I've not really noticed, but I think its all the same as HR.
for people who have the console version,
what's the deal w/ the mission you get for pre-ordering?
is it dumb or is it decent?

Now this is just overreaction.
Where does it say anything about the game being bad? Yea people are disappointed with the story but not one review said anything about the game being bad.

Basically, if I adored Human Revolution and Deus Ex before, I'm still fine with this game?
I'd like to know where you saw these divisive opinions. I mean the reviews were positive about the game itself and if they can be this positive despite the story shortcomings then I'd say the game makes up for it.
I've been playing it since this morning and this is basically an improved Human Revolution in every sense so it's not really possible for this to be bad if you found HR to be good.
It's a better Human Revolution apparently.

When people are saying the story is bad, what's the metric? Like is it bad in general, bad compared to Deus Ex 1, etc?
All I really want out of it is a fun ride (and maybe some fanservice+references to the original). Human Revolution's wasn't that hot either aside from a few things here and there.

All signs seem to point to this just being Human Revolution again, with similar flaws. The boss fights are gone, but the plot and ending are apparently underwhelming and some of the routes sound a bit contrived rather than open and sandboxy (i.e.; vents everywhere, very convenient security terminals, etc.)
But again, for fans of Human Revolution this sounds like a very straightforward sequel - more of the same - doesn't shake it up. I don't see any of that as particularly worrying.
Yeah I'd like to know this as well. As far as I'm concerned, almost every game story is a pile of shit, so if it's at least a pile of shit I think we are on track for the game being fine. Anything more than that is a nice bonus imo.
The Preorder (D1) mission ist not unlocked yet. I guess Square will not provide the codes until early next week.
Compression. It will be unpacked when game is out and is installed. That is why some games like GTAV took ages to unpack and install, heavy compression.

I'll post some excerpts from the "negative" reviews that explains the game's negatives which echo the one NeoGaf user who beat the game+90% of side quests in 12 hours and said the story suddenly ends abruptly. First gotta have a shower. Hang tight.

Footage and impressions seems alright so far and while some are complaining about performance I cant help to think drivers and SLI would probably negate some of that + messing with the config on my own to at least achieve 60fps with good fidelity.

You get the mission by registering your game on the SE website, and you're supposed to get a PSN code after registering, but no code is being sent out yet.
From what I've read (Giant Bomb review) the mission is nice and is not really "in-game". It's just additional content and you can actually access it from the main menu.

Yea I don't get where all this jumping to conclusions is coming from..it's not from the reviews nor is it from the scores..nor is it from anywhere since everyone said it's a good game that basically feels like improved Human Revolution...how is that bad ?

Never heard of it, but GMG and GamesPlanet are running good discounts on MD while being official retailers partnered with Square.
Bought both me:c and ow and no problems. I think it has the extra missions and will be available the day it releases most likely, so no preload.
An interesting bit of info via Total Biscuit regarding the rules for video footage during the still ongoing embargo of Deus Ex:
"Video coverage embargo is Tuesday 23rd at midnight central european time. Aiming for that."

With Deus Ex I got what I expected. With No Man's Sky I expected sonething close to the reveal trailer. I didn't get that.

So essentially the story is kinda ass but the gameplay is still great? I can dig that, not like HR had a story that was great, no Deus Ex game will have a story that can rival 1 anyway.
Have you already played it or are you basing this on reviews? I mean 5 years... it plays good but somehow I am really underwhelmed. Still not finished but since people say it doesn´t get better I am already a little bit disappointed (by far not a bad game though). No Mans Sky on the other side... I was expecting a mess and it is surprisingly fun.
Naw it's just the usual "one person gets the game early and says it's short/bad" and everyone takes that as representation the game is shit, even when 90% of the reviews out there say it's basically as good as Human Revolution.
I mean you could beat Human Revolution if you're really trying in like 8-10 hours, but for most people it took 20+. So seeing a 12ish hour playthrough for Mankind Divided doesn't worry me too much.
