Oh my god. I just leveled up the Cryptarch, got 2 legendary engrams with him, closed my eyes, turned them in, and I got Universal Remote and Young Ahamkaras Spine off them. Wooooow I'm always closing my eyes now.

Not to ruin the farming parade here (seriously, someone link me to the post that has instructions on how to do what Over- nevermind, posted while I was typing!), but I finally got my copy today despite pre-ordering way back in December of last year.

I got to level 10 playing around work. Nothing done outside of Earth right now, but after my controller is charged I plan on playing at least a Moon mission tonight.

Anyways, I played some PvP, probably 6 games or so, and wow am I bad at it. I felt like I was being one shot while everyone else was wrecking me. Is it because I am using low level gear? I know level advantage is disabled in the Crucible, but is gear advantage? Is everyone's strength, discipline, etc all normalized? If so, well, I am really rusty on a controller. I'v always been worse at Halo-ish multiplayer than CoD, but wow did I do terrible in those few attempts.

How invisible is the Bladedancer skill on crouch to other players in Crucible? We talking Predator invisible or Predator just got wet invisible or barely concealed at all invisible?

The new Moon farming spot is in the mission The Dark Beyond. Choose the Level 9 "Hard" version of the mission. Run through it normally until you get to the Temple of Crota. As soon as the doors open, kill all the lackeys you can (Acolytes and Thralls) but leave the Knight alive and let him kill you. You'll spawn back right before the doors open. Lather, rinse, repeat.

These legendary engram's just make me want to cry, 6th one has turned into some clearly not rare crap that has instantly been dismantled. I'm never going to escape this current level 24.

Does the level matter or just that it's hard?

Barely invisible. Not worth it to trade it for showstopper.

In other news I got an exotic sniper out of a legendary engram. And it's a fucking beauty.

The base stats are solar damage and no backpack. You can't reload this weapon instead ammo regenerates.

Holy fuck I will never run out of special ammo again. My life is almost complete now.

Really good spot, used it to farm out the 500 Hive kills I needed for the Thorn Bounty. Ended up with 6 Blue Engrams, a ton of greens, and one Purple.

Edit- level 26 here.

totally agree. Destiny would be a lot better if they had taken some cues from ME3 multiplayer. The powers rewarded and emphasize teamwork

Yeah, ME3 multiplayer really forced you to play as and synergize your skills with your team to complete the harder difficulties. The skills in Destiny are just really lackluster in comparison. How cool would it be if the warlocks grenades had a "lift" effect and the Titan's super could detonate lifted targets. A man can dream I suppose.

Stealth enemies in the campaign levels of invisibility.

yeah. its not much but as long as you're not running straight at someone from 30 yards away you're pretty much unnoticed.

i don't think cloaking during arc blade is worth it though. maybe on bigger maps and 3 v 3 but... even then, :/

IIMHO don't bother doing these to get better loot if that's what you're planning to do
okay, this is fine advice if you are already maxed on marks for the week or aren't interested in the vanguard gear, but otherwise it is still all in the service of getting loot.

I think something important to keep in mind is that this is deviating from the traditional loot game ideology quite a bit. rather than the expectation of regular upgrades via random drops, most actions you can undertake in Destiny offer static progress toward the concrete purchase of gear that you can select and definitely use, with a variety of random chances for upgrades or extra goodies on the way.

I have no doubt that this will not dull the rage of finding a purple engram and having it pop out a blue. having things work that way without proper acclimatization was a bad call by Bungie, because the expectation created by other loot games has resulted in a traditional moment of excitement when you get an unidentified "legendary" (or what have you). You find a shiny and say "oooh I can't wait to see what that is!" and you run back to the identifier like a kid running downstairs at christmas. Destiny subverts this with such a high chance of the item becoming something either subpar or useless for your class, and it's not to its benefit.

However, I'm starting to see that the main issue with this from a play-feedback perspective is simply coloring purple engrams purple. With the chance for blues to become purple and purples to become exotic, I'm not actually convinced there's anything wrong with the RNG ratios/loot distribution/rarity of legendaries+exotics- it's more a problem from the psychological perspective of someone used to playing more traditional loot/dungeon crawler games.

Again, I don't expect this to help people who are getting pissed off by the repeated promise of legendary loot only to get nothing beneficial. It's just something to keep in mind I guess. I'm saying this as someone who at level 24.5 has not even seen a purple engram- let alone decrypted one- I don't feel confused or unable to progress in gearing up.

What's uppppp?

So I made this quick video to show you guys where I farm and how I FINALLY got some PURPLE STUFF!!!

Some of you probably know about this already but for those who don't try it out and let me know if you've had any success.

Also please be patient. Of course you can get lucky and get a purple or multiple ones in 20-30 minutes or so but it does take time to grind this out but it is very rewarding because not only do you get abunch of green/blue + chance of purple engrams.
But also you get so many that you can level up the cryptarch multiple times after maybe a 2-3 hour run depending.

Sp yeah I hope you like it and never go back to THE NEXUS haha j/k

I'm gonna try that shit as soon as I'm off. Sounds much easier than the other suicide one.

First try something easy to use like a Shotgun. Don't have one? Buy one at the vendor. In Rumble (free for all) the other day I saw a dude wrecking us all with a Shinigen-E rifle. That looks like easy mode for real. I think the guns are no doubt unbalanced because there are sooo many. So when you killed look to the top right of your screen. See what weapon they used to kill you. If you see your dying to that gun a lot try acquiring it

So yeah- everyone is worm food at the beginning until we learn what guns to go with. Far as I can tell most any secondary gun is good (Fusion Rifle, shotguns) and heavies seem all effective (rockets, machine gun, etc). I use rifles for long range only. If I think someone is close I switch to the shotty

I'm usually at least around #2 (top 3) on Rumble matches unless I come across someone much cheaper than me :)

That's not how it works- Vanish would be the one to replace Showstopper, and I agree that's a not worthwhile trader. Stalker however, the stealth on crouch, I have actually found really handy in both PvP and PvE.

Gear is only an advantage in Iron Banner matches. Those haven't opened up yet. The skills you unlock for your class are still viable however, but that exotic handgun you're packing is still going to be a handgun, as I understand it.

As for PvP, I think Salvage is "friendliest". It's 3v3 and your team just needs to make it to a relic site-- a "control zone"-- and claim the spot then hold it for something like 30seconds or a minute, I can't remember. The games seem to go by quick and the smaller number of players plus a single control zone to worry about means more chances to get some kills in. I really enjoy it.

is not the invisibility that matters. you can drop off of radar for 5-10 seconds, which lets you get the drop on people and move around undetected. obviously they can still see the camo, but you'll usually see them first.

is also funny in PvE. They can still see you when cloaked but they wont shoot at you.

@Fushichou187, interesting I always get pimped in Salvage. I dunno if we are up against organized parties or what. I usually play pvp with randoms. Most of my friends on my list are all loot-grinding in PvE :(

Yes my purple turned into a fucking green from that moon spot....fuck this I'm going back to farming strikes for marks and shit to make sure I can buy gear down the road

Especially Fallen it seems like. It's like they're trying to decide if you're a threat :p This is really useful IMO. you can reposition safely AND sometimes get attention off your teammates.

What skill is that for Hunters? I knew I shoulda rolled a Hunter again. I was a Hunter in beta. I'd love to get off people's radar!

That's a really cool special ability, how fast does the ammo regenerate?

Like I never run out of shots fast. It has a 6 shot magazine and you can't pick up any additional ammo so it will always read 6/0. Shit is guud.

there's the crouch/cloak option as well. i just don't feel that the arc blade really needs it. once you show up on the kill feed once, people will instinctively drop everything they're doing and give full attention to space wolverine.

The three factions have different armor stats. I went new monarchy because they give you intellect and strength and because their symbol is coolest.

One thing that I was pleasantly surprised to discover was that the Vanguard offers gear with all skills, just not all at once.

My legendary engram turned into a rare item, but because I levelled up the cryptarch I got another legendary engram which gave me a legendary machine gun. :D

There are three ways to enter Stealth as a Hunter.

One is Stalker, a skill where if you crouch for ~3s you'll get ~5s of stealth. Didn't count, but yeah. Amazing synergy with the slide crouch imo.

Then there's Escape Artist, Stealth on a successful Blink Strike hit. Useful, but I'm not sure it beats the alternatives.

Then Vanish, R2 during Arc Blade to stealth. Meh. Like the other option, it just pales in comparison to the usefulness of Showstopper.

I agree with this, stealth isn't particularly useful for Arc Blade anyway

you know what i'm noticing? the faster you kill enemies in rapid succession, the more likely they are to drop engrams.

could just be coincidence
