I've never really bothered to mod DMC4 on PC but I'm gonna screw around with SE I think. Throw in some OG DMC tunes and stuff, at least--if that's doable.

Yeah. The "journalists" antagonized the fanbase just because they didn't accept the reboot after they pretty much told them to go fuck off. Sales bombed and once again the "journalists" antagonized the fans for not supporting it with their wallets. Those were some extremely dark days.

Never forget.

I'll never forget and I've never forgive DmC and Ninja Theory.

Now I am a LITTLE motivated...

This is what I need to start the day with, a little motivation....

It's really what was missing from DmC's cutscenes. I think I recall a couple decently stylish cutscenes but that was it...

Too Japanesey for them.

It's criminal that Baroque and Beats only shows up twice in DMC4.

But yeah, tracks like Baroque and Beats, Swipe of Sword, and Ragnarok need to be the style they go for.

If DMC5 goes dubstep, I don't think I'll be able to handle it.

Kondoh's contributions can't be forgotten either - The Viper is probably the best boss theme in the game; I'd definitely want to see him brought back in a larger capacity for 5. Though I wouldn't be opposed to Shibata returning as long as he was allowed to do more than vocal tracks and assisted by other composers - his contributions to Half-Minute Hero are significantly more tolerable than a lot of 4 and SE's soundtrack. They might fit fairly well as the combat themes for Trish and Vergil, actually...

Ideally, I'd want to see Ueda return in some part, but that's likely impossible unless a Platinum DMC (spinoff?) does end up happening somehow - it'd be a pale imitation of the originals, sell three copies and kill the franchise for good, but the soundtrack would be amazing.

It's definitely possible - if SE uses the same audio format as the original release of 4, all audio will be in unaltered .ogg format. Though I don't think it's possible to edit loop points at the moment, so you'll have to either cut up your intended replacements to fit the original loop, or put up with jarring cuts.

I hadn't heard them say anything specific about the boss fights.

Voted for your Style video submission, btw. Hopefully others here will do the same:

That's awesome cheers! But honestly not very happy with either of mu entries. I think the other players have performed better. The more I play Dante the more I realise he really ends his combat refined. Plus each round has involved enemies that jus aren't combo friendly.
(Though this is all for another topic)
Thanks anyway :)

That intro looks very cool, but as much as i want to see Vergil killing some demons with style, i want the intro to have some story significance beyond that, its only two cutscenes after all.

There were some incredible articles after DmC was not as well recieved:
http://www.vg247.com/2013/01/15/dmc-devil-may-cry-fans-are-a-crying-shame/
http://www.forbes.com/sites/erikkain/2013/02/05/are-fans-to-blame-for-lower-than-expected-dmc-sales/
Wow damn. Hey I'll actively support DmC that first article makes me wanna stay a hashtag campaign called #NotAllDmCFans.

Now I am a LITTLE motivated...
Looks incredibly dumb, cheesy, cringeworthy and puerile- almost like it was directed by a 10 year old who thinks "this an this and this would be cool"...

...and I love it!

Those new character themes are so awful.

Thank god for Spotify on PS4 so I can play my stuff over those tracks.

What I did in the PC version was switch out the generic combat music with other music in the game. I've gotten quite tired of the generic combat themes, but some of the other music in the game is really good, like Baroque And Beats which GuardianE linked to.

So does rising star have that solar flare charger thing? I love that move

So far there's been no hint of it. I'll ask Gregaman about it.

Then what the hell was that? I dunno if you can link him the gif/video, but he had Exceed 3 Streak and it definitely behaved differently.

I'll try pressing him for more info.

The "rallenty throwing sheath" part feels Shimomura-ish to me. I guess he could come back, i recall him being a Freelancer and a not a full P* member, but i am not sure about that.

Shimomura runs his own company called U'den Flameworks, which is entirely work-for-hire. He was never a Platinum or Capcom employee, I believe.

I've just posted my follow-up questions to Gregaman. Does anyone have any simple questions they'd like me to ask while I've got his attention? Remember we can't ask about anything we haven't seen or weren't supposed to see, so no questions about Lady, Trish, or costumes.

Since Vergil's appearance is based on DMC3, I really really hope we get a DMC3 skin for Dante. The lack of skins in DMC4 was kind of weird, I mean they can't be that hard to do

He might not be able to answer this. I already put it in the Ask Capcom forum with no response, but I am sure curious if the Japanese version of the game will have English menus/text/subtitles. This is mostly just important for people who want to import the e-Capcom version (or potential winners of the Style tournament).

This was one of the prime examples of why DMC4 seemed incomplete or rushed. Whether they planned to add costume DLC and scrapped it, or if they just didn't have the time to add it, alternate unlockable costumes have been a staple of the series, and it was a shame they weren't included.

I believe they confirmed that there would be at least one alternate for every character? But I'm not sure.

The lack of alternate costumes in DMC4 was really bizarre. They were a fairly understandable casualty of the game's rushed development, but the lack of even something as simple as palette swaps was really jarring for a series which continually incorporated them. Going from entirely new costumes to palette swaps would still have been a step down, but it would have been preferable to the complete lack of options in the final game.

Fair's fair. They can add DmC DLC costumes for people who want them, just like people had to pay for classic skins in the vanilla DmC release.

It would be odd to see the DmC designs in the DMC4 artstyle. Then again it was odd to see the DMC designs in DmC's artstyle so it's a mutual thing.
I actually think the design would fair better being translated in the reverse direction, but it was indeed odd in DmC. It'd be neat to see imo.
Would be surprised to see them acknowledge DmC like that.
Vergil already has one of his counterpart's core moves, so I don't see why not. *shrugs*

Guessing because those mechanics were Itsuno's ideas to begin with.

Probably wrong but I expect them to draw the line somewhere about how much they associate DmC with the main series if their intention is to continue it with DMC5, which seems to be the case so far.

Though the disparity in popularity between the reboot and original series could mean the demand for DmC DLC costumes in 4 would be much lower; possibly not being seen as worth the effort. Unless they're direct model rips, of course.

Vergil might transition decently provided they retain his hairstyle from 3; but Dante would look really off - perhaps that outfit could be given to Nero instead?

With all the cross promotion they are doing, wouldn't it make more sense to have Basara 4 character skins in there? They also seem to be constantly showcasing the game on LDK, making it look like a Basara/Musou. Might help with sales a little in Japan at least.

Some more Vergil game play from gamersyde

Thanks.

Watching now and the beginning is boring with a noob playing mission 1.

A more competent player plays Bloody Palace right after though.

What's the side-ways spinning attack he does around the 5:35 mark?

Edit: Wait, am I seeing things or does Vergil have a move similar to Nero's Maximum Bet (the DT cross fireball looking thing)? Or is that what his Drive looks like? When charged up it looks horizontal in nature and multi-hitting (like Nero's) instead of vertical like Dante.

That's Overdrive. You press and hold triangle during Drive to execute it. Vergil's standard Drive is that two-hit attack that looks like Dante's Overdrive.

Yeah, seems the regular version fuctions like Dante's overdrive and the charged version like Nero's fireball.

EDIT: There's also some footage of later missions and a full Echidna boss fight.

BP will be a breeze with Vergil.

TIME TO ASK A DUMB QUESTION

Should I pre order the Asia Version of DMC4SE from Play Asia or the Japan Version?

Unless you want the e-Capcom limited edition, there's no reason to import the Japanese version. The Asian version is cheaper and is guaranteed to have English menus/subtitles.

Eh, maybe I'm crazy, but I didn't think DMC4's music was bad. The main problem was that it played the same buttrock songs over and over again until I was sick of them (same problem in DMC3), but I didn't really hate the tracks themselves.

Now this on the other hand...

....this is bad.

I really hope this was a drunk accident and not some preview of what's to come for the franchise. Otherwise...

I wouldn't call them good either. Most of them are fine for the combat segments, but they wear out their welcome quickly.

The best tracks from the entire DMC series are usually without the buttrock or have limited buttrock complementing the rest of the track. Devils Never Cry is the best example of this.
