DestinyGAF Clan -> Request thread

A little off topic, but reviewing my Bungie account it doesn't show any Alpha activity or part of redeemed codes. I am assuming none of that saved to our Bungie accounts?

You alpha account / clan is completely seprate to the bungie.net account. the alpha.bungie.net site is it's own entity.

Apparently he is just a placeholder. PsychoRaven is the real leader of that group. I PM him 3 hours ago. Waiting for a reply.

Edit: but I will give Valentinus a PM. Just to try and talk this out.

Ok good. I just don't want us all fighting over this. Its a little childish. We all want to be part of DestinyGAF. Hopefully we can figure this all out. Bungie should have given us more concrete details about the groups/clans thing so we wouldn't be in this situation. The Alpha was capped at 500 people per clan if I remember right. That is why I assumed there was a cap in the retail release as well.

Ok, so what is your argument against having one DestinyGAF group with multiple sub divisions. It seems that this is the was Bungie has designed their group / clan system to work.

So within one group there will be different platforms, and within the different platforms there will be different groups for different regions and then for different game types

Definitely more complicated.

Most of the arguments I have seen have been around ownership, especially by PsychoRaven and his claims of "theft"

Where exactly is the discussion taking place ?
Mostly in his head.
No need to be assholes.

There was already a DestinyGAF group before you two made this one on your own. This caused confusion, and this confusion has been expressed by me and other Gafers. I tried to have some sort of discussion with you, but so far the reply has been basically 'Yeah, but I like it this way.' while that same 'vision' was already possible within the existing group. Jburton, you have said something in the vein of 'Well, but that DestinyGAF wasn't discussed with us, so it's unfair' a couple of times now, yet you and Shadownet continue to run this splintered-off group without any discussion or room for criticism.

However noble the intent was at first, this group has been and still is the cause of confusion and there is clearly no consensus on how DestinyGAF will be run. A disclaimer on the top of the OP to bring this across would do no harm at all.

You guys need to get your feet on the ground.

I agree. I'm trying to resolve this as well.

I created this group because I wanted a place for PS4 players can meet other players of the same platform. Easier to manage.

Most online games I play have a cap on their clan/group as well.

I would create a Group for other system as well but I think it would be best to wait for someone to step up and do it themselves. But not until we figure this umbrella or no umbrella group thing out.

No. Bungie has said all in game content is the same between platforms. So you have one Strike discussion subgroup regardless of platform. One raid subgroup for all platforms, one story subgroup and so on.

Then you have platform specific subgroups for partying up.

The way you are going to have to approach it with separate PS4 platform group, and subsequent Xbox One group, 360 group, and PS3 group is that each would have their own strike subgroup, all discussing the same content, but split apart from each other. It just doesn't make sense.

We need to get this ownership thing out of everyone's head. This isn't a normal clan. Its a neogaf clan. whoever makes a DestinyGAF clan is just a representative of DestinyGAF. Someone else would have made it if you didn't make it first. We all need to come together and figure out what were gonna do. Maybe you guys could agree to make the leaders of the separate group admins in the group we all decide on. Then they would still have some control if that is what were fighting over.

Edit: Can we pm that guy from Bungie who explained stuff on that one neogaf thread? We really need some info about this. Maybe Bungie would be willing it give us the details we need. They could outright tell us which group would be the best choice.

I was not intending to be an "asshole" by asking a simple question, I was wondering if there was a current discussion taking place.

I have expressed my feeling in a post just a few before this one, one group split into platforms, split into regions and then split under game types is a clusterfuck greater than separate groups by platform.

There is plenty of room for criticism, plenty has been cast.

So non gaffers can't join? What if I give my blessing

I states in the OP. Once most Gaffers have joined. If we still have room. I will open this up for non-gaffers to join as well.

I already have a couple people PM me about that. I'm just waiting.

You are splitting people up way more by having platform specific groups.

On the other hand players are segregated by platform in so much as that is who they will play with, interaction with non PS4 players within the clan / group doesn't make sense.

Discussion threads for general chat across platforms makes more sense.

What yours saying doesn't make sense.

If you have 1 strike group regardless of platform. That will get confusing really quick in that thread/group. Half the people will be asking ps3 players to join. The other half Xbox one players. Etc.

The way we do it here will be. strike thread. Crucible thread. Roaming thread. Different time zone threads. That is it.

Sorry.. I must have requested to join a different group. Have just followed the link in OP and sent a join request to this one.

Bungie: Psychic Pilot

This. I don't mind if we have General all purpose Destiny thread on here to talk about everything Destiny related. But if we try to do that on the forum. It will get tangled real fast, especially with no platform sepratation.

We'll have a East thread, West thread... Crucible thread, strike Thread, etc.

Ok well I'm playing the beta on PS3 and the full game on PS4 so I'll just wait to join whichever group with my friends.

Sounds good. If you plan on playing Destiny on PS3. May I suggest taking the initiative and create a, DestinyGAF PS3 group and thread like we did?

Just a thought. (:

Yet this group solves none of the problems you list. There probably won't even be such an amount of subdivisions, as most of that stuff can be placed in the OP of the OT or a Clan thread here on GAF ( division by time zones and even platforms, preferred modes as a note next to gamertag ) like it has been for other big multiplayer games. I have brought that up multiple times, yet it keeps getting ignored.

You have done nothing with the criticism but brush it off and move on, hoping that this will grow so big that by the time Destiny launches it will be the de-facto GAF clan, judging by the refusal to even include a non-offensive disclaimer that this might not be the final form of DestinyGAF and that there might be a possibility that the people in this group might need to switch over at some point in the future.

Let's at least make a separate thread for discussing the organization of DestinyGAF, because at this rate, by the time Destiny releases, we'll have ten people running their own DestinyGAF clans because they 'like it that way', without a central GAF clan.

Hey guys. Could someone ask a mod to change the name of this thread into "Destiny GAF PS4 -Request To Join- Thread"

? Thank you.

I'm sorry did the disclaimer I wrote too offensive for you? I just don't see it.

Forgot to request joining on Bungie.net a few pages back - did that now.

I can not add anything to the OP as it is not my thread, as for not taking any criticism on board ...... it has simply been that this is unnecessary, please stop.

There has been discussion here and I still feel, like all other clans have been done in the past that they are separated by platform ....... in that way players within a group will be able to play with or against each other without having to check up as to whether you have the same platform.

I am open to ideas but there really have been none, just recurring posts of people stating they deem this unnecessary.
