Are there any signs they are even working on MT Framework for current gen consoles? What was the last game that used it? SF5 using UE is a big tell that they dropped it.

DMC4SE and Sengoku BASARA 4 Sumeragi are both (obviously) still using it. Dragon's Dogma Online is also using it.

I don't think Capcom's quite done with the engine just yet.

No way they are using MT framework for DMC5. I love MT, it's a really good engine but it shouldn't be used for any current gen only games.

I could see them using UE (like they are doing with SFV) but I don't think that's a good engine for HnS games imo, so I would prefer it if they were using Panta Rhei (assuming they've got their act together)

Not necessarily, look at SFV. It's not being held back by a new engine or new hardware.
But didn't they say that Sony is helping them with development in SFV tho?

Those are last gen games though.

True, but I could see Capcom sticking with the engine for at least these game, by virtue of what Itsuno and others admitted to in the last stream. BASARA and DMC share the notion in common that it takes "about a year" for each game to be developed. Likely part of the reason that they can afford to even make the games that relatively quickly is because they're built on a familiar engine, asset re-use is utilized where applicable and being able to implement new things is, thus, relatively easy, as opposed to re-working everything from the ground up.

Sure, they could go to UE4 for DMC5. But with Capcom being as "cost-effective" as they are here lately? Unless Sony or MS is helping them with funding, I could see them sticking with MT.

It seems they wanted to use Phanta Rhei on all their next gen games, but at the same time said their engine could be adapted to any system.

It just appears that they have been facing a lot of difficulties with this engine. and its a mess.

Right, I totally forgot about Panta Rhei. There were some rumors about the engine having problems being the root of the lackluster output from Capcom.

Well, adapting that old engine is also expensive and a lot more risky.

Phanta Rhei probably doesn't hit 60 fps yet. That's why SF V is using UE. They said they wan't Deep Down running at 60 fps, that's why or one of the reasons they downgraded the graphics. I mean at the end of the day the first trailer was just a tech demo anyway.

Edit:
Just saw the leaks. OutRun 2016 by Capcom? lol.

I'm hoping Panta Rhei works out for Capcom. MT Framework was absurdly well optimized and ended up being pretty nice from a modding perspective, and I'm assuming Panta Rhei is based on MT Framework's code (that just makes sense. no one creates an engine/framework entirely from scratch unless they're forced to).

RER2 was the last MT Framework title on this gen.

Keep in mind that SF4 also wasn't MT Framework, except the 3DS version, so it's not as though SF5 was an abandonment of MT.

Start of the new month, and as such I finally put some money down for pre purchasing the game on PS4. That PS4 theme is pretty nice, especially with the background music.

And now to play the waiting game...

I just hope they give DMC5 enough time/effort/money/whatever so that it doesn't make you have to backtrack through the whole game again and fight the same bosses.

Shame too because it is impressive. Loved MT Framework.

As long as the combat is good.

It's going to be really hard to top Bayonetta 2 currently as most over the top action game. Don't know if Capcom is up to the job these days. Hopefully they just submit and give the project to Platinum.

Err, if anything Capcom shouldn't give DMC5 to Platinum. They are good at action games but no, let Itsuno team take care of it.

It doesn't have to be more over the top, it just needs a fun, deep combat system with its own brand of ridiculousness. Let Platinum do their thing and Itsuno and Capcom do theirs.

True, I just hope Capcom can really deliver. SF V and Deep Down look good to me so far so hopefully they can really make a good comeback this gen with DMC5 too.

I'm tired with this Platinum thing that always mentioned, considering there's strong argument they haven't beat Itsuno made's DMC yet with their game anyway

My action god is Itsuno, not the bald twitter lord

I'll be really happy to live in a world where both Itsuno's DMC and Platinum's action games exist at the same time. I love Platinum, but I don't want them to hold up an entire genre on their own.

Am I the only one who find the idea of 'our engine doesn't do 60fps, we have to use Unreal Engine' to be funny? I can't count the number of times I've heard about UE3 being crap for 60fps - has UE4 fixed that?

UE was heavily modified for 60 fps. So it works now. But Phanta Rhei might not be at the point to do such things yet. This is just speculation on my side, I'm not saying it's true.

But Platinum is much more people than just Kamiya.

2 WEEKS

and i haven't even begun to practice dante like i wanted ;_;
I actually considered a little while ago loading up the original game again to get reacquainted with Nero and Dante, but decided fuck that and go into this SE fresh. As a result I've been replaying other action games to pass the time and get some other things out of the way.

God, I'm gonna be so rusty with Dante.

Do they still have automatic mode? Sometimes it's nice to just put the game on automatic and Son of Sparda and kick ass and then go to manual on Dante Must Die when you want full reigns and have your ass whupped.

Don't see a point of practicing Dante when I'll be 100 percent Vergil now (as it should have been in 2009 when Vergil should have been released as a dlc). I wish though they gave Vergil a just frame move that looked as swag as just release and table hopper though...

Remember, he's going to have quite a few sword sheathing animations.

I could see it going either way. If they really want to push copies of DMC 4 SE, they'll have a teaser or something small like that at E3. Do it on the 20th, release on the 23 in NA and sell some hype copies. If they want to be able to have a proper reveal (more likely), they'll wait for TGS.

He mentioned Shadow Hearts as well. This is too much. I can't take it...

Yeah, and then there's that "SoulCalibur 6", thing too. That, along with a DMC5 announcement, would already make this the a contender for best E3/TGS season for me in years.

SC6 has been hinted for quite a bit now by Namco, wouldn't be that shocking but I would still be surprised considering Namco is still pushing T7 at the moment. Last thing they need is more fighting game cannibalization which occurred in the previous generation.

Shadow Hearts is definitely left field territory.

I think even if half of the stuff he said ended up at E3 + DMC5 & TLG then E3 would be insane.

Soul Calibur 6 is kinda expected. On the other hand, who the hell in the world of gaming is gunning for Shadow Hearts 4? That series has been dead since 07, and the process of getting a new one made should in theory be hell. Universal Entertainment Corporation, formerly Aruze, holds the rights, but they only do pachislot stuff. Meanwhile, most of Nautilus joined feelplus, which is now a part of Marvelous. Shadow Hearts must have some crazy big fans high up at SCE, UEC or Marvelous for this to even be possible.

Lol at the new shooter IP from Capcom, though. Dino Crisis given the cold shoulder once again. Poor Jawmuncher.

It's stuff like that makes his list believable.

Like in most other fanlists you would have stuff like "Dino Crisis 4! Strider Remake! Capcom All Stars!" but here we have something that will most likely not be something exciting.

Capcom has kinda fucked up their last few TPS style games so I am not sure why they are going ahead with another one.

No, I mean, Capcom is making a new shooter but it's not Dino Crisis, and it's a completely new IP. It's a total Capcom move, but it sucks for DC fans (of which I am one).

But yeah, Verendus' list is believeable. He teases and leaks a lot of stuff that he something says is far off and might not happen, so I don't think he risks much by throwing that stuff out there.

A lot of their poorer TPSs recently were outsourced. Since there is some indication that RE will be undergoing a possible reboot or return to form, maybe they want to expand their more ambitious TPS gameplay into a new IP, stuff like RE6 or influences of Vanquish?
