with a shotgun out. Defensively, it means they can vanish from your line of sight and disorient you if you don't know how to deal with it. Arc bolt grenades are great for tagging enemies and finishing them off easily or getting the assist. What I love most? QuickDraw. Changing weapons and ADS more quickly is often the difference between a trade and a kill. If you use shotguns you might like the increased slide though. Overall a great choice.

Warlocks are no slouches. With amazing, vicious grenades, super long melees which buff them on contact (instead of on kill), super dangerous Supers and (imo) the most useful exotic armor options Warlocks are srs bsns.

Titans are well balanced in that Defenders are PvE champions and Strikers are super PvP deadly. The most agile class in the game once you master the jump thrust, Lightning and Flashbang grenades are both vicious. That, plus Fist of Panic solving any tricky situation ;)

We all feel better with one class or another but after playing enough it's clear that they all have great advantages.

I need to stay off the OT board. People on there infuriate me to no fucking end.

Doesn't matter what the topic is, shit always gets turned to black and whites in USA.

Fucking hell.

Sorry. Vent over.

I should of added that i only fully upgraded the sun singer class, which by the sounds of it is probably nowhere as good as void walker. I also have that ram helmet but i was under the impression that level advantages are not enabled in pvp.

Yea absolutely, just that with the sun singer class you kind of have to keep the special ability just incase everyone gets downed.

The reason i think Hunter is the best for pvp, is mainly because of the overpowered abilities (golden gun, blade dancer)

The trick to Sunsinger is to NOT save it. Pop radiance whenever you get it.

I think that may change when TTK arrives both Titan and Warlock will get access to free roaming supers much like both the Gunslinger and Bladedancer do currently.

Still I welcome the variety!

I'm just grateful to have a PVE friendly hunter class when TTK arrives.

Just checked my Moments of Triumph all I'm missing is a hard Crota clear.

If any kind soul from Dgaf would let me tag along in their raid team within the next month that would be pretty cool lol

Xbox or PS4? If someone around here has the CP, a decent group can knock out Crota in like 3 minutes, just have to kill the final boss for the raid clear. Even without the CP, the whole raid takes maybe 30 minutes with people who know how to run it.

Level advantages refers to the fact that, outside Iron Banner and Trials of Osiris, being level 34 or level 24 won't make a difference in damage dealt or damage taken. Likewise, having your weapon at 365 attack or 300 won't make a difference.

Perks and abilities, however, are enabled. If you look at your subclass ability tree you'll see you can increase armor, agility or recovery. These factors are felt everywhere in the game, including the Crucible. If you chose to go all-armor on your Warlock, you get 202 hit points. For reference, a high impact Hand Cannon hits for ~94 in Crucible. So if you spec for max armor you can survive two shots. The Ram further buffs your armor, making you survive things like:
- 2 Thorn headshots
- 4 The Last Word body shots
- Several types of grenades full-on
- 2 body shots from a Praedyth's-impact Sniper
All of which would otherwise have been a death.

As for your Super, holding it until you die is the biggest mistake people make. It should only be saved for a clutch revive in Trials or maybe a tricky Nightfall.

Anywhere else you want to use it to get kills, make orbs for your team mates and be able to charge and use it again. If you have Viking Funeral and Touch of Flame (you should), that Super can be used hyper aggressively with a high Discipline build. Just spam those Firebolts and burn everyone to death. Also, melee becomes OP as hell during Radiance. Add Radiant Skin for normal Crucible and you can tank so much damage while everything around you burns.

Ps4, he's on my friends list. You got hard crota checkpoint by any chance?

^we did 2 full Crota clears last night but I don't think I bothered to save the CP. Might try to solo up to Crota for fun, haha.

Yep, I agree w this. Defender is the best PvE subclass and Blade Dancer is the best PvP subclass. PvP is more debatable but PvE really isn't imo.

Of course every class and subclass has great qualities for both fun and effectiveness in all game modes, experimenting w all the variations is the best way to play. Ultimately the player controlling the character determines success, not the character's class.

Lovely day yesterday of reset rumbling.

Some of the smoothest 35 downs in a while GG

Drizz and bombastico

Lol no kidding. Three PoE 35s with 0 wipes, each one took ~45 minutes. Hard to beat that! :)

I think we just clicked as a team really just when things went a little pear shaped just got on with it didn't panic and just adjusted and overcame it.

I got two ciphers now going to do warlock once it matures and then get a key next week and start on my titan one, I was looking at reviews and I think dregs promise looks interesting as a weapon, I love Vestian so we'll see how it works out, get the shotgun last I think.

The problem I find with these new weapons is that it's hard to justify not using hawkmoon/Thorn over something new, as the others to quote gears of war 2
"the problem is it's just too damn good."

Whats with all the accusations now suddenly when people accuse you of using the Thorn glitch.
Last night got 3 different messages from people accusing me of the glitch. People found a new reason to blame it on something when they lose a gunfight?

I for one can't wait for the day I can actually use my Mida for PvP all the time not worry about getting outgunned by a good Thorn or TLW user.
I've been using it for a while now with much success, it's a good counter from long range. Just keep your distance because rushing with the Mida is never a good idea.

MIDA + Dance Machines is not viable at competitive play but sooooo damn fun. If Scouts move up the food chain I'd be delighted.

Yeah, I've found that I do a lot better on my Ramlock than my Titan and Hunter in Crucible. The melee is really good and surviving Thorn headshots really helps.

there's nothing in Mercury that I want. But I'll play a million tickets if I have to this weekend: I absolutely have to have that sexy sniper rifle.

ToO and PoE snipers both on sale = super nice loot to look forward too. Stats on armor look pretty good too.

Good morning Dgaf!

Anyone familiar with pulse rifle sights? Spent a crap ton of weapon parts on getting on good roll on my pilgrim...

Not sure if I should use Red Dot-ORES or Truesight IS...

Morning DGAF.

Helped my IRL buddy get his first Skolas kill yesterday. Thanks to GAFer Blunoise1 for the assist!

I'll be on early afternoon so if anyone needs 3xs 34 and 2xs Skolas I am down. I want two more Ciphers!

Looking at the modifiers for Skolas this week, it'll be my best chance to down him and complete all Year 1 Triumphs.

Got Lord of Wolves last night and it seems ok, but for PVE I'm not sure why I'd use it over Gjallarhorn.

It's fun to shake things up. Lord of Wolves isn't something you'll use all the time, but it can be super fun. It's like a low range hyper powered Pulse Rifle. With Specialist or Solar burn (or both at once lol) it absolutely wrecks and just has so damn much reserve ammo...

It'll rarely, if ever, be the "best" option available but this game isn't really too hard. You can run basically all the content with sub-optimal loadouts and it helps keep things fresh to play with different things.

I usually use Gjally against bosses but I can take out LoW and spend an entire Strike just having fun and burning my enemies, it's super cool.

Lord of Wolves is by far my favorite of the 3 new exotics, it is crazy fun to use, and I've seen people own it up in PvP with it :D

So is Gjallarhorn. :p
It's a RL, making it severely ammo-restricted. Completely apples to oranges. The Horn is a good RL but there's nothing different about it except for damage markers from Wolfpack Rounds.

LoW is a novelty crossover weapon which you can actually spend an entire mission or strike using against enemies large and small, and it actually plays different from everything else. It isn't just a strong weapon the way Gjallarhorn is; it's a different weapon which will affect your play style (like No Land Beyond, Universal Remote and Queen's Bow)

I dunno man. Last night I tried out the LoW in the Nightfall and I ran out of ammo quickly. Special ammo was scarce too.

It feels like it was designed for trivial content and PVP. Don't see myself using it in actual content that I could wipe in, because Found Verdict and Gjallarhorn are just too strong.

Basically, Bungie needs to make better weapons or I'm not going to change my standard Vision of Confluence/Found Verdict/Gjallarhorn loadout any time soon. :p

Hmm, I see a preferential weighting there. RNG my ass.
RNG doesn't imply all outcomes have equal weighting. It would be silly to say it's bullshit that 7 comes up more than 2 or 12 when rolling two dice.

I've been using it for a while now with much success, it's a good counter from long range. Just keep your distance because rushing with the Mida is never a good idea.
Which is ironic, considering its eponymous perk.

Yup, this exactly.

Even TDB gave us the BlackHammer and Fang(I like it for Skolas over Fatebringer. Please don't hang me)

First time i have gotten 3 legendary engrams from a weekly heroic strike. Now just a little more for all 3 chars to be 33,34.
Felt bad for the other 2 randoms in the grp :p

I don't think anyone has ever suggested that all weapons are equally weighted.

I mean even in absence of any hard confirmation, I think anybody who's played consistently can attest to Crota's End having a loot table biased towards TDB Exotics - No Land Beyond / Dragon's Breath drop way more often than anything else from Deathsinger and Crota.

As to whether Xûr is a randomized loot table with different weights or a curated selection by Bungie though...what difference does it make? If you buy from Xûr every week you'll eventually own every Exotic, RNG or not.

Remember that every single weapon has been sold already. The only exceptions being Bounty, Raid and PS exclusive ones for natural reasons. Armor as well: except for a few of the HoW pieces he's sold every single armor piece.

Xûr gets a ton of hate but I'll never get why.

Thats the thing. All the content is trivially easy. Outside of Skolas with a nasty modifier combo or a Raid when under leveled / solo / flawless, everything in this game is almost hilariously easy. The fact that spawns never ever change means we know exactly when an enemy is coming, where he will be, and when and how everything happens.

If you have a vanilla loadout you like so much that you spend a year using it, all the better! But being better or worse makes little difference when you can literally defeat Crota: without using weapons at all, or using No Land Beyond exclusively, or freaking blindfolded (amazing videos). When you can solo Atheon with nothing but a pulse rifle and some patience.

I love Fatebringer and doubt I'll ever like any primary better than it. But I don't use it exclusively just for the sake of variety :)

So I have a question.

We were doing VOG HM last night. I have a non-ascended Thorn. On the Atheon fight, it was taking me almost a full round of Thorn shots to take out an Oracle (I was doing like 185-200 damage per hit on the red Oracles). Is that simply because my gun is not ascended? I feel so weak in comparison to other people.

Ran about 15 dragon strikes this morning. Sad to say I saw the Dust Palace more than I saw any Legendary drop :(

I was going to chain strikes last night, but my first strike zoned me in with ZERO other people. Amazing matchmaking system.
