Destiny |OT42| Embrace the Not-Knowing

Dont remember where I read/heard it, but I think they mentioned that we can only carry so many keys (I think it was 5). So we cant really hoard those things like Strange Coins.

Yeah, but if you get 5 from the nightfall and a few heroic strikes, you can then go whip through Undying Mind from the director at level-whatever-it-is 5x in search of Imago Loop (and get a seaweed butt-towel each time).

Anybody on Xbox wanna run some stuff later? [...] Won't be home till 9est, but anytime after should be fine.

Will probably be on. Unless I fall asleep like an old man.

That's why they introduced the gold bounties, kind of like a way to welfare into the trials gear. The only thing you'll be locked out of is the adept weapons and ornaments that make the armor glow.

The adept weapons is still the part that pisses me off. Elemental damage doesn't mean shit in PvP, so why lock them behind the Trails wall?

Y2 Adept weapons only had the Last Resort perk as a bonus, no elemental damage, and were colored black and yellow instead of yellow and black. Literally only bragging rights.

Also, all of the Y1 elemental adept weapons were garbage in PvE. I still kept the void scout, solar hand canon, and arc AR and Messenger of course.

LOL, see how often I got an adept weapon.

Any weapon with a burn was good in PVE.

The Y2 weapons were garabage though for sure, aside from the doctrine. Here's to hoping they fix that for Y3, the weapons look unique and cool this time around.

Here's my recommendation for Trials:

- When you get booted for ANY reason in the middle of the match, you should be allowed to rejoin, period.
- Do away with Passage Coins, they are really dumb.
- Make who you play against random i.e. revert back to year 1 Matchmaking
- Spruce up the mode. Specifically, change Overtime rules, penalize campers in some way (shortening the time, or having a debuff, etc), alternate spawns in asymmetrical maps.
- Change up the maps. The sun is stupid in Burning Shrine. Overtime point should be moved to a central location that makes camping a lot harder e.g. for Asylum, the point should be in water or middle next to tree, NOT in the Fortress that is B point. Frontier, there needs to be an invis wall above the bridge so you can't even go there.
- A random thought that might be fun for Trials: Lock in your subclass and loadout so you can't change once a pair with another team is successful. This will likely never happen, but I think it could be interesting.

Crucible should also go back to Year 1 CBMM, and then have a separate mode for Ranked/SBMM.

The Tamarind with prox was good before they nerfed it down to 2 rockets even with boots. RIP.

To ltwood and T44:

Just wanted to say that I had fun last night in Trials despite the failure. Thanks guys. Shame I didn't get my cloak, but I got an Arachnid helmet that I will probably never use!

You're a good dude. I played like absolute crappola. Fun time though. Thanks!

I had a great time as well..I also played like crap but that is par for me in pvp but I've gotten to where I like playing trials whether I'm being carried and winning or just playing for fun with fun guys and losing

All great ideas.

What would you think of 3 strikes and you're out and get rid of mercy entirely? Too easy? I just feel like they should loosen it up a bit to maximize the audience and fun factor. Let the sweatiest of the community fight it out for dominance in private matches/tourneys.

I really hope to see sidearms buffed, seems all other special weapons are strong but the sidearm is the red headed stepchild.

Mah man! I got chewed up on Reddit for even suggesting this. Got called s scrub and all that lol. That Destiny sub Reddit is truly poison sometimes.
You forgot to put the removal of Heavy Round in Trials on that list as well. =p

I think all 3 boons should either be automatic once you purchase the card, or if they dont want to get rid if the coins: just cost 1 coin each, while each loss gives 1 coin and each bounty gives 1 coin. Everything costing 3 coins each while only getting between 1-3 is really dumb.

Also, fix the indicator for the Mercy.

No heavy would be nice, but I don't see that happening. I'd love for it to get removed from Trials.

I wouldn't mind, but I don't think they're bad now. There's just no 'wow' to them like the other three types of special weapon.

I'd like to see a fully or semi-auto sidearm.

They're already semi-automatic.

I would like to see a harder-hitting, smaller magazine one— like a special-slot hand cannon.

Really? I still use the Vestian Dynasty in PvP and it seems to rack up the kills fairly quickly.

4-body shots for a kill. Don't like that it's not hitscan, though.

Any Xboners here still need to to CM Orxy? Trying to put a run NM run together, I've got a couple guys who are down to help.

Don't need it but happy to help. Think Hippo Avenger and Oblivion need it.

Here is my recommendation for trials.

1. Once attained flawless once in a week you can continue on that card to be matched against other flawless people. With an increased chance at higher light level loot to drop post match.

2. Or you can gett a fresh new card, however you lose an ability. You get the choice of melee, grenade, super. Make it to mercury again and you get an emblem

3. If you run a 3rd card for a 3rd flawless then you lost another ability, and finally for 4th flawless run you only have weapons no abilities. Reward for 4 flawless runs with these handicaps would be an exotic emblem and a choice of armour or weapon drop that will improve your light level.

My thinking behind this is that the handicaps will offer greater bragging rights if you can attain flawless and it will help retain some of the more casual playerbase because if they come up against a team of 2000+ ELO players although they will still be likely to get destroyed they will have a better chance now of stealing a few rounds.

But the ultimate change has to be pure cbmm. Perma bans for ddos'ers and longer bans for lag switchers

I noticed a Destiny Collection is coming out soon - if I already own vanilla Destiny, is there an option for me to buy all the DLC to date for it?

The Collection would be your best bet, rather than getting the Taken King Legendary edition and then Rise of Iron.

I think the cheapest option is to get TTK Legendary Edition for $20 which includes all the DLC up to RoI, and then RoI standalone for $30, assuming NA. If you want to wait til the 20th and have Prime or GCU, then The Collection for $48 will be your best bet. If you get The Collection digitally($60) or TTK LE, you can play all the DLC now instead of waiting.

Do people understand that Bungie wants boons to be expensive? That they don't want a lot of people reaching Mercury and getting the rewards? They've said this! Argue about their shitty attitude first.

Agree at all points. Doubt we will ever see Y1 MM though, they were sadly pretty clear they like the new system on many interviews :(

Yesterday I replied to a post on LFG.net from a guy looking to carry folks to the lighthouse.

He invited me to a party, there were like 10 people in it and he started explaining how him and his two buddies just need to hop onto our accounts and take them to the lighthouse. I immediately left the party lol

Ya, I think Bungie's biggest fear is that people will clear content too quickly, and that they will stop playing the game, which is why they have added so many carrots on a stick for players to chase. The disadvantage to this approach is that the majority of people never see the inherent fun of the game so they get bored once they have gotten all the carrots and cleared all the content and never see the inherent fun of the game. I think I have said this about a thousand times, but it still seems relevant.

I agree 100%

Bungie should be always looking maintain/increase the fun and avoid the casino-style psychological bullshit.

The god-tier gameplay of this game is sufficient to draw people in. Keep them playing with tons of in-game rewards. Like purple loot dropping the way blues do now.
