DF: Cyberpunk 2077 PS5 vs Xbox Series X/ Series S - A Huge Improvement Over Last-Gen Consoles

Why anyone would choose an unoptimized game as the one for console warring is beyond my feeble understanding. Look at this shit right here Riky Riky . Is it worth being proud of? Fallout 4 now has a competition for most unoptimized game on consoles.
Hasn't nearly every game so far this gen been an unoptimized mess? No reason to stop comparing at this point.

You prefer a version with worse performance lol? Add ray tracing to the mix and sub 30fps. Not like the nextgen patch is them writing the game from the ground up with mesh shaders and other nextgen efficiencies. It will be shoe horning in ray tracing lol.

Xbox having a better density of traffic and people changes a lot of things in my opinion. It makes for a much more believable city.
When they unveiled the game, I did not imagine playing in empty streets honestly. Quite the opposite.
 
I'll be waiting to double dip with my Series X.

But I am glad those of you with a next gen console do get some improvements over the last gen even before official support is released.

The more powerful console,for gaming ps5, does not have a 30 FPS mode.

In Performance mode more resolutyion and better frame rate, as its more powerful.

XSX is only more powerful for GPU compute.

Quite frankly, the NPC density is disappointing even on PC.

But on last gen consoles and PS5... yikes.

Framerate is important, but given the choice I would go quality mode on Series X. Atmosphere is a huge part of the experience with this game, and empty streets just kills it.

I've played it and never seen that, it must be a random glitch and the game is full of them. No other framerate analysis shows that either.
 
The most obvious difference is the streets are more filled on the Series X version. Digital foundry went down the rabbit hole claiming Project Red deliberately did that? If DF going to throw out all allegations would not be best to confirm it first with the studio? This is the kind of thing people will question their neutral stance over? You saying the got paid to harm the game on PS5

You are correct because the nextgen patch won't be the miracle some want. This is a fun thread in a way. Playstation fans now know what it feels like to be a series x-s fan. With games having zero optimizations.

No, matter of fact i would say most games have been significantly optimized for next gen more so than Cyberpunk. I didn't say you couldn't compare but this is not the game for anyone to hang their pride on as a show of what these next gen consoles can do.

DMC 30fps locked, 60fps locked to variable 120fps
COD 60fps locked or at least more stable and unstable 120fps
Dirt 5 60fps locked and 120fps more stable
Gears 5 locked 60fps and Stable 120fps
Spiderman locked 30fps and 60fps

I'm not trying to compare the scale of those games to Cyberpunk by no means but those games are in a much better state at 4K or higher resolution than Cyberpunk on consoles. So no they are not on the same plane of optimization on next gen consoles compared to Cyberpunk.

Even all that said. Cyberpunk in Performance mode perform near identical on both PS5 and Series X. But there is not graphics mode so they literally can't compare that mode on PS5. So what exactly is worth being proud of here?

What? I find there is plenty of people on PC. Sometimes I'd say there are too many people cramped up in a small area even.
 
This is 60 fps on ps5 vs 30 fps quality mode on xsx which ps5 doesn't have. Is it not ?
Of course it is, and that's kind of the point. For the game at 60 FPS it gets absolutely destroyed, the world and environmental experience is a disaster.

Series X is the only way to play this game on console, it at least resembles what the PC is doing atmospherically.

The XsX hitches are weird. Not sure if its related, but I had a few similar hitches in the XsX Fortnite. It looked and ran great, but every once in a while I would get really bad hitches/frame rate crashes.

PS5 had lower quality assets and details. Crowd density low as well. So they bumped to 1180p which is tiny resolution upgrade over 1080p mode on SX which has better graphics and mostly 60 fps outside of certain scenes.

Turns out smart hardware customizations generally beat small raw power increases.

As someone working in IT, I'd say it's generally true by the way. Dedicated hardware usually trounce more powerful generic purpose servers in performance.

If same details added to PS5, you will similar minor drops.

It only manages these very small resolution and frame rate advantages because they took most of the cars and people out🤣 when they put the rest of the moving parts of the city in it will tank because of small GPU, slower CPU and lower peak memory bandwidth.

Can anyone explain why assassin's creed were able to do large crowds well in cities like unity.... but games like GTA and Cyberpunk fail to have any form of crowds. I don't remember unity having big performance dips either.

I'd love for these big cities to have big crowds
 
I suspect it was fixed in 1.04. There are more NPCs on ps5 now. And the image is sharper.

Screenshots and both system got patch? If they added extra details then DF should do another frame rate analysis of PS5 version to see if extra details affect frame rate or not?

Since when crowd density and shadows with more UNSTABLE 60 is acceptable over more STABLE 60? Looks like XSX isn't the best of both worlds

HOW do you know that PS5 will have similar minor drops with patch 1.04?

Don't forget that PS4 gamecode only has access to PS5's BC mode hardware, since the PS5 changes it's featureset regarding wich BC mode it's in (PS4/PS4Pro). For greater game compatibility, the PS5 is actually "emulating" PS4/Pro hardware by reducing clocks/cores, but the zen2 cores are so much better than the Jag's cores that you get a jump in fps regardless) The full PS5 featureset is only available to PS5 specific gamecode, that will come with the next-gen patch later.
On the Xbox side, I'm not sure, but I think by the nature of MS' GDK and overall filosofy of unified SDK for all their hardware (PC like), gamecode may have access to all of Series X' features.
With that I mean that the hardware of Series X dosen't cap itself in any way. Games won't, ofc, take advantage of Series S|X specific hardware functions, since the gamecode is tageted towards the last-gen consoles. (no velocity/mesh etc)

TL;DR; The PS5 could actually run BC games even better if it didn't cap it's own hardware. (only for the games that could handle the extra power though)

Totally. And even better, Series X gives gamers an option between two modes. PS5 can't handle that.

It's amazing how fan warriors like Agnostic can cherry pick certain criteria based in any game comparison videos. He's got an excuse for everything

Video 1: PS5 wins because it has higher res! (even though Xbox has better assets or NPC density)

Video 2: PS5 wins because it has higher frame rate! (even though Xbox has two modes to choose from including a rock solid 30 quality mode, and he uploads images of only the parts PS5 shows a higher FPS count). There was one image in a different game thread he did this, and another GAF user uploaded an image he snipped showing Xbox FPS higher in a different scene just to prove how dumb these cherry picked FPS images are

Video 3: It looks like Xbox has better load times and the game seems better on Series X..... Well, that's because it's a last gen cross port so it doesn't count!

That's not at all what he's stating, there's still more going on visually in the Series X performance mode, it's merely at a lower resolution.

Better image quality =/= higher quality assets, effects, density etc, It equals resolution.

I don't see any 180s or salty tears. I see people being proud of a game that literally hangs mid gameplay. Everyone ought to be outraged about this poor excuse of a optimization and PS5 missing an entire mode completely.

Ps5 will run it better when the 30 FPS mode as well when it arrives, low fixed clock on XSX and under utilised CU and too many CU in shader array to be of any use other than what it was designed for, a server blade. Ps5 GPU is better for gaming, XSX for mining.

Just as well Ps5 does not have a 30 FPS mode or they have the same settings otherwise it would be ps5 about 5-10 % better as usual, and you would have no argument.

As the settings are different, we cant compare, you will have to wait for your loss.

Aye, I think if you're desperate to play it, fair enough. But it's looking like waiting for the official PS5/XsX upgrade is the way to go for this one if you have a next gen console. I'd prefer the first time I play it to be the best experience possible on the new system I'd purchased.
