THEY REMOVED THIS !!

Never got mine from Simply Games but I'm beside Glasgow so that's probably why.
They ship from Northampton so I can see it taking a bit longer but if they shipped it yesterday morning then you should have had it by this evening.

What time did it get dispatched?

Was shipped at 8:17 am yesterday - no luck and we don't get a second post up here anymore.

Weird though because I got NMS the day after ordering it the other week.

Edited in the correct shipping time

why were there reports of excellent performance early on (from a NeoGaf member)??...I think the guy said you can get close to 60fps with a GTX 770...

To be fair Ultra Settings seem to kill performance. Switching from Ultra to High nearly doubles performance. And Medium settings (maybe PS4 level...) should run good on most 'gaming' PCs (hopefully).

I'll skip MSAA and go for their temporal AA solution on my 980. A mix between high and ultra could be doable.

why so few impressions from gaffers? or is everyone in the spoiler thread?
I'd like to know what GAF thinks

Jim Sterling is playing PS4 version. Review under works, footage most likely on Tuesday as embargo lifts.

His early impressions for MD are positive and in line with reviews we have seen this far. He felt that opening of MD doesn't really fit that DX feel, but game put its hooks into him once he got to the hub.

PS4 is most definitely a mix of high and medium. It has things like SSS, SSR and cloth physics which are absent in PC's medium but present in high, the texture resolution is higher than PC equivalent of medium as well. The AF is most likely 2x or 4x..no more. The LOD distance for objects would be probably be medium (although this is one thing that could be individually tweaked for consoles to be around low). The POM looks like a 1:1 match to PC's high than medium (where it is just..on)...but it looks weird due to low AF and sharpening. On the other hand shadows are definitely medium and motion blur of any sorts seems to be absent in PS4 version.

Then again some console games can have variable settings that can change depending on locations. But I think it's safe to say this game in particular is a mix of high-medium.

The game has a soft Vsync on PS4 where it starts tearing in demanding scenes, usually these are scenes with lots of geometry/characters. The framerate is ok , it's not bad but it's not super stable and it does drop here and there when in hubs...seems fine during missions.

I'd try MSAA at 2x similar to high settings, plus turn off contact hardening shadows. The remaining ultra settings might be fine, will depend what resolution you will run it at.

I bet it's something like volumetric lighting on ultra that butchers performance.

Low and Medium settings look very blurry from those screenshots...I'm going to try for Ultra with my GTX 970 but most likely will have to settle for High...why is there such a huge performance hit from High to Ultra?...bad optimization that drivers or the Day 1 patch can fix?...graphics on Ultra don't look mind blowing

After reading some of the reviews, it sounds like Eidos M may be planning to follow up on the ending with DLC. We already know there is a $30 season pass, and they've previously done The Missing Link which bridged a gap in Human Revolution's story.

So, I reckon this isn't really the ending, and that one of the future DLC packs will rectify the issue.

if true that is some bull shit

if they want to make extra content, fine.. but not at the expense of the game's climax

It's not an ideal solution, but frankly I'd rather pay $30 and get my ending DLC in a few months rather wait another 5 years for the next game.

I think I would have been fine with the idea if this was said from the start, and if the content of both the game and the story dlc justified both of their respective costs. Obviously a completely unsatisfactory end to the game without the dlc and no explanation that this would be happening, is ridiculous.

I'd rather pay 60 bucks and get a complete game, but perhaps that's just old-fashioned of me.
That makes two of us. I was theorizing on the reason behind the ending being lackluster, and I think the $30 season pass has to do with it. I don't like it, but it would make sense if that was the plan.

I was planning on getting the season pass regardless.

Yeah, but that rarely happens these days.

I should mention that Dragon Age: Inquisition went through the same thing. The 'ending' that we got at launch was anything but; it wasn't until the Trespasser DLC almost a year later that the story had finally concluded.

Have never played a DE game before, is there any word on how accessible this one is to newcomers? Both from a story and a gameplay perspective.

Have there been any impressions from the Xbox version's performance? From the IGN video the resolution looks slightly lower, so probably 900p or above, but nothing about performance.

Jeff said all versions are fine. You have your usual fps drops on consoles.

I got the game this morning

So far:

-Art direction is top. Atmosphere is great as always. I've seen the gameplay videos in the past but playing Prague yourself is really cool. Seems like such a massive area to explore. Very atmospheric and nice to explore somewhere set in the day time.
-Music seems great so far
-Frame rate is pretty smooth, noticeable drops during some conversations though
-Graphics seem decent, some character models are pretty low compared to others
- Hacking is better, it doesn't look as good as HR but its easier to do. No weird holding the left stick forward and releasing the button.

- I've noticed the voice syncing is off some time
- I had some serious pop in during a scene in the second mission / area. It was kinda funny actually.
- The HUD is so cluttered with icons I wish I could make them smaller or something. Maybe I should look into the settings (I did and you can turn off alot of options and scale the HUD which is great)
- Shooting doesn't feel that good. I played HR as stealth, but when I used weapons they seemed better than this game

How is the experience rewarded in this? Do they still give more xp for stealth knockouts then for any other takedown? Do they still give xp for hacking and no xp for entering codes you find?

On PC: Gamepad vs keyboard and mouse?

Gamepad I get to slowly cruise around and soak up the atmosphere while I sit back all comfy with my feet up.

K&M you get to aim and shoot with pinpoint precision.

Or they could just finish the game like everyone else.

How people bend over for these BS tactics, jesus...
Hence why I said it's not ideal. It's just a situation where I have to pick between bad or worse. YMMV but I wouldn't want to wait another 5 years for something that should have been in the game to begin with.

It could be a mixture of several things such high precision AO, full resolution SSR, and full resolution volumetric lights and shadows (especially with contact hardening shadows) they require lots of computational grunt. Ultra LOD could also be one of the reasons seeing how dense the environments are it could lead to drop in performance if the game renders objects at full detail even at distance.

Isn't there Very High between High and Ultra? Possible that V. High is full res and Ultra is 2x.
