I am watching this full screen on my TV and this is not a good example for the pro at all in my opinion. There's a few little benefits, but also some clear flaws with delayed raytracing animation etc.

This is not a good show of the PS5 pro imo. seriously, seriously zoomed in shots and not a huge difference.

Meh, 3-year-old game with basic-ass addition of PSSR and not much. This is just Insomniac not bothering much because not only are they busy with other projects, but this one probably doesn't make much money anymore.

Kinda boring.

I developed severe eyestrain trying to see a significant difference between the amateur ps5 and the pro.

If there is a difference, I don't really expect to discern it on Youtube anyway. There are differences between many Series S/X or PS4/5 games that I could see in real gameplay on my TV but not really in a youtube compression. I like high-res screencaps better...straight from the game, not the video.

least impressive PSSR showing
they also need to increase the detail in the pro mode to match the fidelity mode settings
very lazy from insomniac
Can't expect devs to go back to their old games and spend a ton of time on them for a tiny portion of the playerbase. Also Insomniac games are already great looking and run well so not much to fix I guess.

I disagree with those saying there is little difference. While the RT performance mode was very impressive for something running on a console, the image quality was far from ideal and you could really notice the low resolution it had to drop to in order to maintain 60fps with RT. Again, it was impressive, but very soft at times. I didn't even need a pro comparison to notice at the time.

So, the ps5 pro performance mode looks better that the base performance mode and worse than the fidelity mode.
IMO even tho it has worse settings than fidelity's mode, it still looks as good or better in motion due to less artifacts in some places.

But gotta remember that first party Sony games don't use FSR, so the difference will always be "small", also there's no super demanding Sony game yet this generation, differences on games like ND's ones or Guerrilla next gen games will be bigger

The fun's going to be on all the next gen 3rd party demanding games that use FSR (which is pretty much most if not all nowadays) such as AW 2, guess we have to wait a bit to see these still.

In the article Oliver says that Insomniac might add a fidelity mode for the Pro, that's probably the most we can hope for Ratchet.

I'm also curious to see what Insomniac might do with a PS5 Pro fidelity mode. Mike Fitzgerald from Insomniac hinted in an interview I conducted last month that a fidelity mode with additional RT (like RT shadows or RTAO) could be in the cards for Pro owners.

Not a huge difference, weird how something like TLOU2 can see a major upgrade but this is more muted
Insomniac already had fantastic upscaling prior to PSSR. However, you can clearly see a lot of those thin lines becomes straight with virtually zero jaggies now. Quite impressive so far.

Some will benefit far more than others with already great proprietary solutions.

I previously found Performance mode on with RT off and VRR off to be best for me on base PS5. This now looks like I'll have that image quality but with RT. The upgrade looks OK to me, but nothing I couldn't live without.

Sony could have invested a little of its money to have a game that would demonstrate the power of the PS5 Pro but it seems that not

or maybe concord was the game that was going to show the power of the PS5 Pro?

The biggest improvement on Pro comes down to the way the final image resolves, with PSSR upscaling taking Ratchet from circa 1584p to a full 4K final image versus a 1440p internal res on the base machine (Both modes make use of DRS and use lower-res post processing too). On fine elements of geometry, the difference can be stark, with the Pro resolving cleaner lines with more detail thanks to that higher internal resolution and better upscaling tech.
The performance RT mode features a substantial pass of post-process sharpening to give a greater perception of detail across the image. On PS5 Pro, there's better overall detail, but without the artificial-looking edge ringing and additional breakup often associated with sharpening. According to Insomniac core technology director Mike Fitzgerald, the PSSR technique used on Pro resolves enough detail that the sharpening used on the base PS5 isn't necessary.
RT reflections also resolve much more cleanly on the Pro console. These reflections had a grainy appearance on the base console, with checkerboard-like patterns sometimes visible in reflective detail. PS5 Pro can look slightly softer than the base console here, but the RT resolve is more stable. There's also much less aliasing in areas like bevelled edges on glossy surfaces and on the borders of glossy materials in general. That results in a more coherent and realistic image, especially with changes to noise and dithering patterns that feed into the RT reflections on PS5 Pro.

This game looks too good even on the base PS5.
There is nothing to improve,
even if you run it on Sega Model 3!

Showing Pro comparisons for FF16 and Rebirth would have been more than enough to sell the Pro. One of the biggest flexes they could have done was a Pro patch for Cyberpunk that finally adds in raytraced GI.

I have already reserved the PS5pro, but I must admit that the differences are minimal compared to the normal PS5. As far as I can see the PSSR offers a cleaner image, more “CGI” but little else.

I think Sony's first party games look so good on PS5, that just touching resolution and fps, you won't notice any difference on PS5PRO.

The PS5 Pro's trial by fire is the fucking Unreal 5.

Yeah that's the smallest upgrade so far but still notable hopefully Insomniac can find a way to use the sharpening without over aliasing the image because it would look much better.

Exposing the sinister cartel of retailers who allow companies to pay for advertising space.
The PS5 Pro should make it possible to double the frame rate of games that are now running in 30 FPS in fidelity mode. But in this case we're only getting better raytracing in performance mode. The old fidelity mode is sharper than Performance Pro mode and also has higher crowd density.

I'm very curious to see what AW2 looks like on the pro. I've been holding off for a full year because of that horrendous shimmering on ps5.
