Destiny |OT43| Just What the Doctor Ordered

Mrs. Harvey
Thanks for tagging along. Don't think we could get any worst rewards.

I'm at the point where every single special and heavy I get is dismantled. Everything 400 for them. Same goes for gear. Only a few primaries left which I don't use anyway before every single thing I have is 400. Only things left for me are ornaments.

I have a bunch of leveled up exotics that I don't use but I don't want to dismantle and I don't want to spend exotic shards to level them up to 400. So they take up space in my over full vault. All my gear otherwise is 400 and lots of infusion fuel too.

Anyone willing to help my brother put in the code for step 6 for outbreak prime? If you completed the quest as a hunter or Titan you can help us. PSN pikapuff

Finally got Comitatus last night at rank 73. Had read that it can drop from Chroma packages.......opened 1st Chroma package and BOOM it dropped.

I can finally rest.

Sorry for calling it a day yesterday.

I´m sure our group would have gotten it done eventually, but I think we were still at least 1 hour away from victory.

I´m holding on to the CP - might give it a shot tomorrow.

I got 398 Ghost and Artifact, plus 399 Hunter cape from the Forge yesterday. It was enough to raise my light level to 396, and gave me a reason to keep on playing the game for now. I imagine it'll be a pain in the ass to try to get the rest of the gear to those levels though.

Oh well, at least I'll finally get the Dark Drinker with the Warlock. Dunno if I want to gather the materials for the rest of the swords. Are the materials you get from finding engrams with the Ghost perk counted? If so, it probably wouldn't take long to gather Spinmetal for one of them.
I "cheated" the PVP part of the quest early on this year, when two of my friends just let me kill them with the sword. Luckily, I could skip doing it the way it's supposed to, since I don't like to play PVP.

Or completely trivial if you join up any of the gaf raids looking for people all the time.

The thing is, I prefer to play without scheduling, when it suits me, and since communicating with headset is crucial, I feel like the language is a barrier. Not a huge one, since I can speak English, but the communication naturally goes better with your native tongue. Especially in the heat of the action.

Unfortunately, we don't seem to find a time that suits everyone in my local group. The last time we couldn't finish the Raid before the weekly reset due to scheduling issues. It just felt like a waste of time to spend the whole evening for nothing, and I find the whole process just too much of a nuisance.

You don't need to schedule anything, pop in here when you feel like raiding and see if people are around, nothing more. There used to be raids at all times of day over weekends. Fewer now, but still easy to pick up a group. As for language, you're making mountains out of molehills. Some guys I know play with an Italian dude that refuses to speak and only listens in party chat. They still do perfectly fine. And by now, everyone knows the mechanics inside out, which reduces the required communication bandwidth to the bare minimum. But, I mean, if you'd just rather keep complaining about how hard it supposedly is to rank up, by all means, suit yourself.

What's with the tone? I don't think anything I posted warranted a response like that. Seems like some veterans take any kind of complaints about the game personally.

Everyone don't know the mechanics as well as the regulars on this thread. I, and some in our local group, haven't been able to finish the Raid even once. Partly because some in the group are bartenders, who work on nights and weekends. Not to mention, that I usually don't have the time to play on weekends, since that's when I spend time with my girlfriend.

Oh lol, I'm hardly a veteran of anything, and I sure as hell don't care to defend this game. Point is, it's fairly straightforward to get to 400 when one doesn't create artificial barriers.

Cool, looking forward to more complaints about how hard it is to rank up.

It might be more straightforward if you play PVP, and have time to play Raids on weekends, or whenever you will. Some of us don't, and they aren't artificial barriers. Everyone doesn't have the same situation as you do, which you seem to be incapable of understanding.

I suggest putting me on ignore, it'll save us both the trouble.

Strikes are your best option outside of raids. Skeleton keys are rare but once you have one check out the chart from Reddit to see which slot(s) would be the biggest upgrade and do that specific strike. You should also use 3oC (if you have them) while running strikes to get exotics that have a chance to drop at a higher LL.

The only way to get the materials is to loot the actual nodes (spinmetal, relic iron, sprit bloom, helium) when running around on patrol. They won't drop from the chests or by using the ghost. It's arguably the worst quest in destiny but there are a couple ways to make it go slightly quicker.

First, when farming for materials, you can use the zoning trick to keep tapping the same node over and over again. They are still pretty rare, but it will decrease the time spent running around looking for nodes - especially if you arent that familiar with where they spawn. Also, since you already have Dark Drinker you can skip the PvP and ability kill parts for the other swords by transferring the legendary one to your Warlock and filling out all the upgrade bubbles. This starts the quest at the material farming section skipping the other parts.

Lastly, I know you said you don't care for PvP but Iron Banner is great for boosting your LL. The rewards are pretty generous and drop randomly so you don't even need to do that well to get loot. There are usually a few GAF trains so you could hop on one and have a better chance at winning matches and ranking up.

I don't care about a silly ship that isn't going to make it into D2 Ruthless. My only regret is wasting so many materials trying to get it.

I'm really not sure this comment helps at all...but the materials probably won't carry over either!

Part of what I really enjoyed about D1 was knowing that I was accumulating stuff and would have a "history" with my character. It might sound weird but I was looking forwards to being in year 10, looking back at some year 1 VoG weapons and going "holy crap - look how much we've done and how far we've come!"

I really really hope they keep kiosks, or memorials or something...if D2 just looks and feels like a completely new game then I may not get into it.

Yeah nothing is going to carry over except maybe some emblems. That is the safe assumption to make. I've been making for a while now. Please give us a fresh start.

If that's the case I want a meta-emblem for doing everything in Year 1-3 i.e. getting moments of triumph in all 3 years.

Then I'll only need one really.

It could be pure black, to mourn the passing of D1.

Are there any raids, strikes, or missions I should focus on as a titan defender? I'd like to acquire the most ideal gear. I'm approaching 280 light and almost ready for Rise Of Iron.

Nothing specific that I can recall. A god roll Imago is nice, but so rare that it's not worth grinding. The single most helpful piece of gear (imo) is still going to be the Slightly shorter matches being possible is a good thing don't always have the time to play out the super long ones. Edit: Are they replacing the old one?[/QUOTE]"]Helm of Saint 14. Twilight Garrison is nice, but Saint 14 is of greater benefit.

They obviously forgot to mention the Doctrine of Passing in the Kotaku article.

Either way, everyone likes year 1 better because it WAS better and we're NOT reminiscing on it too much like Datto says, it's a fact. I pretty much agree with Triple and SirD. I'm glad they mentioned verticality and skill gaps.

However, I don't think Rusted Lands is the best map lol.

Burning Shrine would be great if it weren't for the sun (they didn't mention that). So Exodus Blue, Cauldron and Anomaly will forever remain my favorite 3 maps.

Thanks a lot for the tips!

I'll have to try the zoning method for materials, and check what strikes are best for a specific gear. That would help to increase the chances of getting the one I need. At the moment I've got most of the gear at 396, so it doesn't matter what the key chests give, as long as it isn't Ghost, Artifact, or class item. ;)

I've also saved five exotic engrams I've received with ToC for later, as there's no point to use them now for the same level gear I'm already at.

All three exotic sword quests are past the PVP part with my Warlock. I still have to gather material for the Sol and Arc ones, and do the strike for Void that just opened up for me today. Hopefully I can get a couple of my friends to help with it.

I'll have to pass on the PVP suggestion. It just isn't my cup of tea. We have another PVE-only guy in our group, and the rest can't seem to understand why we don't want to play PVP with them. =) Unfortunately, that probably means I won't reach level 16 in the book, and get the ROI class items. I'm currently just below 12, with one node done from the Raid section. I imagine getting more of them would mean playing the Raid through several times?

Would love to do the WoTM HM CM tonight. Anyone down (~7PM eastern)? Randoms on LFG for CM is excruciating. Help me GAF.

I'm interested in this if a group gets together. I haven't really run with GAF people before, but I've done HM and the other CM. Happy to do just the challenge or the whole thing.

For those farming mats specifically for the exotic swords: Void Hunter is pretty nice with enhanced tracking but if not using that class:
1) enhanced tracking relic helps
2) ghost with material trackers
3) use a sniper rifle and zoom in over the landscape and you will see pop ups of spawns that might not be in your immediate vicinity (assuming you are using a ghost with a material tracker).

Combo of 2 and 3 is how I got mine done. Also best idea is to try to get all swords to the strike part at the same time as you can conceivably get all three done in one strike (I got 2 and then the one...idiot on first strike burnt down the arc guy because he didn't realize how the quest worked).

Can anyone do the raid on hard with me? I'm 390 light and haven't done it yet but I have an idea of what to do and know normal mode very well. PSN is HazardousHalo.

BWU is up

Nothing in the way of actual news, but it's nice to see the sentiments from those who toil away at our favorite thing to complain about. :p

Okay. I'm having trouble getting into groups on LFG because I haven't done it yet so I'm hoping a group from here can get me in. :p

I dont mind. LFG this week will be hard for first timers because people want to do the Aksis challenge which is hard as fuck.

If we can get 4 more I dont mind playing and letting you know the changes between normal and hard.

I'd be up for a fresh raid if there's enough people to start a run in the next hour. Don't really care about CM, but don't mind doing that if people need it.
