Destiny |OT36| Fifty Shades of TTK

Speaking of loading screens..

Has anyone's menus gotten really slow / bad? For like the last month or so? I don't think I could've done The Chaperone quests if it had taken as long to load my menus and switch weapons as it does now.

there's more items being displayed in the inventory at any given moment so of course it's going to take longer to load.

Any tips how my brother and me can get through nightfall? We're both light lvl 290 but it seems impossible sometimes ;( is a 3 man Team necessary?

You can do it with 2. One of the modifiers this week is Specialist which increases damage with special weapons, but what they don't tell you is that it decreases the damage done by primary and heavy weapons. Just make sure to use special weapons to take down the tougher enemies, then use primary/heavy for the weaker ones.

And the fact I can't just go buy that one, specific mask to complete the set has nullified my interest in doing any of those quests or generally participating in any more of the seasonal events.

It's one mask for one quest, and the only reward for the quest is another mask. I wouldn't get too hung up on it.

But why do you guys both keep saying that we get this stuff for free? From Day 1, Destiny has been sold as a 10 year experience with special events and MMO-like events. When we bought the $60 product and subsequently the $35 expansion, this was all assumed to be part of the package. One of the biggest complaints was that Bungie didn't full deliver on this, since Iron Banner was largely lackluster, routine, and disappointing. Once again this was assumed when buying TTK, since the microtransactions weren't mentioned until after it was released.

What if the next Iron Banner has only 2 items that can be earned by playing (and you get it in the first 5 minutes), but emblems and other cosmetic items can be earned but only kept permanently if you spend silver. Is that okay?
Am I to understand that your expectation was receiving an unending stream of content on the basis of having bought the game for US$60? I just don't see how it's even remotely feasible for a company to keep making things just to give them out. Or why they would even do so.

When one person on your team is above 1 and everyone on their team is above 3.
It makes you question what metric MM is actually using to balance these teams.

According to Jason S at Kotaku, Who has had a lot of real scoops, Destiny 2 is going to be a $60 paid expansion marketed as a new game that exists in the same universe and uses existing areas and also has new areas.

He has been posting a bunch in the destinys paid DLC gaming side thread today.

I'd hope at least some of our stuff like shaders, emblems, emotes and ships would carry over - the cosmetic shit.

Imagine the furor if Destiny 2 was a completely clean slate as the old engine was bogus, and all the silver people spent on emotes went out the door.

As long as I kept buying expansions, yes. That is the game bungie was selling. That's exactly how they positioned it.

No, we're talking like a full minute to load at times. And I've been a hoarder since vanilla, I have the same amount of items. I'm so bad I could be on the Destiny version of Hoarders, so your reasoning is not valid unless you're referring to more players / more server requests.

...which, regardless, a minute to load is crazy.

Destiny 2 is gonna be interesting. The original leaked contract stipulated that it'd ditch last-gen consoles, but I have no idea if that's still true! I have heard that it'll be loaded on the same executable file that we use now, so it could very well feel more like TTK than a new game, but I'm not 100% on that. I'm pretty sure it'll carry over all of our characters, tho.

I got a wacky engram for playing since year 1 I guess? I ended up getting a Red Death which I've been wanting on Xbone for awhile. Is there any point in upgrading it all the way? Do I get the blueprint for the Y2 Red Death automatically?

If the cosmetic items that Bungie has said will not impact the game start impacting the game as in this scenario, then yes, people will be justifiably upset.

Yes, no if it's a year 1 model, and yes.

That's what I am expecting. I'd like Destiny to be a continuous experience.

All I ask is my Grimoire score come forward.

Missing the Calcified fragments and Rumble only. I want to keep that. It says nothing of skill: you can be a max Grim scrub like me or have super low grim and be a pro (Nghtly intentionally avoided doing shit which could add grim).

But I feel it's a nice trophy of mine. 100 wins each in all but one Crucible playlist. Thousands of kills with every weapon type. With every class, in PvE and PvP. Hundreds of Strikes and dozens of Raid clears. Every destination scoured for Ghosts. Every Petra bounty and PoE boss, thousands of kills of every enemy and in every planet.

I dunno, it's like a number attesting a very varied and complete experience in all aspects of the game. Once again : zero relation to skill.

By the time Destiny 2 comes out I'd be surprised if Activision even bothers with last gen versions of Call of Duty let alone Destiny 2.

It kind of seems to me like they want a game that has constant updates like a paid MMO, but they're not brave enough to go with a sub model (for good reason I think). Interesting that instead of a brand new big box release, Destiny 2 could be just like another expansion. Like 10 years from now we could still be doing VoG on our Level 99/80,000 Light characters.

I'm torn. On one hand I think having Destiny 2 not include all the Destiny 1 content would be kind of sad. But at the same time they have to cutoff last gen at some point. It'll be interesting to see what it looks like to login to Destiny 1 once you've played 2 and have year 3 gear. Will your slots just be empty for those pieces of equipment? I'm not sure how that would work. It almost has to be built on the current framework if we're bringing characters forward.

Yeah, constantly raising the same grimoire score is a great way to keep track of progression. Destiny needs more markers for progression like:

- Years as Guardian
- Designations for completing all content
- Hours played

It'll be nice for the veteran players :)

To be honest, I'd love for Bungie to use the Y1 planets and areas in a new expansion. Populate them with quest givers, new activities etc. I love the feel and design of the Cosmodrome, why not get the most out of these areas?

The open world stuff in Y1 always felt like it was meant for something other than the boring ass patrols.

I just hope they start fresh on a new base on the current gen consoles. Knowing Activision this probably won't happen and like Jason said we might get another TTK like expansion. I mean I'm fine with it but we deserve better.

the inventory takes longer to load because it is bigger. i'm not sure which part of that you don't understand.

it shouldn't be taking a minute to load every single time unless you're on last gen.

Holy shit I knew PS360 versions of this game were complete ass but it takes a FULL MINUTE to load the inventory? The game is unplayable like that what the hell

No idea.

No idea.

Hmm guess the very first info drop for D2 will make that clear

Thing is that if it's cross gen then it means more of the same but it's its current gen only then we can hope for experiences to have greater scope (Who doesn't want to start a raid by hijacking a cabal transport and crashing that into their mothership?)

If the money from emotes and DLC is being used to fund substantial content and monthly balance updates to this game, who cares?

Fish gotta swim, birds gotta eat. Can't think of any game where i didn't want to buy additional content for it, and that costs dinero to develop. I'm frothing at the mouth waiting for the definitive edition of Ori and the Blind Forest. As soon as it was announced, people said they wanted it to be a free add-on and Moon came out and blatantly stated that they couldn't afford to release that amount of content for free. Game development...how does it work?

Now if all that money was going into Activision's pocket into Destiny 2 and this game didn't receive any substantial updates in the mean time, i call shotgun on the rage train.

Me and you both! I can't wait for Ori DE. They also said it'd be cheaper for those that own the original, I believe. Wohoo

Looking to either join a team for an Oryx kill or start a fresh raid from Totems (I have a CP) up to Oryx. Anybody in?

That's my point. I'm on PS4 and it's taking that long at times, now. It didn't before (AFTER Taken King came out, it was quicker still than it is now).

And we're not talking the Vault, either, we're talking my character sheet menus. It didn't back when I did The Chaperone.

It's not consistent, but ask my raid mates, it can take a bit and it's been taking longer for them, too.

Hard-fought win.
Non-Mercy loss despite losing by 10k points.
Mercy loss.
Mercy rule win.
Non-Mercy loss despite losing by 8k and playing most of the match down 2 players.

Reminds me of Bungie's website.
There needs to be a lite version that only loads 2d icons. I'd switch to that.

Cool. Hard mode of course. Add me on PSN: Mr-Stephen

2 more needed.

I'll add you, but I'll have to drop by Daughters. Only light level 305. HOWEVER, I really want to try and get the gear upgrades to help. Let me know if you'd rather get another :)

could simply be a recent, isolated memory leak of some kind. festival of the lost would be the most likely culprit.

if you have any items from the event in your inventory, try putting them in the vault to see if it loads faster afterwards.
