DF: No Man's Sky: PC vs PS4 Graphics Comparison

Your comment was about Hello Games output as a developer, not about the PC port of No Man's Sky. I suggest sorting out what it is exactly you're trying to communicate here.

Not sure why you would think they are separate things. They go hand in hand. My comment was about the bad port that Hello Games made.

I want to see them do another one once the official pc patch hits.

Patch fixes the resolution bug and actually enables AA.

The PC version isn't looking too hot, was most of the QA testing performed for the PS4 version?

Also, what was that about the PS4 Neo "fundamentally changing" No Man's Sky? The PC version doesn't appear to scale much above the PS4 version where there is significantly more powerful hardware is available.
I guess they just didn't bother or ran into constraints.

PR speak. Higher specs will surely make it a more satisfying experience, but when you're tethered down to other machines you can't radically change anything.

He said an, not THE. Knight's port was pretty bad if you wanted 60fps and didn't run it off an SSD.

I recently reinstalled Knight on a HDD and even though it was better than launch, it still pauses and hitches an awfully lot even with G-Sync.

When I bought Arkham Knight at launch on PC I was playing at a lower framerate than the PS4 version at the same res with lower graphical settings on a 970, 16GB of RAM, installed on an SSD and with an Intel i7-5820K.

I would literally get constant dips under 10 FPS.

Anyone who is saying it doesn't render at whatever resolution is selected in the options is smoking something. I have been playing in 4k exclusively, and trust me, you can really tell if its 4k res or not. It has been for me, since the second the first version launched. Note that it straight up tells you that you need to restart for some graphical changes to take affect, so maybe they didn't restart?

What I don't see people talking about: the render resolution of objects in the inventory screen ( Like your multi tool ). This appears to be hardcoded to a lower resolution. I am certain it isn't rendering above 1080p on mine, but it even looks like it might be 720p. Not a huge deal I guess with all the other issues happening.

Honestly, I haven't had any crashes or anything with NMS PC. The only annoying thing I have encountered is the thing where if you are in fullscreen and switch out of the app for a moment, it has trouble coming back up on the screen without jumping through some hoops or restarting the game.

+1 for declaring this not a botched port, just a pretty bare bones one. Here is to hoping we get some more robust detail / distance sliders in the future.

another weird thing

the game supports 21:9 for the actual game parts, but the menus and everything are a stretched 16:9.

I don't like that very much

No Man's Sky is still not an industry worst. You could probably build a list at least 20 deep of games from the current gen alone that are worse ports depending on your criteria. Go back a gen and it gets real fucked up

The day 1 of no man's sky was a better port than MKX and arkham, and that's just 2 months from 1 publisher.

I had a 980ti, 2500k@4.8, 16gb ram, on an SSD, same results as you

It wasn't and it never has been. Whatever post-processing was on it made it look like shit. Unless you were running borderless and your desktop resolution was different to what you picked in the options menu, it rendered at the resolution you selected.

Before the most recent experimental patch and the new drivers. Not sure if they did any of the fixes we knew about day 1 either. Hopefully they revist it as the reports on the new patches have been positive.
My desktop resolution is 4k. The game was set at 1080p. It was rendering well below 1080p.
