Nope, they're all selectable from the beginning, along with Legendary Dark Knight mode.
Yeah, was the same for the original JP releases of the game as well. The JP/Asian versions are cheap, are in full english, and let you use the downloaded DLC no matter what region your account is. No reason not to get the PS4 physical release if you're planning on getting the PS4 version.

Pretty sure 1-4 are all in the same universe, although I would imagine that Capcom would rather ignore DMC2 in the future.
Dunno if Viewtiful Joe and SMT3 are part of the canon or not.

I hope Viewtiful Joe Dante is canon. Dante walking around in tight black briefs, watches movies only wearing that.
It's canon as far as the crossover/extended universe is concerned, at least. Dante and Viewtiful Joe greet each other in their intros for UMvC3, for example.

I was hard pressed to get the physical version since I love the series so much, but I had to save money and you can't beat 25 bucks, that's a huge value for the content. I also want to support the US release if that means anything towards DMC 5.

I know the mainline DMC is in the same universe. I mean it like this.
Kamiya version is only 2 games, which is DMC1 and VJ (sort of)
Itsuno version of the game is 2.3,4 but those are his on canon.
I would really love to seem Kamiya continue his own canon of DMC and not work it off/continue Itsuno's version of DMC.

Seriously that taunt is insane.
I love how the webm stops with the blade coming down. I wonder if that taunt can juggle multiple enemies. It looks corner or wall specific to keep the enemy in place. I'm guessing it otherwise sends them flying.

Hum... I wasn't aware of that piece of exclusive content. Does someone mind pointing out where I can listen to those songs? I'm probably going with the digital version, but I'm curious about what I would be missing out on.

I wasn't keeping track of this game at all so it was nice to see it come out of nowhere (for me). I've played 1-4 and 4 is already my favorite of the series, so it's awesome to see it improved even more.
After debating whether to get it for PC or PS4 I broke down and got it for PS4 since they seem nearly identical and literally the only game I have for PS4 is Bloodborne. Since it's only $25 I'll just buy it again for PC once I have a video card and monitor that can handle 120+ fps.

Quick question- do remasters and definitive editions get their own reviews as well? ie. do I have to brace myself for DMC4SE's reviews?
Considering there's new content and balance changes, I wouldn't be surprised.

I don't think he's straight-up trolling. I'm pretty sure he'd genuinely like to do Viewtiful Joe 3, and maybe also an Okami sequel or another Devil May Cry (since he seems to have gone back and forth over whether he wants to work with those franchises again). It's not likely that those things will happen, but then, it didn't seem likely that Platinum would ever work on Star Fox back when Kamiya tweeted about it back in 2010.
Kamiya had a lot of ideas for how he would continue and expand the DMC universe that never came to fruition because he got pulled off the series. I doubt Dante's game in Viewtiful Joe was ever truly considered canon to DMC1, but it at least shows a little of what Kamiya probably would have tried to work into future DMC games if he had kept making them. Weirdly, the Bayonetta artbook actually has a reference to Dante's VJ story in it, and Kamiya has said that in his mind, Bayonetta and Devil May Cry (1) take place in the same world, so you could include Bayonetta in that "canon" as well, I guess.

I'm kinda worried about it, too. In fact, I wouldn't be surprised if they start taking jabs at DMC4SE because they previously told us that DMC is old, outdated, and desperately needed a reboot.
