Or is it just one of Phil's balls in my throat?
- Hogwarts Legacy
- No RT reflections in the Medium
- Fortnite (gimped/software implementation)
- DMC5 SE
- COD: Cold War
- F122
- Ghostrunner
- Chernobylite
A couple of them I remembered, others I had to look up. But, it seems to be a compromise at best if/when enabled. It's not surprising when looking at specs, especially when some games like Metro Exodus bottom out on the resolution scale with RT enabled on the Series S.
Oh you're talking about Series S
I thought you were saying Series X to PS5.
My bad.
So this explains why the PS5 has been outperforming or matching the Series X…
No, but it does answer the question that the CPU frequency *is* a tad bit faster.
As for why PS5 is outperforming or matching Series X, there's a lot of other factors to it than just CPU frequency. You know that already.
Wait so is there no downside to choosing fidelity + RT over just fidelity?
On Xbox, more drops in FPS. On PS5, slightly softer image cause the DRS scope is bigger.
If you're on PS5, I would personally recommend Balanced mode. Same resolution metrics as Fidelity but the extra frame time makes a huge difference.
Grabbed it on Xbox. Guess I made a mistake...
Which mode should I use with a 120hz display and VRR?
Xbox Balanced mode is not as reliable as PS5, so I'd say go for HFR. It's 1080p but the best performing with average FPS between 60 and 90 all times.
