I stopped using 3oC a while ago. I got 11 weapon and 8 armor engrams in my vault. And no reason to use them other than for exotic shards.

Still missing TG and Tarantalla. Gonna wait for Xur for those... HEAR ME XUR!!!!

No BWU this week sucks. Community is overdue for tending to. We all need vacations, but schedule something canned--anything. Now would be a great time to admit the current endgame needs tweaking, cop to the ridiculous amount of bugs and inconsistency the game has shown lately, and dangle some new content.

Chances are, next week--after this hiatus, even--we won't get any of that. Maybe a vague promise of more to come. Sigh.

Had a half day at work. Let's do some Shaxx bounties in about 20-30 mins from this post. Eating a late lunch.

I've said it before, but I am so sick of people referring to people complaining about Destiny as 'salty'. Mainly on reddit, but it clearly happens here too. Salty implies some level of unjustified-ness to the complaint.

Someone that gets 'owned' in pvp and starts whining afterwards is 'salty'. They simply lost an engagement, but blame it on everything other than the cause. The most recent complaints about Destiny are not 'salt', and nearly every single on of them has been factual, measurable, and legitimate. Calling these people salty is a demeaning way of invalidating their legitimate complaints.
Whoaaaa. Calm down.
Wasn't my intention to diss anyone. No worries. It's just a stupid word. :/

I agree. I think all they have slated for the next BWU is to talk about the Feb update. And with no new big content coming out this year... I may have to take a step back from Destiny. Hopefully next week will prove me wrong.

Prison of Elders was a sore spot for me personally, as I found skolas cheap, and the whole of PoE boring.

Did our times together mean NOTHING to you!?

*sobbing

But seriously, as crappy as PoE could be at times (especially the loot); Me, you, and T-44's thrice weekly Skolas jaunts are one of my favorite year one memories.

Having T44 scrub it up is the only redeeming feature of Skolas.

The strike specific gear would have been great had they actually been Year-One-Great in performance, but bungie wanted to make them extra crappy

To be fair, I see a ton of people grinding for Imago Loop and Grasp of Malok, and the cosmetic stuff for hunters at least (flayer mantles, taniks cloak) are sought after. Not sure if there is anything else people like.

Stupid question: is there any noticeable increase in the damage output during Oryx HM fight as a 320 light level Guardian ? Even if it was minor increase like killing the knights with 1 headshot using a 320 1kys ?

Go away for a bit after lunch and return to people trashtalking Skolas (post-burn).

SKOLAS WAS GOAT!

I'm going to start the Skolas fan club with the Doctor.

Agreed, I liked Skolas, but hated the POE grind for the other bosses especially when I would pair up with randoms that wouldn't diffuse the bombs.

I can agree for Grasp of Malok, but nothing else strike specific can be considered year one great.

I have no issue with people liking "the fight" with skolas after they fixed the burn.
My issue with PoE was the gear, and how boring it got running them over and over.
Even the gear with burns were underwhelming.
Trials year one made up for this though, so it wasn't a complete wast.

All they had to do was add checkpoints to PoE, and Skolas would be the shining example of how end game HARD content can be done right (especially with revives).
That would have helped tremendously. The fatigue built up quite a bit as time went by with people not working together well.
Checkpoints even only at halfway would have make it feel less crappy.

Fun fact, if you ever shoot an enemy and see a white number pop up, it means you are not doing the max amount of damage possible.

If you see a grey number instead of a white number, you are doing the most amount of damage you possibly can do to that target.

The same applies for crits, except yellow, and greyish yellow.

A lot of people are interesting in the Imago Loop and Treads upon stars because they are basically Year 2 versions of Fatebringer and Confluence.

Of course, you still have to pray to RNG that you get the right perks, though.

Skolas is the King of Boss fight Mobility. Both in terms of objectives, but also revives. So many sweaty moments. Big plays. Saving rungs. Everyone using their super in unique ways. I would have run Skolas so many times if it wasn't tedious to get to him.

That said, I didn't think they'd have loot worse than Skolas. But then came King's Fall.

The only way to reliably get Strike Specific loot that is decent at all is to break the game and Kill the boss, suicide, repeat. When you have to go outside of the mechanics to get the gear, then something is wrong.

Skolas is the reason why I hate it when people say that the no-revive mechanic is necessary for HM. Skolas was by far the hardest endgame thing I've done, and we could revive all we wanted. Y2 Skolas with checkpoints and half decent rewards would be amazing.

Just faced Murdaro in Control. Wasn't pretty. But it was fun. No lag, it was beautiful. Guy is no joke.

As I recently posted on Reddit:

The thing is, I'd rather lose 6 straight matches going up against pros than get a curated 1.0 K/D 50win% balanced experience full of lag.
Seriously, lag kills fun. Nothing can make up for lag. No ifs or buts - if your solution implements lag, it's a bigger problem than whatever it's intended to fix.
Skill based matchmaking sounds good on paper for like 2 seconds until you consider the fact that it makes lobbies lag and is thus irrevocably a cancerous decision.

Skill based matchmaking bringing people from Brazil or Russia to make sure their (or my) win% hovers 50 and everyone has a fair match is basically a dumb decision they should kill with fire. Just grab the 12 closest pings, while looking at literally nothing else. That lobby you can then split up into fair teams or whatever. But the criteria to actually enter the pool? Ping should be king.

I really wish they did something with PoE for the TTK. Maybe the Bungie Live team will make a week long event for better rewards using PoE. Because right now, it is pretty useless.

The problem with those in particular is that even with a god roll, hand cannons are still nerfed, and nothing you do to your Treads Upon Stars will ever bring it to the beauty that was VoC.
Current TTK scout rifles(Not Like The Others/Hung Jury, more) already outperform VoC, and would be even more OP if they could have elements.

I still enjoy the game and play it like Ghaleon does for the most part.

I'm kind of glad the endgame doesn't have as long of hooks in me as wow has in the past at points, I have plenty of other games to play and stuff to do.

Dropping into destiny for a spot of pvp, a couple strikes and a story mission every once in a while is nice. I'm looking forward to whatever they put out next.

Hung Jury is way more OP than Fatebringer or Vision. It's like those two guns had a baby. The firefly & ridiculous high impact of Fatebringer and the range and capacity of a scout with Visions stability? At least Fatebringer made me chose to get up close. Hung Jury has no downsides.

I always wished they would have patched in checkpoints. I remember the huge amount of time invested just trying to get to him with my buddies. When things were too heated for far too long and we couldn't advance, it would have easily helped to be able to come back later and try from where we left off.

Maybe they will announce bringing it back on the 21st with a new Taken arena added? One could wish :(

One rage quit in the middle of a 3 hour skolas run, and the other 2 people are just stuck dancing around desperately trying to find a 3rd.

Except for that horrible horrible glare it puts on your screen in certain areas of the game. Mostly Cabal interiors.

Despite how much people like their elements, this isn't a real downside in the vast majority of scenarios. Shields just aren't that common in the game.

Assume for a second you could take your VoC to 320 just like your HJ. You go in to the ultimate PvE challenge in the game, Oryx Challenge mode. The lack of an element will affect you...nowhere. Yeah.

VoG only had Void-shielded Minotaurs, yet everybody used FB or VoC - which might as well have been kinetic given the total and absolute absence of Arc and Solar shields. Same with CE: only shields you ever saw were Solar shields on some Wizards but most people ran with FB or Fang of Ir Yut.

Basically, elements very rarely made any difference outside of NFs in determining whether a weapon was good or not.

Which used to be a big deal and meant chasing these weapons was worth it. NFs are complete garbage now which means no one cares what they use. Everything is the same. Mediocre gear across the board now for the sake of ensuring players play encounters "as intended" and the sandbox is "opened up."

I'm such a lazy bastard that I prefer my trials scout with full auto. Just hold down the trigger baby.

Hung Jury is really nice though. I wonder if someone put some thought into the vendor perks or if that just randomly slipped through the cracks.

But it added so much flavor to the nightfalls.

Instead of "Oh... it's just Shield Brothers again" We'd have "It's Shield brothers with Arc Burn, so you can use this primary, this secondary, and this Heavy."

Now we'll have Elemental burns with Small arms or Specialist, so instead of getting to go into the strike stacked, you go in with the same primary you always do, or 1 of 3 elemental snipers.

Maybe they should have Scout/Auto/Etc. burns. I see "Primary burn" and I don't get excited about using a gun I already use the most. Instead I think "man, shotguns are going to suck this week."

Emptying all 4 Invective shells into a Centurian then getting meleed to death sucks.

fate bringer used to have ridiculous range before they nerfed it

Hell no you didn't have to get close. Fatebringers Range/Accuracy was great in year one. Fatebringer to me feels much more versatile than Hung Jury. When something is up close w/ Hung Jury I feel like I'm caught w/ my pants down. Fatebringer was great at most distances. Also before they nerfed Hand Cannon ammo, w/ Field Scout you never had to worry about FB running out like Hand cannons do now. Outlaw allowed you to play with a confidence and more abandon when shooting because as soon as you heard Kapow just hit square for an instant refill.

On top of all that, Hung Jury takes up way too much of the fucking screen. It's a great weapon for sure, and if I'm not running middle for Oryx it's the primary I use for that encounter, but Fatebringer it is not.

They nailed it with Fatebringer. Nothing else feels better. Wish they would embrace it instead of running from it.

Lol Skolas will feature very highly on my encounter ranking list if/when I ever post it. It's a good counterpoint to the argument people sometimes make about playing an encounter too many times lessening its appeal. I've always found just the opposite: the more I play it the better I understand it, so my opinion gets progressively closer to my "truth."

Atheon, Templar and Skolas have always gotten better with repetition. Playing them with different groups of varying skill levels gives a real appreciation for how thoughtfully designed they are. Crota started dropping within a few days of my first completion, and it's been a precipitous dumpster dive ever since.

Oryx has been a slower and less severe decline, but the gaping holes in its tedious design are impossible to deny now. Warpriest's mediocrity was obvious from the start so it hasn't changed much. Golgoroth has only dropped because the 1 orb strat is so boring and there's no mechanic to prevent or even remotely discourage it. Golgi is still the best KF encounter.

Fatebringer during the days of HoW was god tier. Fatebringer, Black Hammer and Gjallarhorn, nothing else need apply unless it was a NF with Void Burn.

Emptying all 4 Invective shells into a Centurian then getting meleed to death sucks.

Exactly.

The burns used to feel empowering and interesting. Now they all feel restrictive and open to abuse.

Primary burn is a "No fun allowed" modifier because everything sucks but your primary.
Special burn is a "No fun allowed" modifier because everything sucks but your special.

Arc/Void/Sol burn is a "Here is what subclass you will play as" modifier

Grounded is a "No fun allowed" modifier
Airborne is a "Learn to abuse this" modifier

Berserk is a "You now feel weaker" modifier
Exposure is a "Learn to abuse this and kill yourself between larger encounters" modifier.

Ironclad is a "Pray this doesn't conflict with an elemental burn" modifier.
Match Game is a "Pray this doesn't conflict with an elemental burn" modifier.

Lightswitch is a "No fun allowed" modifier because you can't fully engage the encounters.

Trickle is king of the "No fun allowed" modifiers

I approve of the following modifiers
Chaff
Catapult
Brawler

Top Bottom
