Destiny |OT44| A Community in Discord

I finally got Fatebringer (both Adept and Legendary) from a VoG run just now!

I never managed to get the Year 1 Fatebringer despite completing many VoG runs, so I'm ecstatic to finally get it after listening to everyone else rave about it for years!

I feel like they've actively been trying to prevent people from using them at least to their full potential. Heroics/Nightfalls always have specialist or airborne to subtract damage from the primaries.

I have a feeling Destiny 2 is going to be a lot more different than a lot of us think so this might not matter in the long run but let's just say some things carry over/stay very similar to how they are now, I hope they would at least make changes like...

1 - While having playlists for nearly all game modes is great at least have random game/difficulty modifiers or randomly selected presets of modifiers before each match/strike/whatever instead of making it weekly (which becomes boring after a while). You can still have your Weekly Nightfall-like activities with preset modifiers but just make it a true endgame-like event.

2 - Allow custom games across more game modes (strikes, story missions, etc) that allow the player to choose the difficulty modifiers, light level, etc.

3 - Keep traditional playlists for all game modes that keep the original version intact (no difficulty modifiers, burns, etc) for players who just want to experience that version but have different difficulties that play out similarly to the Halo's Normal, Heroic, and Legendary setup.

...for me, these are almost simple must haves in a game that ask you to repeat content over and over and over.

Which leads me to the topic that is Bungie's biggest challenge in how to keep old content seem somewhat fresh and interesting to play long after it's introduction while constantly (I say constantly but what I mean is more frequently and significantly than what we got previously up to this point) feeding the content hungry player-base with new stuff to do as well.

IMHO the structure of Destiny 2 will be quite different from 1. They seem to like the planet map director, so I suspect that will stay.

I'm interested how they differentiate between a "traditional" solo campaign, and repeatable stuff like strikes and crucible.

The problem with any campaign is that it can't change the world significantly because some players need to see the same area before and after the change. World changes happen quite slowly, timed with dlc's, rather than quickly per story mission.

I'm also interested how they mix up people on story missions, strikes , and raids, in the same physical game area.

Instantly joining fireteams would make such a difference to this.

I also expect the base game to be super tight with loot. Similar to vanilla Destiny. The hype of getting to 30 or getting a ghorn, is still unmatched. (I never managed either).

Edit - a proper horde mode, or a score attack mode that matters, would help a lot. Imagine an emblem for highest weekly score on the nightfall!?

damn I was just thinking about that today. I still haven't received anything. Hopefully I'll get my email soon.
it also said 4-6 weeks and its now been 8.

Apparently the molds were delayed, I got an email from Bungie a while back stating that.

Dear Guardian,

Thank you for your ThreeA Bungie Store Edition Guardian figure order. We have good news to share. We're on schedule and the figures have shipped from the factory overseas to the United States. Between now and the next 4-6 weeks, you'll be receiving an email confirmation with your tracking number and your order will be en route to the address you provided on your order.

The factory completed the Hunter figures first, and they will be shipping to customers before the Warlock figures. If you ordered both the Hunter and Warlock figures in one order, you'll receive the Hunter figure prior to receiving the Warlock figure and you will not be charged twice for shipping.

If your address has changed since you placed your order last year, please email orders@bungiestore.com with your order number and request to update to your new address.

Please direct all questions or concerns to orders@bungiestore.com and we will respond as quickly as possible.

Thank you!

My USPS shipment notification says scheduled delivery for tomorrow :D
gotta love living in washington state lol

We just barely got modifiers on heroics like, last year and they just barely introduced weekly rolls on vendor weapons.

It's not a good sign.

Of all the things in Destiny, I hated trying to rush through the story the most. Getting all three characters to race past all the enemies, and finish it as fast as possible, was a chore, and very boring to me. I hated it.

I found joy in everything else. I just really found the SP to be very tedious, and its something I just wanted to get done so I never have to see it again, so i can raid and play strikes.

In my mind, the Destiny 2 map director is something you can bring up at absolutely any time. Rather than going back to orbit, you just press a button while on a planet to look at the map and then decide where you want to go.

Icing on the cake would be that, if you are in a social area, your ship would appear in the sky above you and you would "teleport" into it. Everyone else in the area would also see this happen.

Because that "hype" was actually just "hate" due to the poor design decision.

That and you don't need to go to a hub to pick up bounties or transfer weapons. Everything is just accessible on the fly.

Yeah, I really hope Bungie can get me to care about the story in 2.

Doing the story in a Fireteam makes it a bit more enjoyable.

Yeah, I dread replaying most of the vanilla story missions. I only played the Story Playlist just long enough to complete that part of the AoT quest, then never touched it again.

To Bungie's credit, I think the story missions started getting a lot better starting with HoW, but they're still my least favorite thing to do in Destiny. Solo, anyway. They can be a lot of fun with other players. Which makes it a shame that there's no optional matchmaking for story missions.

This makes me wish we had a random story playlist that would matchmake in players.
Give it strike scoring too.

Speaking of which, I hated that I had to constantly go speak to someone in the tower or the reef, and interrupt the goddamn story line that I was desperately just trying to finish.

I think house of wolves was horrific or maybe it was a different expansion one of them was really bad at this.

Taken King introduced the Questing system and pretty much after every mission you had to talk to someone at the Tower. It felt revolutionary at the time, but I can't imagine doing it again on a fresh character :/

I had hoped for this for a while. But I think the main problem with the idea is that the daily story does not require PS Plus or XBL Gold. And Bungie doesn't want to make things complicated by having separate playlists.

Nah vanilla Destiny did that shit too. You still had to go back to the Tower constantly to talk to people to progress, it just didn't have the fancy Quest menu and HUDs.

Defender team is really unstoppable. Have two with saint helm. Have two with armamentarium. Let those two chuck grenades all day and have another two with alpha lupi for more orbs. Non stop bubbles and grenades. Outer bubbles with weapons, inner with armor.

Mayhem Clash is good for some fun every now and then, but I have my reservations about it being the Iron Banner game. Not that my opinion really matters, I barely even participated in the last few Iron Banners.

Although, now that school is out and I'm in-between jobs, I might just end up playing a bunch of IB anyway...

D1 is on it's way out, so I'd rather they try to have some fun with IB in the meantime, especially since IB just takes over one of the slots now.

I picked a bad week to level my lone PS4 character considering the modifiers on the Heroic Strike playlist, it just ain't worth it, yikes. It doesn't help that every time I matchmake I get two other players in the 300-320 LL range.

Did the Khvostov and Gjallarhorn quests and got to 350 LL overall at least.

Edit: And while leveling up new characters is fun to a certain extent this experience is giving me pause in whether or not I'll get Destiny 2 on both Xbox and PC, I would love an option to have your characters cross-over no matter the platform.

Edit 2: Ran a couple Heroic Strikes this morning, was actually matchmaked with two other players in the 350s LL, and went from 350-to-356 which is more like it.

It's still daunting to play on two platforms if, say, you want the Sleeper, the Raze-Lighter/Dark-Drinker, etc.

The modifiers are awful this week for both. Could still speed run CoE* but doing a card for guns/armour seems like a chore with trickle & super kill bonus.

*except I'm at work for at least a few more hours.

Oh god yeah I just checked those are awful. I'll just stick to heroics I think haha.

I have to say, I really love this community. I'm running the old raids again for the first time since year one and have had a ton of luck grouping up with people on the100.io. Just ran Vault of Glass and the group showed a ton of patience running the Challenge Mode. I was lucky enough to get the Mythoclast, along with Timepiece and Vision adepts and the Titan helmet - basically entirely do to the kindness and patience of strangers from the community.

This game is incredible.

That's awesome! I'm going to have to try the100.io rather than what I'm using now.
