"Hybrid" isnt a thing. It's a PC with emulators and a pretty launcher.

By that measure a PC running SteamOS and using emudeck is a "hybrid".
Hybrid is definitely a thing but the amount which each part has in such hybrid can differ.
PS3 was a "hybrid" until they've removed the ability to install Linux on it.
Helix will be more skewed towards being a PC but I'm still expecting a lot of console things in both OS and h/w - the latter is a given.
It will not be "just a prebuilt".

Nice to see "Hybrid" getting more traction in the votes. It wasn't like that when the thread started. People starting to see the light!

I mean it'll run in some sort of layer, probably Hyper-V. Same way you can run Linux really well on a Windows 10/11 PC.
That's also the same way those games run on Series consoles as well as Xbox One.

And likely is how "Helix" versions of games will run.

It's worth considering that 'hybrid' only means shit if both elements, the console and the PC, are equably capable as one another in terms of gaming. I see PS3 mentioning a lot due to other OS capabilities, but it wasn't even worth mentioning at the time because Linux meant fuck all in terms of gaming capability back in 2006. It's like a theoretical hybridism that nobody used. Full fat Windows on top of full fat Xbox, in one box, is far more meaningful in terms of what it can do for the average end user, and in terms of gaming.

That's not really how the term "hybrid" is defined. Hybrids of 2 things can be unbalanced in one direction of what they are a hybrid of.

Common Sense

Nobody is going to build to build games for a specific PC with an abysmal install base

It's wasted time and money for any developer
I didn't say it would be widely supported by 3rd parties.

Even on PC where hardly anyone uses Windows Store we do get at least some 3rd party support for it. And those are separate builds developers have to create and test.

There absolutely could be Helix versions. AKA a separate build from the PC version.

Really not sure why you are so certain of yourself on this.
Yep. This is still very much a possibility. We don't know for sure, but it's possible. Anyone sure about this at the moment on either side of the debate needs to check their confirmation bias.

I believe there will be just PC versions with an optimised preset (kinda like for Steam Deck but on the higher end)

Im excited this thing seems like it will be pretty cool. Pc games, xbox games and more than likely emulators day 1 with no exploits needed.

Yeah, it might end up making dev mode redundant for emulation but I guess not that many people were using it in the first place, I think I'm one of the few people on GAF who maintains a dev mode account.

I think there is already a thread for this floating around here
Oh I only searched MLID first, found the thread.

If it doesn't have dedicated software specifically for it (xbox series BC dosent count) and it ends up only running pc games trough steam/windows.. than Im calling it a PC ... xbox and its fans can call it whatever they feel better calling it.
