Does it expire? I could swear I'm well past the second or third dungeon (
the airport, right
?), and just got Weapon Fusion, and there's no guy at the Bathhouse saying anything about any area.

I'm not sure, but it would've taken you to Yurashima before the story, so it's possible.
Did you try all the forums/

It's a plain-looking guy in a white shirt.
I think he's voiced.

Do skill whoring for demon's matter in this like Devil Survivor and Persona? I'm not quite sure how to pass good skills on so I'm just fusing demons willy nilly just to match my MC and Nemissa's levels.

I ran into him before going to the Airport...but I cant get into where he requested. Of course...I wouldnt have known about him except for reading a post a day or so ago.

Would your sister or the rest of the Spookies have emailed/called you about it?

Anyone else have trouble hearing stuff even at the highest volume? I'm sure most of you play wih headphones but the speakers on the XL are pathetic.

For some weird reason the game is ~20 db (as measured by me from a likely pretty inaccurate iPhone app) than Etrian Odyssey 4. No idea why it's so quiet. Pretty annoying.

So I just did the first task for Victor and I'm kinda confused about how to handle demons. Is there any reason to not fuse demons and keep them in the party? Demons don't level and so the only way to get better demons for the compendium is to fuse. Is the item conversion thing worthwhile?

There are a couple of things that I miss like the ability to access the compendium from anywhere or health bars over enemies in battle (will this be an app?) but I'm enjoying this so far. The magnetite mechanic seems interesting, since it creates a balancing act of bending to your demons to preserve magnetite for money but so far I have a huge surplus. I didn't expect party formation location to be so crucial either. I think I had 3 of my demons doing nothing in the "boss" battle because I didn't bother getting good demons. Oh and getting to play an ASCII game in the middle a battle when talking to a demon was pretty neat.

I think you might just not be looking into the area closely enough.
It doesn't have a name or anything, if you just keep moving around, you'll end up in there.

Heh yeah, I found it. Was trying for the wrong section of the path.

For those who think its too quiet, set the 3DS to stereo instead of surround. You'll miss the cool surround effect, but the system should be louder.

It is super quiet, one of my only complaints with the game.

You better get MH3 eventually anyway because holy shit it's good.

MonHun was the choice.. but Kmart.com no longer had stock..
guess I might just wait for MH4 instead...

hmm. I was deciding between Soul Hackers and Devil Survivor: Overclocked.. (is the latter any good?)

Devil Survivor is good, yes.

Also I wouldn't play MH without online personally...

didn't know DS:O is such an old game.
hope SH is good. I practically went in blind because I wanted to use my kmart.com credits before they expire...

I hope MH4 allows WiFi on the 3DS... else it'll really take some persuasion

Online play for MH4 was confirmed last year, thankfully.

Just started playing this, and while this may seem off topic in a sort of way, wow I must say that Neuromancer is one of those works of art that once you experience it you start seeing its mark everywhere after. That opening hacking scene is like something straight out of the book, lol.

Im wondering if its worth it to go through the hassle of the casino to get the emperor sword as soon as i can. Will it break the rest of the game if i get it, also, any tips for this?

Logged 2 hours. Game feels weird as shit though. Nocturne and DDS are my favorite SMT games, by the way. I don't know what to think about this game. As far as the music goes, the intro theme and world map track are my favorites so far. I'm surprised demons don't level up as well. I upped the difficulty too, I think. Selected "Up", whatever that means, lol! Some of the menus/options are confusing in this game. Can't say I'm too obsessed with the game yet. Will probably play this off and on until SMT IV comes out.

Hitomi's voice is actually Cassandra Morris, I'm pretty sure. She voices Kyubey in the Madoka dub and uses the same exact tone.

I think Laura Bailey voices both. In the earlier parts of the game especially, her Kid Trunks voice comes through a lot. (Less raspy of course.)

Whoever does the voice, I like Hitomi's voice -- very cute, very endearing. But the voice of Nemissa is kind of annoying. Matched with her dialogue, she can grate on the nerves. Still dig the silver hair, though.

How is the difficulty of this game? I'm not very good at JRPGs but I've always wanted to get into ShinTen games.

Any playing who was on the fence about purchasing it? How do you like it?

It's a pretty tame SMT game thus far. Not much grinding seems to be necessary, which is a good thing in my book. I'm about 12 hours in, and I've found it to be a pretty enjoyable ride so far. There are those demons in every dungeon that stand out from the others in terms of having the capacity to wreck you, but some careful planning makes these fairly easy to negotiate.

So what's this game like? Nocturne or Persona or Strange Journey or what?

I've played those and I guess the closest I can compare it to is Strange Journey? But it still feels pretty different from that. I assume it's closer to SMTI and II but I haven't played those.

I've had it for a good chunk of time, and so far it's been worth it. I'm at about 11 hours in and I've killed every boss since I've got it besides one with just the main character and Nemissa and it's been pretty easy. Each hit does like 500 damage or more with it. If you don't want to be that overpowered, the World Armor is really good but still pretty fair.

It's closer to Strange Journey than the others, but it's nowhere near as difficult and the dungeons are a lot easier and shorter so far.

Anyone else have their game freeze up on them?

I was playing last night a little, in the refrigerated warehouse and an enemy used bufu and then... *poof* frozen. I didn't get very far but that still kinda miffed me a little bit.

I've gone 25 hours without freezes. I read on here that it might be helpful to turn off battle animations, so I did so at the earliest opportunity. If you're having freezing problems, it's worth trying!

20 hours with 1 freeze, at the iced warehouse early on. That seems to be where the majority of the freezes happened, ironically.

Jello what do you think so far, freeze aside?

I kept animations on btw

Well, Devil Survivor 2 had this problem as well. IMO use headphones, its the only way to get quality sound from 3ds. Second, EO4 is a bad comparison. It seems to be louder than any other game and it makes my speakers crackle a bit.

I mean it's pretty much the strongest weapon you can get before the post game so, but at the same time that's a whole lotta grinding for coins.

How does postgame/ng+/extra game work in this anyway?

You beat the game and make a save file. You load that save file and you are in the post game. You complete the post game and you unlock New Game +.

Extra Game is something else entirely and it's gonna trip a lot of folks up because it looks like what you'd pick for NG+ but it's really just a bonus dungeon that was tacked on. You can't save there and there's no tangible reward for completing it~

Knew extra game was like that, reminds me of EX-Dungeon from Eternal Punishment. Don't you get to fight
Kyoji Kuzunoha, Sid Davis, Raidou Kuzunoha, Raido Kuzunoha, and the Soulless God
in it though? Those fights are reward enough for me!

Boy is this confusing.

So what is extra game? Another file like Lunar Eternal Blue's epilogue?

And what's the difference between post game and extra game?

It's just a bonus dungeon. You can't save or leave or anything - if you die it's Game Over and you'll have to tackle the whole thing again. I guess you may be able to use the "Quit" feature on the menu to make a suspend save.

Man, just started the airport.

Rei Reiho is pretty awesome.

Also, is there a guide somewhere to make sure I don't miss too many sidequests?
