Destiny |OT41| Don't Worry, Leave Happy

Nice! I found a good PvP combo with Tier 11. My gloves are shit quality (like 82% at 332) but they're INT / DIS, HC Reloader and Increased Grenade Throw Distance.

I haven't found a single other pair of gloves in Year 2 with that combo yet. I was really hoping for an Armor vendor refresh this update in addition to weapons for a chance at this roll. Oh well.

Yeah, having the right perks was crucial for me. I wouldn't have bothered otherwise (revive super helmet, auto rifle reload + grenade throw gauntlets, arc armor + sniper ammo chest, rocket ammo + last hope boots). I only had one good artifact so everything had to be built around that. Artifacts have by far the most variation and a sufficiently high roll can be hard to come by. Luckily I had enough of the correct gear w/ high stats plus tons of infusion material needed to hit max LL.

We were talking about it in Discord so I wanted to post some details for anyone here who might be curious about these builds. Basically you need to have all gear at 334-335 LL since the stat values will increase as the LL increases via infusion. But the gear itself also has to have a very high stat roll. If you use an app like Tower Ghost it will tell you the potential stat range for each armor piece. But exactly how much stat increase you get from infusion is partially RNG.

A LL300 piece might say 90-95% which means that if you infused it up to 335 the stats will reach somewhere between 90-95% of the maximum possible amount for that gear slot. For example, ghosts and class items can have 60 total points max (35 + 25), but they'll need to both have a high percentage and be 334-335 LL to reach that. Make sure you only infuse up gear that has very high percentages, since this will be necessary to hit tier 12. My tarantella build has a 97% helmet, 98% gauntlets, 97% chest, 99% boots, 100% ghost, 100% class item, and 97% artifact. Even with those high rolls all at LL335, I only had 8 "excess" points (303 INT / 300 DIS / 125 STR).

Therefore the last trick is to make sure you hit the right thresholds without much excess. I was locked into using my artifact and exotic chests, so I picked the other gear slots that could cleanly add to 120 for STR. A helmet spec'ed for your desired tier 2 stat will be 60+ points, combined with the ghost and class item where one is spec'ed and the other is not (35 + 25) hits the 120 threshold perfectly. Another good combo is boots not spec'ed (50+) plus the ghost and class item both spec'ed (35 + 35). You should be able to find a winning spec for the rest of your gear to hit the two tier 5/5 thresholds, as long as it's all high percentage and high LL.

Anyway, hope this makes sense for anyone OCD enough to bother chasing tier 12 builds.

I'm starting a Flawless Raider group on Xbox One for this coming Saturday. I will put a link to the game on the100 below. In a nut shell, we'll be running normal Crota's End and will take any help that we can get. I need both an experienced sword bearer and someone familiar with legitimate Crota's End strategies. It's been so long since I've done it that I can't remember some of the finer details. The game is open to anyone on GAF and if we can make it all GAF, even better. Here's the link!

Can't join this weekend, but did HM Crota several weeks ago and the only time anyone died was at the bridge. We weren't trying for flawless, but from the bridge onwards it was very straightforward.

Great post Drizz!

I wonder if for Sept expansion they're going to raise the threshold to get Tier 5 cooldowns, otherwise if they increase LL to like 350 or 365 eventually we will be able to nearly max all stats.

I don't know whether or not I'll be available Saturday but if I am then I can definitely help with both the sword bearing and the legit strat explanations. It's been months since I did a flawless CE, but I've done 30+ flawless runs in my days so it shouldn't be too hard to remember the details. Honestly it's really easy. I can solo Abyss, we can either do Bridge legit (if we have full team) or cheese it (I can sword across if others can climb the Tower). Then the Shrieker hallway, Deathsinger and Crota are pretty straightforward.

The most common place people die is at the Bridge because it's the most complicated encounter. Second most common is Deathsinger just because there's so much trash and sometimes people panic about the timer countdown. Crota is usually smooth unless somebody just gets nervous because it's at the end. The great thing about CE flawless is that it only takes ~5 minutes to solo Abyss if someone dies at Bridge, or ~15-20 minutes to get back to Crota if you die there. No big deal.

Yeah it's mainly the bridge that I'm concerned with, but any other guidance from pro's would be helpful. Like I said, it's been so long since I've done it (I ran Crota's End regularly when it was the thing to do) that I don't feel confident in my ability to lead the group alone. I'll take all the help that I can get from GAF.

Really, really loving the Universal Remote + invis combo in Trials, really easy Mercury run again tonight. Pretty surprising after months of inactivity.

More UR carnage right now at:
twitch.tv/shijierui (watch us get rekt)

Red Spectre is the worst autorifle archetype for PVP.

Vanquisher is slightly better, but not by much.

Wait a second:

I was using Antipodal Hindsight, and it was complete garbage. Red Death seemed so much better. Is the impact number still a lie?

So then what is the best Auto to use in PVP?

Doctrine of Passing with Counter Balance is the hype right now. Arnimus D is another good one.

Git gud? Don't die? :p
jk but really as soon as you feel death creeping up, run away and abuse the supers, hunter cloaking, etc

I would love to lose to someone doing that. A lot more interesting than getting sniped.

You should've seen Blaze and me rush in a card earlier, it was glorious. Agree though, can't be bothered with 5 minute rounds, shotgunning is too much fun! Though really, only viable with invis.

Low impact / fast firing auto rifles are way better. They're just hard to control, which is why you want them to have Counterbalance and as much stability as possible.

Played about ten crucible matches to rank up and the postgame drops are still complete garbage. I saw maybe two drops across all those games including all my teammates.

Never doing that again.

The best part is that Trials and Iron Banner don't drop the crucible exclusive stuff.

I thought snipers got nerfed? I fired up the game over the weekend for the first time in a long time and tried out some PvP. Got destroyed just as much as before by snipers. Guess the changes to the scope did nothing :(

Yeah, they're as good as ever.

Red Spectre is in the Hakkon's Hatchet archtype, which I thought was still pretty good. I thought the high impact was the current worst.

Stop shitting on my team. Start shitting on my finger.
I'm super late with these responses but if you guys still want to either (1) run Trials together or (2) have me play your account for flawless then just let me know. You, or anyone else, can shoot me a PM if you have questions or anything. If you just want me to run your account then you can PM me your info.

@Smiley: I just use whatever guns each person has when I play their account. I prefer Doctrine/sniper/Truth but it's not a big deal. I just made do with whatever is on that account, that's honestly the main challenge of playing other accounts.

Has anyone gotten flawless with only the lvl1 starting weapon? :D

haha ummm... probably? back in year 1 I bet it worked okay with the whole LL thing wasn't as big a deal and you just had character level and then Atk rating of each weapon. Honestly I assume somebody did it back in Yr 1. I know people who used white snipers and rocket launchers in Trials, lol.

Gonna log in later and I think I'm going to try my best for flawless ToO. Went once in Y1 but haven't really put much effort in Y2. I just want it to be on my list of triumphs when we reach Y3 lol.

On another note, the DO exotic class item spawn thing is underwhelming lol. Back to NM.

Sounds like you need a new challenge. Maybe drag a 313 through trials? I "have a friend" that could use some new gear.

Honestly I'd rather get there myself but I dont think even a carry will get me there on this map. Maybe on another haha. But I definitely want it to be done before Destiny 2/3/whatever

Hype went flawless yesterday with his team using 3x Thorn. Some guys are just out to make opponents rage :p

Whoa. Both guys I played my VERY FIRST trials with right when it released! And yall posted back to back haha what's up!

Remember I didn't have enough passage coins so I was 1 win away when yall got the full 9 wins and we had 1 loss on the card. Yall came back to me after the reef, we lost the next match so my card was 8-2 and we won the final match. And no Mercury opened up for any of us and we found out that final win was worthless hahaha

5-5-1 Hype on my Hunter on XB1.

My Pulse reload are Disc/Str and my AR reload is int/disc so I have to use the Doctrain for this build.

Also using ugly helm but i don't care

Or I can go 3-4-4 NS with my baby pulse

BIG PLAYZ.

Thanks to Drizz showing me the DIM extension with the % of max possible roll. That's HYPE

Edit, nevermind.. Switchblade is just poorly worded. It decreases cooldown between successive melees.

The way back machine in full effect! I had forgotten what GFDon's gaf tag was. Those were the good old days when noobs played trails and I had a chance.

Durden and Phen0m...I could definitely use an escort through this CoE thing. Honestly, I don't even know what it is...
