Destiny |OT28| Nolan Beyond

Basically, I would hoard everything you can right now until it's crystal clear what's carrying over and what can be converted. Only dismantle if you absolutely need space. Stock up on mats, but make sure to get back to the mark cap before TTK launch.

So...

If legendary weapons now don't convert or break down into anything different when TTK drops, does it really make sense to hoard them? I don't quite get why they told us to hang onto them.

Obviously they meant armor, because our characters will be boosted to the level of their highest possible current light level based on the armor held by the character and in the vault.

Seems like weapons will not be used for anything special, not even the 10 gjallerhorns I bought up.

I imagine there is a possibility that TTK legendaries may start dropping after the upcoming patch, like what happened in crucible before HoW. So if there were a time to hoard legendaries, it would be then, if it happens again.

I don't really understand all this mark discussion. How does this system work now and what exactly is changing?

I guess being underleveled at all the venders makes it easy for me to ignore all of it.
Currently you can hold 600 crucible and 600 vanguard marks on your account, 1200 altogether (That's a cap of 200 of each type of mark per character).

You can only earn 100 respective marks per week, per character (that's 100 crucible and 100 vanguard, 200 altogether).

When the update comes you can earn an unlimited amount of marks per week (no longer called vanguard or crucible, but now just legendary marks) but you can only hold up to 200 at a time. This is account wide NOT character wide. So they essentially took the potential to hold 1200 marks at any given time away from us but we can earn more than 200 (per character) per week.

Not to mention, year two guns don't seem to be refotgable based on everything we know. The god rolls we have may only be useful in vanilla Crucible, but we may not be able to get anything as good after.

A ton of new crucible bounties, including the weekly one with a NF like reward, is plenty of reason to hang onto your favorite Year 1 crucible weapons.

Year 2 guns are not reforge-able. Year 1 guns will still be rollable.

just your highest level gear as that will determine your level on TTK. you dont have to have it equipped, just have it somewhere. they said there going to take stock when 2.0 drops I think.

Totally--that's my point. Hold on to the god rolls and use them for vanilla Crucible.

I worry some folks are going shard crazy and will come to find that new guns will have crappier, locked perks in general.

I like the new infusion system. eat up bullet hoses to feed to my handcannons.

However I am not sure how useful thsi will be in the long run though. if Raid weapons are not the best guns in the game, then they failed. and they should already be at max light.

I only ran 343 dragon strikes for my Hopscotch so it isn't too valuable to me.

ill keep 1 ash factory, 1 matador and discard the dupes. however I think the crucible would be alot more healthy place without them

Hey guys, just got Destiny this Monday, looking for a clan!

I'm a lvl 26 Hunter, mostly interested in PVE stuff, rather skilled player.

Totally addicted to this game.

Edit. PS4, could also hit me up on PSN - Filip_Kackiewicz.

Welcome! Feel free to add me: ichabod00.

Here's a list of clans in the OP: DGaf Clans

Unfortunately Clans aren't used all that well in Destiny, they can be good for looks for groups tho.

You'll want to join SEXY, we're the best Shoot First Kiss Later

You'll see a lot more weapon variety in regular crucible just due to the bounties. Some of the bounties were like "9 Kills in a winning match with an Auto Rifle (0/3)"

Shotties and RLs are a little hard to pin down until we see the effects of the shot package, grenades and horseshoes etc nerfs. I'll definitely be keeping my best rolls though.

Snipers have the best chance to live long and prosper, even in Trials or IB. I have no idea what the math will be to see how much damage a Her Benevolence will do in TTK Trials.

oh god, remember when iron banner had a sniper rifle kill bounty and everyone just sat back, did nothing trying to snipe people. oh, what a fun mess that was

I don't know how many legendary marks you get for dismantling a year 2 legendary. But one way to overcome the legendary marks cap is to keep a a whole bunch of legendaries that drop for you in the vault.

Now we have 72 armor spots and my armor vault is usually empty. So that's 72 pieces of legendary armor that I can store as reserve legendary marks. Makes sense to save those useless legendaries that you get from NF etc instead of sharding them right away.

Also if your at the marks cap and you have nothing you want to buy you can buy legendary armor and put it in your vault to go over the marks cap. You probably lose doing it but if your not spending your marks now anyway then you gain by having marks in reserve in your vault.

Bungie is saying you either have to play like a maniac week 1 or you have to wait a long time to get enough legendary marks to re-acquire all your remixed year 2 gear.

I'm actually going to min/max my gear for PvE and PvP this time around. Two sets for each character, glad the vault spac was doubled. I was so interested in PvE only for the first 2/3 of Destiny's life that I never bothered focusing on the meta going on in Crucible and realized a little to late once I saw it in action.

Haha I never bothered with Iron Banner back then, sounds like that would have been a mess. At least they showed on the stream those bounties were available for a few different weapon types. Won't have a crucible match of all Auto Rifles hopefully.

Just so I am clear on this...you can't infuse year 1 weapons into year 2 weapons, right? i.e. that would be the only reason at this point I could see to holding into year 1 legendaries.

Seems like the case for going ahead and getting rid of old useless legendaries is pretty solid.

I don't know how to feel about NIghtfall tier rewards being brought to Crucible. On one hand it adds more value to PvP, on the other hand it means that they'll be more shitty players taking part in PvP who are only looking to get moar rewards whilst weighing down everyone else in the process.

PvP needs a ranking system asap.

Thanks! That did a good job explaining it. Seems like the new system is beneficial in the sense that I can earn unlimited marks but the 200 cap does seem really restrictive.

It sounds like I'll be doing a lot of grinding for marks taking them to the Tower and then grinding again.

Are you guys 100% sure Mats still play a role in TTK?
Are you thinking they want to go back to patrols?

Mats are still used for upgrades but it looked like you'd need 5 or maybe 10 or so per upgrade. So not a lot at all and we can still not be sure that the Vanguard quartermaster doesn't still sell them for marks.

No they didn't mean that.

Weapons contribute to Light level now.

Not sure it's possible but I'd love an in-game bulletin board where you could click something or post what you're looking to do. And just have it for people on your friends list.

Maybe a kiosk in the Tower - fly on down, check the board and away you go. Would greatly enhance the game imo.

thats what it sounds like, im not taking any chances yet though. too much ambiguousness :)

yes, I know thats not a real word
but it should be

Define "grind"

Cuz you get them from damn near everything.

What would be better is a bubble that pops up when you float over someone's name on your friends list in game. Roster -> float over name -> hey I am looking to do VoG sometime today. And an easy way for someone to manage that message.

The way they were pimping those ghosts that find planetary materials I think they are going back to the patrols for mats. I didn't see anywhere to buy planetary materials when they pulled up any of the vendors.

There are other ways to get mats too. Seems like every time I visit Variks he's giving me a stack of shit.

Doing the daily heroic will earn you a nice amount as well.

IMO, people are going way overboard saying that IF they remove mark exchange you'll have to run around on Patrol for hours again.

I stopped upgrading gear and I stopped sharding gear. Got some Exotic doubles drop (I woudl usually shard em). now I am being stingy and keep em

I was wrong. I have about 1000 of each planetary material. And no space as a result. I think I'm good with materials for a while.

And yeah once a week and once each rank up varicks gives you a huge stack of materials.

I love, love, LOVE this.

Excellent idea for pushing weapon variety all around.

Interesting how they tied "winning" to the bounty as well. It kind of reinforces the fact that if it's a sniping bounty you can't just sit back in a Control map, get your kills, and call it a day. You actually have to help your team in the process of getting your kills. I can guarantee you a team of snipers or auto-rifle users will lose if they are playing an even semi-decently balanced team.

I really wish my crucible stats would reset, totally different player now than I was when Destiny came out. Only way I know to do it is delete and start characters over which isn't worth it to me.

I'm excited about the App updates for TTK. Bungie will probably add a lot of neat stuff.

We talked about this yesterday. I know there are third party apps for it, but I really want to be able to transfer a weapon from one character to another. Not have to put it in the vault first, it drives me nuts. Accepting bounties from advisors would be cool too, considering you don't have to visit them to turn them in anymore.
