Episode 7 – Wednesday of Transformations - I

The best part of the anime continues to be the interactions between key members of the cast. Specifically the Yamato Hotsuin and his way of going around issues and then Alcor always stating that which Yamato actually means to say, and Hibiki being the center part of their eyes. Truly Alcor and these Sparkling Ones really provide the best dialogue.
But is Alcor really abandoning Hotsuin, I hope this doesnt mean Hotsuin will die. I already lost Keita, and I dont really want to lose anymore like Alcor, Hotsuin, Hibiki, and Daichi
.

Daichi and Hibiki were my favorite and whoever is writing this is doing an exceptional job for Daichi and is definitely selling me on getting the game. If his dialogue and interactions like these are in the game, then I definitely want it. The changing room scene felt like it was almost like Daichi was trying to confess to Hibiki.
Though, unfortunately it wasnt. But it was a good bonding and friendship scene and so much blushes. And Daichi really shows much concern for Hibiki this whole anime, like he's obsessed with friendship and him, which is good.

Anime is definitely on the rise and is finally going in the direction I want, hopefully they truly go with it as it will be awesome.
If Nitta will truly be used as a sacrifice then it will wholly make up for the pain and suffering we experienced from Keita's untimely demise, I cant believe Hinnako came back and he had to stay dead. Its definitely Nitta's turn.

Daichi isn't nearly as clingy in the game, he's just a good friend and kind of a coward.

His show version is a LOT better characterized. I'm very pleased with how they handled the cast, especially Jungo, who was always the best.

I don't get why you keep saying that. Keita never really did much in the game, both Hinako and Io are far more important plot wise. (In the game at least) Sure it sucks to have a character you like die so early, but come on man.

Yeah but Hinako and Io aren't shotas. What say you?

But its Keita and he certainly seemed vastly more interesting than atrocious Nitta and weak Hinako.

Actually Keita is like the least popular character, he is such a jerk in the game, his anime counterpart seemed like a nice dude in comparison. Io is much more competent in the game.

Also holy shit, I showed up just as you posted

Pretty much nobody liked Keita in the game. And even the people who do like Keita usually wouldn't even put him in their top 5.

Hinako is probably my favorite character in the game because she is just very genuine. She just does what she thinks is the right thing, and tries to protect those who can't protect themselves. She doesn't have any ulterior motives to what she does and she doesn't go to crazy extremes *cough*Ronaldo*cough*. She's just an awesome character that most people pass off as a generic fanservice character because of her outfit. Also, she's easily the best physical based character in the last couple days because of her agility stat. At level 99 she almost one shot the hidden ultimate boss with Multi-Strike.

Episode 8

Hahahahahahahaha. I see what they did there. Some people are going to be pissed! I can't say I really like how they handle the boss battles on the anime, since it's really just characters standing around a huge thing and spamming attacks most of the time, but damn, the demon fanservice is so good. It's nice to see SMT demons actually animated. You hear that Atlus? ANIMATED DEMONS. With UNIQUE ATTACK ANIMATIONS! Helloooooooooooo! :(

I liked the Alcor conversation in the episode a lot. I liked the blatant Evangelion hurrhurr references a lot less. The anime really makes all the Eva style references so much more obvious compared to the game. Not a fan of that. I really hope they're going for Alcor-end in the anime. That'll be awesome!

Episode 8

Great episode. Lots of interesting stuff here.

-
OMG OMG they killed Joe, Otome, AND Ronaldo oh crap  Tbere were no deaths the last couple episodes then they killed 3 people off. Rofl. I was expecting Ronaldo to die off at the end.
I guess we won't be seeing (GAME SPOILERS)
Ronaldo shoot Makoto, though I think we've been past where that part would've happened already? Don't remember.
Anyway,
the ending is sooo empty now lol.

-lol Daichi. I like how in the game he was a bitch but you could still give him strong demons and such, but here he's all confident but his demons suck.

-And WTF
they made Airi so OP. Airi fanboys everywhere rejoice. Nice that they brought in some of her backstory, but it was just short flashes. Too bad her dad doesn't seem like he'll have much of a role.

-Nice conversation with Hibiki and Alcor, and they've brought up most of the end-game plot points up, and also the spear appeared. I'm hoping they bring up the
Akashic Record.

JBourne

maybe tomorrow it rains
5 more episodes. So 5 weeks from now.

Thanks. Can't wait.

I'm not really into anime, but I watched Persona 4 (before playing the game) and loved it. I know the Devil Survivor series is very different, but I'm hoping to enjoy the show enough to jump into the games.

Damn.
Otome, Ronaldo, and Joe gone. :(

The anime has done well with Alcor's characterization.

I'm sure duckroll is happy with how OP Airi is though.

I think right now Kingmaker is the only ending which makes sense for the anime right now, unless there are other developments in the next few episodes. They're going to wrap it up in just a few more episodes, and the next two Days are only one episode each.

Daichi is such a crappy character in the show there's no real reason to make him the foundation of the ending, plus without the conditions for the Triumphant end, what's the point in Liberator or Restorer? Yamato is definitely not an option, Ronaldo has been physically removed from the equation. They're developing Alcor's relationship with Yamato and Hibiki quite a bit. Seems like a good fit.

I agree with this.

Alcor's also the only one who doesn't come across as an asshole or a coward.

God. F*cking. Dammit.

Really

I need to mention that I still haven't watched the episode, but already read the spoilers. I have watched the episode. Taking out the fact that
some people died
it was a cool episode.

But I am one sad man right now.

At least we have Airi. I'm gonna have to switch waifus now lol.

Episode 8 – Wednesday of Transformations - II

This anime had the potential to be so good (personally I think its much better than the Persona 4 anime) but just something about it keeps it from being or feeling like it has all the pieces in place. Is just above average I guess? Loved the attack spam and then the powerful insight rendered by Alcor the most.
Void was kind of cool too

I do hope in game I can give Daichi good powerful demons, still disappointed how he is handled and its pretty terrible in terms of combat abilities. Baffling and disappointing writing on the part of the staff
Especially that he has to sit and watch but Airi got some huge and powerful boost, Lorelei was it? Unfair

How are they going to do the ED for the final episode? So much empty space this episode

You know, I'm actually pretty impressed with how many demons they're fitting into the series. I think there has been over 30 demons shown so far in 8 episodes! <3

Maybe I'm looking too deep into things, but I think the anime's
setting up for a time loop. Hibiki has a lot of macca and Byakko from day one, Joe, Otome and Ronaldo all die differently than they do in the game, and Daichi isn't necessary for him to take Restorer so he can try again. In fact, the story repeating itself is exactly what happens if you take Restorer without recruiting everybody. That's why Hibiki has Byakko. He's on New Game Plus.

You could kind of feel the "goodbye" from Ronaldo when he handed off his research to the MC. Or at least, I interpreted it that way, and at least didn't expect them to see each other for a long time.

It just seems like there was so little mileage out of these three characters. Daichi is getting bludgeoned in this anime. The death was pretty unceremonious too, unlike Keita.

"There go the explosives....there's Airi. And Jungo....Jungo is alive. Where are the other people....oh, maybe they're dead, suggests Airi and Jungo. Maybe they'll show up in a bit. Oh, she's crying now....oh wait, they're serious? They got killed off?....Darn."

Either the Three Musketeers were written into a hole or they're too hard to include in the narrative the writers are trying to craft. And of course they weren't only going to kill Keita.

Even so.

Fuck. It's been real, Koharu.

Episode 8 was cool even if i liked the fight the aftermath was ...unexpected.

Alcor scene was kinda cool and nice as a character devellopment.

I liked this episode. Also, is Daichi the comic relief for the entire series? :/

Pretty slow episode, but it helped developing Alcor even more. The summoning scenes were too short though, although Shiva throwing the spear was pretty cool.

The scene at the end with all the characters was good stuff.

Looking forward to see if.
they actually kill Io next episode. I think they will.

Episode 9

Fucking awful episode. The pacing was all over the place, they didn't set anything up properly, and it was just a terrible rushed attempt to adapt the basic events of that day in the game. Really disappointing. The entire Shiva/Kama scene was meeeeeeeeeeeeh too. I think in this particularly case, they actually had more screen time and animation in the game than the anime. Fffffff. Zzzzzzzz.

I enjoyed it. Rushed, but they handled what counted. I don't envy this show's staff having to cram such a big story into 12 episodes.

The first half of the episode was the highlight for me. Whoever penned it found a great balance between comedy, some intrigue, and then just more comedy and a really deep sense of friendship. I wonder if they asked for extra time for it as if one would have actually spent more time on the action aspect than with this dialogue scene. Not that I would complain about it as the blushing, and Daichi commenting on how close they were made it way worthwhile

I got Evangelion vibes from the Angel in the ionosphere
predictable coming down to Earth as its remainders crushed the surrounds
and felt a bit bored during the whole action sequence and whatever. They could have gave it more bells and whistles Ending scene picked up things again when the ED played.
I too believe Nitta will die, no way anyone could save her.

Characters I want to survive the whole anime: Hibiki, Daichi, Alcor, Hotsuin & Commander Lady, and Scientist.
