Destiny's "Raids" Thread: "Vault of Glass" is OPEN

It's listed in the OP.

But don't bother since it's camped to hell now :D

I got to the one on earth today and after a couple of reload I was alone but the mobs wouldn't spawn.... Like at best I would get 3-4 coming out of the cave every couple of minutes and thats it.

After watching a bit of some streams, I can see why random match-making would not be ideal. It requires tons of coordination. If you knew your random buddies were experienced and voice chat was enabled it might work out, but this looks like it would be an exercise in frustration with randoms.

Well, yeah. If you can't talk at all, that's one thing. But I'd argue that since the decision to not allow matchmade teams to chat is a poor one in any case...

It would really be a big problem on Destiny these inexperienced lvl 26 random people on matchmaking...

So yeah, I wish I can have friends to do raids with, but almost everyone on my friends list is done or 3/4 the way done with raid.. Dang lol

I kind of hate the fact that you have to either play this game all the time, get lucky, or farm in order to be allowed to play this.

Is there any vids up of someone actually completing the raid? I know a few have finished it by now but all streams and videos I've seen is everyone choking on the final boss.

I saw on a post that if someone dies during the raid, you have to start over. Can someone confirm or deny this please?

no. it has checkpoints and a 30sec revive timer.

- in darkness zones you have to wait 30sec before you can revive
- if everybody dies, you restart at last checkpoint

the first boss (templar) has also checkpoints within the fight, so if you all die in the last phase, you can resume there, even if you go to orbit and get back later.

Everyone trying to get loot to do the raid since this game has an atrocious loot system. Why bother doing strikes to get gear when sitting in a spot one shotting level 6 mobs gives us the same chance -_-

I got 10 legendaries from it today, only one of them wasn't a blue, and it wasn't even for my class. Bungie fucked up lol

Yeah I've been farming that part on Earth today. Managed to get my first legendary weapon. Unfortunately it's a rocket launcher. Only cool thing is that it homes in on people. =/

At least Bungie allows you to share inventory and money. If you get something for the wrong class, you can share it with your other character that has that class. So it's not completely a waste. Unless for some reason you never ever want to play another class.

I'm currently still level 24 because I can't find any armor beyond blue stuff so far. Need one more rank in FWC to be able to buy my legendary armor. Also saving up strange coins and motes of light for the weekend sales guy. Only need 4 more strange coins. Gonna be awhile before I can try the Raid at all. I might just mess around in it but not actually try to beat it until we know that the end doesn't freeze or whatever anymore.

Got halfway through level 25 last night, should be raid ready within the next day or two :) I'm excited to try this out but at the same time I know it's going to be a bitch to finish.

I tried the farming method in the video to basically no results. Spent 20 minutes and got 1 engram.

Am I doing it wrong? I was on patrol mode.

First mistake would be that you are farming engrams instead of farming marks. Your goal should be to outfit yourself through the vanguard and the factions. With the cap, max marks would allow you to have 3 purple pieces already, you should have enough strange coins for an itm from Xur when he comes back. The higher your level the better the gear you get seems to be.

If you already have full purple gear, then you just need to keep grinding and sacrificing at the altar of RNGesus. Anecdotally, I have always had better luck on higher difficulties. I got my yellow hat out of a purple engram that I picked up doing the first mission on the moon to grind out a couple of bounties real quick yesterday.

Stupid question. Are Raids the same as Striker missions?

Nope.

http://destiny.wikia.com/wiki/Raid

Unlike Story missions and Strikes, Raids do not give players objectives or waypoints and instead force Guardians to figure everything out themselves.[2] Because of the necessity of communication and coordination, Raids do not support matchmaking.[3]

There are two difficulties: Normal and Hard. Normal mode focuses on learning the Raid's mechanics, communicating with the team, and strategizing.[2] In addition to everything in Normal, Hard mode focuses on a more difficult execution, including deadlier enemies, increased Raid mechanic difficulty, and a harsher death penalty. Hard mode is unlocked after the Raid is first completed on Normal.[2]

Raids can be stopped and then resumed at a different time or day as long as the fireteam leader is the same player.[4] However, all progress will be lost after the weekly reset each Tuesday.[2]

Just reading this I realized this is definitely not the game for me. Reminds me of this Penny Arcade comic.

Tera's raids have complicated mechanics. Soon enough everyone was aware of them and before the raid started new players were filled in. So long you have the means to communicate it's doable with random players...which Destiny doesn't, I guess.

Game crashed on both teams that finished it. First team got a black screen, second team the end mission timer just froze. There were no end-raid result screen rolls, so nobody got any real raid gear. Bungie better own up and send them their raid gear soon cause that is some dumb shit.

lol is this for real? What a shit show.

Keep in mind you don't have to farm. you can just play the game and you will get there when you get there. Many people play Halo and COD religously just because it is fun, not because they are trying to raid. You can do the same with this game if you enjoy just getting on and doing a couple of strikes or playing some multiplayer.

The vanguard playlist will give you up to 6 vanguard marks per strike. I run the level 24 playlist with one other buddy (we are both 25) and that nets you 6 marks per strike. doing it with three would probably be even faster.

Are you trolling us right now. Are you still defending this game? :(

Do you really have to ask that? Lol

Tried the raid at 25 last night and got fuuuuuucked. Couldn't take out the praetorians before they got in my circle :( spent about 10 minutes trying before I dropped out of my group.

Should I even worry about farming marks if I'm not level 20 yet?

Farming is dumb so yeah....

Eh, I got about 6 or 7 engrams in about an hour total of farming that spot, so it wasn't dumb for me. Much faster than replaying missions over and over.
