Here's the match https://www.bungie.net/en/Legend/PGCR?instanceId=4213394574&characterId=2305843009215028629

And what I get in response.

I normally don't give people the satisfaction of responding but this guy pissed me off so much. I'm seriously still angry.

Apologies for shitty offscreen shot. Didn't want to take the time to do it correctly.

What's so bad about being a
pussy
fanny?
They know how to take a beating, I would say that makes them pretty impressive.
That guy clearly is not one, he's just an asshole.

Damn you Destiny. Mercury escapes me yet again. So close, yet so far. </3

*her. She's actually streaming some Trials now, I just tuned in before crashing for the evening. Doesn't look as promising as the two Mercury runs me and Twilight did last week. Help her Twilight-Gap-Kenobi, you're her only hope.

(
Having played with both Ghaz and Rawk, my money would be squarely on Ghaz.
)

I'd watch her play just to hear her laugh. Well that and her comments. ;)

Last night my wife, who doesn't play Destiny or know anything about it, said:

"I don't even have time to explain why I don't have time to explain" as she ran out of the door.

Dialogue redeemed.

My 500 GB PS4 HDD only has 90GB left... Does everyone delete their old games? Or buy a bigger HDD? Can you move games to an external HDD?

I put a 1TB in each at the start, games I will no longer play or have traded I do delete.

Nope. But drive is easy to replace.

Just buy a bigger HD like a Samsung Seagate and replace the 500 GB one. I did this a year ago with a 2 TB Seagate drive in my ps4 and it's best decision I have made for my ps4. Never have to worry about space! It's also really easy to do. Took me about ten minutes top to open system and change out the drives. Now the whole part about transferring games and files over takes the longest but not too bad. PS4 doesn't support external yet.

I bought 2 of these when they were $90 a piece, ripped one apart to use in the PS4, and the other to backup, and transfer.

I then took the hard drive that came out of my PS4, and stuck it in the external hard drive case, and was able to use it as one.

Gutz has got the right idea! I did the same. Bought a 2 TB external, opened up casing carefully, switched out HD's and then took the 500 GB from my ps4 put it in the external casing and then used that for my xbone.

Personally, I wish you weren't given special ammo at the start of matches. I think they should just be pickups, would certainly change the dynamic of the earlier parts of matches.

I think the dominant teams would dominate even more under that situation. Might drive away the more casual playerbase.

Destiny Sandbox Balance - Never.0
Lots of good input

You make some good points, Twilight. I don't agree that reducing the radar will be needed. There are some good techniques to using the large distance as an advantage and it only shows the general area. I used to dislike the radar, but learned that it could be a great tool in multiple ways. Halo 5 already has a butchered radar and I don't want to see that happen in Destiny. The second point I don't agree with is about the TTK. I find it perfect actually. It gives room for all kinds of skill levels to enjoy. Right between CoD and Halo - perfect in my book.

That's a really impressive pussy level.

I maintain that King's Fall is actually a fun and well-designed encounter for the most part, but it is way too unforgiving on HM. If "hard" means "challenge", which it should, then they need to rethink how they give us challenging fights.

As it is, "hard" just means "hope for good luck". As it is, 95% of groups are incapable of continuing a raid after 1 death never mind 2. Making a clutch revive, recovering and regrouping from the brink of defeat.. that is a challenge. Simply restarting every time someone dies isn't challenging, it's tedium.

It's not like Dark Souls where when you died it was because you fucked up and lost focus. I don't mind replaying the same thing over and over in DS because every death is fair. But half or more of the deaths you get on Oryx are completely unpredictable. You can play the EXACT same way, time after time, and one out of every 10 times you'll get killed randomly because two taken knights decided to target you at once, or two Ogres targeted the relic runner when they normally wouldn't. Now multiply those odds of death by six for each fireteam member, and again by four for the four bomb phases, and you end up with a situation where it's extremely difficult to get through the first three phases without someone dying to something out of their control.

I've #teamfirsttry'd it a few times, but due to my time zone I often don't get to play with a lot of Gaffers and I have to go LFG on LFG. Again, I like the raid so it's fun for me to play even if I'm failing, and I take the leadership role most of the time because people just seem so confused on how it works. That's fun to me. But it could be so much betttteeerrrrrr guys just let us fucking revive teammates. Increase the timer or limit revives like Golgoroth I don't care but dying to bullshit and restarting the raid over and over again sucks!

Actually, KF is my favorite raid. I am always down to do it from the beginning and enjoy every fight/puzzle. Yeah hard is punishing, but once people learn to multitask and adapt on the fly when a person dies, there will be wipes. I noticed that as soon as everyone hears "guardian down" people just panic instead of analyzing the situation quickly and subsidizing for the death. Finally, most deaths happen because people aren't paying attention. I tell so many to shoot the acolyte eye with one sniper shot when holding platforms. For most, it becomes too much too juggle and more often than not, that acolyte eye will take someone eye. Guardians have been trained to do one task rigidly when raiding and some have trouble escaping from that mold.

Hard mode requires more coordination, and I like that a lot. It can lead to a ton of frustration with the wrong group, though.

Bought a 2TB hard drive for like $75 from amazon a while ago, more than enough space. I have every single PS+ game downloaded since PS4 launch and a handful of games installed on my HD, and my space is at 1.49TB.

Do it. Crazy easy to replace the HD too, just need to back everything up and then restore (can take a few hours)

I don't know about you guys, but I'm worried as fuck about December's weapon update. I know that Bungie will ruin a weapon class. Have a bad feeling it will be scouts this time and we will also transition shotguns to fusion rifles for PVP lol.

On the positive side, they should adjust the RNG in accuracy for hand cannons, so that's a plus.

Gutz do you know if either of these drives are compatible with your method for PS4 HDD upgrade?

This one should work, but I can't tell you how to open that case, as I am not familiar with it.

The other hard drive is 3.5 desktop hard drive from the looks of it.

As for threads, that is also something I don't keep up with.
I could help you with some of the technical stuff thru PM if you want, but I can't promise anything without doing it my self, so at your own risk if you will.

reduced radar range is to reduce spawn killing and and chasing. 25m is good. I don't know what Destiny is at but it shouldn't be more than 25m.
and it's only the average ttk that would go down because of the movement and aim assist changes. optimal kill times would remain unchanged. i.e. better players get faster kills.

This is the exact guide I followed, look at the first post says "Instructions"

Also, the HD in the OP is the one I'm using.

Pulse rifles will be finished, and people will move to scout rifles. Believe it.

I'd need to see 25m in action, but you may have a good point. In terms of TTK: I misread your point - that is a good idea.

My only concern is for Bungie to not do what H5 did and drive away casual players. Right now, Destiny is keeping (some) competitive folks interested and a lot of casuals are playing as well.

I still haven't gotten a HM Oryx kill. Most of our clan is still below 310 in terms of light (some even below 305). My RNG drops haven't been good either, I am LL 312 on my best char.

Ok when I get to this if I can take of the case easy enough then I might try to clone the drive inside the PS4 using super duper and see if that saves me from redownloading everything...

Ok, let's settle this shit once and for all -
When you're at Oryx, what's the back and front of the room to you?

To me the door I walked in through is the back and where Oryx first comes out is the front. Some people think the opposite though. They're wrong.

Establish that with your group ;)

Destiny requires me to play it once a day to keep my PvP skills up.

While that makes sense, I can't say I like that. Dunno if anyone else has the same issue.

Thinking about it more, I didn't touch Destiny for almost a week... Hmm

You enter into a room through its only door, and you think that's the back of the room? OK then.

Scouts have not regressed one bit and they still aren't the top choice. They need to straight up get rid of the bloom shit on hand cannons. It has no place in this game. It's tacked on to one weapon archetype to curb intuitive use. At the moment you can't shoot stuff at their indicated rate of fire with any kind of accuracy. Complete lunacy. If people are supposed to shoot slower, don't let them. If this slower fire thing is here to stay they need all their range back because that slow fire shit doesn't fly in CQC. If not bump hip fire accuracy, airborne accuracy and smoothly drop off damage. Everything other weapon type does maybe 1 or 2 less damage and then you probably shouldn't shoot anymore. Hand cannons basically hit a brick wall of, "fuck you, too bad."

I want autos to be more deadly in close quarters as well and make fusion rifles less awful. Shotguns are whatever but the main thing that agitates me about them is that you can charge someone and they won't be able to beat you with a primary before you get in range with most weapons. At least if autos can reliably melt someone before they can get in range that'd be something to stave off that idiocy.

I've gotten a strange hate message. It says "enjoy the ToO ban, lag switcher".

Event though I was just playing ToO with LFG randoms to finish some bounties but my connection was unstable lol.
I got called a lag switcher yesterday for having a yellow bar. We wrecked them, so I guess he was upset.

lol most of Destiny's population are casual players. There's no way a nerf to the radar or special ammo is going to scare them off of PvP any more than anything has in the past.

That list wasn't any kind of official thing obviously, and exact values would need to be adjusted where necessary even if it was. Nevertheless, I indeed approached it in a similar manner to Halo 5 in that I'd like to see Destiny open up its gameplay while retaining what makes it unique.

As far as Halo 5 goes, there are a lot more problems with that game contributing to its player retention than its focus on competitive gameplay.

Also, you should not freak out about the impending nerfs, especially to Scout Rifles. There's nothing wrong with Scouts at all. Anything that Bungie messes up will be fixed in the next balance patch circa February.

So overall, yesterday was a pretty good day. The wife and I have been taking a semi-break from destiny. As in, not playing it every single night of the week, and came back yesterday to a nice 6-7 hour session.

To start with we ran some our 3 heroics for the week, trying that new 3oC method.

At the end of the First strike she got a Imago Loop with Firefly. I told her to hold on to it, because she used to love her Fatebringer.

At the end of the Second strike I got a Treads Upon Stars with Third Eye.

At the end of our Third strike, both of our 3oCs worked, and I got a 310 Jade Rabbit, and she got a 310 Light Beyond Nemesis.

So then we jumped into Nightfall, where the wife proceeded to get a Hacksaw with HeadSeaker, High Cal Rounds, and Single Point Sling. I told her to hold on to that one as well.

Afterwards we made it to Mercury with a friend in Trials.

Then we played 4 or 5 PvP games of Rift that went amazingly well.

Overall, I'd say I had a pretty fun weekend. :D

I've just learned to appreciate the casual audience because they keep the game alive and kicking. The super-hardcore play the game a lot, but we don't make the majority. And I just don't trust Bungie with nerfs and how they fix them. Hoping for the best and expecting the worst.

You're right, Halo 5 has a lot of other problems. Anecdotally, there are some people I've talked to that said the game is too hardcore for them.

It just isn't a very good game. The base gameplay is solid, but everything else is either missing or mediocre, as if they focused solely on making it play well and postponed everything else. I find all of the maps abysmal and the matchmaking is not friendly to people searching on their own. The game is severely lacking incentive to keep playing in lieu of these problems, so I'd attribute apathy from the casual audience to that. Reach was awful on launch and still managed to keep people engaged due to Forge, Firefight and a robust progression system. Halo 5 has a few sameay playlists centered aroudn ranks you can't see and uh... Warzone? That was cool for a few days until everyone figured out how to abuse it.

I don't see its "competitive" focus as a problem so much as the lack of providing everything else around it. If it's hardcore in the sense that you have to be a die hard Halo fan to tolerate the trickle of updates, then absolutely. It's only been a few weeks though, so we don't know yet how well it'll hold up over the long term.

If H4 is any indication, then it might not have long legs at all. Maybe they hope that a steady trickle of maps etc for free will give it legs but it's unclear if that will work...

if Forge is as good as it looks, then that'll sustain the customs community for a long time. It'll certainly entertain me for a while.

Haha everyone always calls Oryx side either back or front, that's why I would rather call the 2 halves (spawn and oryx). Even though Oryx moves, he begins and ends there.

Also, it's the same reason for Warpriest I like to say "3rd floor, 2nd floor, 1st floor/middle" but some people can't understand that concept, either. "can you just say left middle and right I don't know how you're getting these floor numbers".
